You remember the six-wheeled vehicle that was stubborn and would handle like a drunken rhino?

It was not all bad, though...

But what are your opinions on it? Are you happy it is returning?

I'm thrilled that we have a vehicle again. But then, the Mako and I were one on my PS3. Maybe Cortez' problem was that he was trying to control it from a PC.

Very much happy about it. I never had much issues with the handling of the Mako, though I heard I got off easy with the PC as compared to the console controls. I loved the Mako and what it meant: exploration!

There have been several moments on my first ME playthrough where I just parked my Mako and stared at the georgous sky boxes on some of those planets (seriously, I can't applaud the team responsible for the ambient environments enough, they did a breathtaking job).

And there was always the neat side-effect of being able to just plow through some enemies full-throttle and send them flying, or the deadly ballet with thresher maws (though those two aspects quickly died down in favour for less showy and more efficient routines and XP maximization).

What I'd also like to emphasize when talking about the Mako was that the problem with its handling wasn't the make itself, it was how the surfaces were designed with its heaps of jagged protrusions, steep inclines, etc. pp.. On remotely even ground, the Mako handled perfectly fine. It were those 80% incline cliffs with those rifts in them that really caused the navigation issues. You could mostly circumvent thoe by looking at the map and figuring out a path of least resistence instead of plowing ahead in a straight line (which also had the benefit of getting into scanner range of most ressource deposits), but there were some objectives/points of interest that you only could reach with a lot of frustration and broken front right wheels (looking at you, Eletania!).

Mako was awesome. Far better than the ME2 Hammerhead sections, though that is another paragraph and not part of this discussion.

That was my problem. I had a lot of trouble with the Mako when I played ME1 on the pc. Glad the game is on ps3. Driving the Mako is much easier

Yeah I loved the Mako ,even when I was slipping back down some of the slippery, craggy mountains.

I loved rollin' along and hittin' the thrusters and 'boing' 'boing'.  Or playing tango with a Thresher Maw. Before finishing it off on foot of course.

The Mako really wasn't difficult to handle, it's just that some of the terrain you had to pass through in order to get to some of the points of interest was a little ridiculous. I am certainly happy that it is supposed to return assuming this means bringing back exploration since that exploration was my favorite thing about the first game and it was certainly lacking/missing in the 2nd and 3rd games.

Well firstly:

My biggest concern with the Mako isn't so much it's controls but rather the way it was utilized. Mako sections were generally pretty boring as they involved involved driving over barren scenery for long stretches of time to complete fetch quests or driving down linear corridors. Maybe, if they make it some mix of the Halo Warthog and the car from Half-Life 2 episode 1 or 2 (can't remember which one).

I have mixed views on the Mako. Some bad, some good. That is why I mentioned that it is not all bad. Honestly I would prefer scouting the planet to sending countless probes. That hurt my fingers after awhile. But for me the Mako is a love-hate relationship. I am glad that we get to scout and explore worlds again. I just am on the fence about the Mako. Which is why I wanted other peoples opinions.

I like the idea of vehicle exploration. However, I hope we won't get barren wastelands with a token resources and reused bases like in ME1. I also hope vehicle combat will no be as boring and overpowered as in ME1

Beyond happy. Exploring with the Mako was the reason I fell in love with ME1.

I didn't even cared about reused bases for the first few playthoughts. I just imagined they were prefabs, and that they all looked alike because of that :D

Very happy.

What they said.  See what the Mako is doing in the video posted by ImaginaryMatter from 1:00 - 1:20?  I loved that Mako was able to do that, but I hated actually doing it.  Once or twice, fine, whatever.  But some maps it felt like that's all I was doing, all the time.

I personally think that Mako sequences and especially the uncharted planets in ME1 were boring.

First are due to enemies being merely a means to hold your progress, they should have concentrated on Mako, not on killing. In fact, you could do most of those parts during main missions without Mako at all if you're good at slaughtering Geth.

And uncharted planets were boring because:

a. Prefab bases. Quantity over Quality at it's worst.

b. All the planets are so... boring. There are few with stunning skyboxes and that's it. I wanted to see more flora and fauna, not reused textures on randomly generated mountaints.

At the same time i loved Hammerhead missions, so i have high hopes for ME Next Mako.

Love our dear ol' gravity and physics defying IFV, especially now that we can customize it.

"Mechanical Man" from Command&Conquer as intro, General TSAR approves.

Now that would be awesome, doing a "warthog run" at the end of the game Mako style. I suppose the Conduit run could be seen as something similar ....

BTW loved the vid. I also always plant the monument next to the crashed, frozen Mako on Alchera.

I'm looking forward to the Mako, I'm sure BioWare will fix any of the "handling" issues that were there in Mass Effect.

I loved the Mako sections mostly for their atmosphere. What I want to see in ME4 is a way to take control of your ship. Space battles anyone?

No there's several places you get the option, I always choose the Mako site.

Although the Galaxy Map would be a close second.

When I went to the crash site I seen the Make just sitting there. I thought to myself, of course you survived -- while everything else was twisted, bent, and cut in half. Forget escape pods, let me fasten my seat belt in the Mako. It can save me the trouble of needing to be rebuilt. Sense we are exploring again, let see some wild life, cities, villages, beaches, random people. Maybe a few non-repetitive side quest. And no resource gathering. I want to feel like a mercenary or smuggler, not a miner.
