*Slight spoiler assumptions below.*

This is a thread about the Inquisitor's ball outfit.

Before you sigh for a thousands years, please note this is the feedback forum! And I've seen many people voicing their opinions about this quite a lot in several threads so to avoid further derailment, I have created this one.

Now as some of you may know or not know there is a supposed ball. The Inquisitor attends wearing some sort of red uniform, and I think it is the same uniform regardless of gender.

There will be no dress for femquisitors to wear because of animations issues.

However, my personal nitpick is that is looks like this outfit was designed with a male Inquisitor in mind and then later adapted to fit the female. We are going to a ball! I think this would be the most appropriate time in the game to wear something more impractical and flashy.

It looks like a uniform that all of the Inquisition will wear. (Total assumption, but basing on the fact it looks like Leliana is also wearing it.) I'm just wondering why it couldn't have been a choice for a more feminine option? It looks quite dashing on the male, but it seems out of place on the female when all the women around her are in elegant dresses. An options between even two styles would have been fantastic. (For both males and females who want a more feminine or masculine look.)

And I personally wouldn't even care if it wasn't a dress. I get animation issues. But something like what Josephine is wearing? Or an outfit resembling Vivienne's mage assemble? It just sucks that there is no present feminine qualities about it.  Again, it looks like it was designed for the male and then adapted for the female. *This is my opinion and is not fact. It just looks like that is what happened, not that it actually did.*

This is probably my only gripe about the game which is quite an amazing feeling. It just sucks that in a game so about choices, your inquisitor will be forced in to a certain characterization, especially attending a giant dance.

It's like MotA all over again. >-O

*Note: This is assumption. Do not take anything as fact please and thank you. This is also prematurely assumptions and opinion forming going off of what has been seen.

*Also note, yes, it's great if you like it! Seriously, I'm happy for you! But surely you can at least understand a little why some people might not be?

*Also note, this is in the feedback forum! This is a place for suggestions and what you'd like to see. Twitter is not. Please *do not* tweet the devs angrily! PLEASE

Unless there is an option to choose an outfit to all the gender, no, I do not want my character to use a dress. It is bad enough that I have to stomach the hips animations.

That outfit looks good on the male Inquisitor.

Yeah, I'd prefer for my lady dwarf to look a little more feminine than this when she does it.  However, I can totally understand Mihura's point.  If I were playing a gal who isn't a ball gown type of lady, I'd hate to be forced into it.  Maybe two outfits with the option to pick either?  Male qunari Inquisitor in a ball gown ftw!

I think its a toss up who'd look better - heavily bearded male dwarf or male qunari :P

Let's split the difference and go with a heavily bearded male qunari!  ;)

Actually I am planning in the future to do an PT with a male warrior qunari that is quite elegant and would go well with a dress, to bad we do not get the chance to choose it.

I do not mind the dress at all, just let me have choices.

I'd really like if there was a choice like at the beginning of Fable 2 where you could decide between something practical and a fancy dress. The game didn't exactly have the most beautiful clothes I've ever seen, but that choice is something that helped define your character even in the first few minutes.

One Military outfit and one fancy outfit would be the best thing to have if you ask me - even if they don't want to do dresses.

It looks like an 18th century military uniform to me. Which I suppose is inevitably masculine because that's what those uniforms all were at that time.

If they're putting Leliana in it then the outfit probably has been adjust to fit female Inquisitor's too, unlike MOTA's.

But I would have preferred the option to wear a dress version of the outfit.

I agree if we had two choices that would have been great. Then we could have the one that is already in the game and a beautiful dress or something similar!!!

That is more an assumption we made as cultural, I really do not think clothes have genders but I guess the devs did go for that, which is sad in a way.

I'm expecting my female inquisitor to be wearing an outfit that is more masculine in appearance and she will probably be walking like some tough dude in the cut scenes. Does this disappoint me? Yes, it does and I would like a more feminine look, but worse things could be implemented into the game. As always, I will put my hope on modders to fix this if they can even get modding to work for this game.

Animation issues.. Aren't they already animating skirts for 50% of all other female characters in the game already?

I'm assuming it relates to specific run animations and that any lady wearing a dress in the game will only ever stand or walk :)

Okay, so since Femquisitor is indeed wearing the exact same outfit as ManQuisitor to the ball ( I thought there were differences at first, but upon closer inspection they are exactly the same, and plus Leliana is also wearing it apparently), the fact that she is wearing men's formal wear, to me, sends a sort of message.  She's making an appearance here as leader of the Inquisition. She's less concerned about primping and wants to represent the Inquisition. She's in no-nonsense apparel.

This impression that I get would work extremely well for the badass, no-nonsense military female that I would ideally want to play as if I make a female PC.  This men's apparel is something that she would totally wear.

However, the lulzy part that will utterly ruin the effect is the fact that Femquisitor will still exhibit the sex walk when you move her around the ballroom outside of cutscenes despite wearing this men's suit.  Lmao.

It may seem silly to gripe about something like this, but at the same time, sometimes its the little things that draw the player into the game and to the dragon age world. I can't image this is a cost or animation issue as there have been women in dresses in all the dragon age games to date. I think it was an oversight.

It is a indeed a shame.

Given the way the  Orlesians view the world, I would say Josie is probably having a hissy fit trying to deal with the diplomatic implications of an under-dressed or inappropriately dressed Inquisitor.

Lmao is right eww no offense but why do this instead of just make a simple dress... or just let us choose all of our own casual wear like dao and give many casual options.

my thing is, why are feminine things 'nonsense?' or less fitting of a leader? or less badass? or even primping? feminine qualities do not mean any of those things. and neither does wanting to wear a dress vs. a suit. i agree, it fits really well with some inquisitors! but what about the people who want a feminine male or female inquisitor who is still rightfully a badass? same thing with the walk. i really wish there was an option for either gender to choose either walk that fits their character.

That's fine if you want a Female PC who primps and is feminine and loves to wear dresses. However the game will not let you.

I am just posting my personal wants for a femPC. I want her to be all military and to wear this men's formal outfit.  I like it for my FemPC.  Her swinging hips will ruin it though.

right, it won't let us. which is why it's a suggestion to fix. xD

and again, it's awesome it fits your inquisitor! i was simply commenting that being feminine does not make someone less commanding, focused as a leader, or impending. a walk toggle would also be awesome in a patch. it's all about how people picture their characters and only offering a masculine or feminine option severely limits that.
