Female WWE wrestlers are usually not very buff. Toned, sure, but not buff. Just google 'male wwe wrestler' and 'female wwe wrestler' and compare.

That seems like a bit of complicated programming. To be fair, what I know of programming could fit in a thimble, but it does seem like a lot of effort for such little gain. Well--"little gain" is subjective, but what constitutes "gain" for us might be different for programmers and developers.
Oh, but how I would have loved my Goblin King dance scene. /sigh

Lol, I know. We ask so much of the poor devs, but they should take it as a compliment that we regard their skills so highly!
I know the new engine isn't supposed to be mod friendly, but I hope we get some skilled fashion-centered modders to come to our rescue. The first game I ever modded was Dragon Age II, in order to wear a dress during Mark of the Assassin, different clothes in Hawke's estate, and to give me the ability to change out my companions' armor.
If BioWare can't / won't add in some new selections post launch, then please, here's hoping the modders can.
(And I know console players won't have that option. I'm not trying to argue that PCs are better, it's just what I happen to have. If we are able to at least get some mod fixes, my heart goes out to anyone that can't take advantage of them!)
I like the fact that you can wear a uniform to the game. Can understand it from a developer's point of view. And you know what they say, women in uniform are hot : )
But in all seriousness it can also be because of who the inquistor is. She has been chosen as the bearer of an unknown power. She's the head of the inquistion, one of the (hopefully) most powerful organizations in thedas. She has to go up against mages and templars and all sorts of monsters. Perhaps she has lost a touch of feminity? (Don't ask me further about this subject, I'm just trying to explain it from my point of view)
Off the topic I'm wondering how the dancing will go with a dwarf character, I mean you're roughly half the size of a normal human.
I imagine its something more akin to the dev team not caring to waste time making a bunch of different outfits that will be worn one time for one ball scene

If a developer wishes to discuss his/her point of view of why the story went this direction, I will gladly hear them out. However the developers have stated numerous times, "Dragon Age is about the choices YOU (the player) make."
Ok, so I am allowed to choose what to wear on the battlefield but I am not allowed to choose what to wear at my Inquisitor's homebase and/or going to public events such as this ball? To me that does not make sense. That is like saying, "Well you can shop for groceries at this store and choose up to ten items you want, but, the rest of your food will be given to you randomly."
Just because a woman fights and does not sit around all day reading, does not mean she is no longer permitted to dress as a lady (for once) if she chooses. Do they have bouncers infront of the dress store, stopping you from shopping there? "Sorry, miss, says here, you fight nugs all day. We cannot allow you in the dress store. Try the military clothing store across the road."
I for one, cannot stand getting dressed up in real life. Hell, I wear jeans and tees all the time. However when it comes to my Inquisitor, yes, I would like the option to choose what she wears to the ball.
Orlesian Balls are suppose to be very lavish. So why is my character shoved in an ugly military uniform that looks like it was pulled out of the attic?
The Inquisitor has their own room. Why not allow the player the option of going to their character's closet and pick out something for this ball and what what they wish to wear at their home base? And if you don't want too the game will place the default attire on your character.
Yes, (as I have said before) this is a minor feature, but even minor features can can a huge impact.
P.S. I do NOT find women attractive in uniforms. ![]()

Vivienne does the exact same things(and more) as the inquisitor and she actually does it with style. You can decide to have your female inquisitor hate all things feminine and want to wear a pantsuit even to an opulent event such as a ball but that's not what I want and that's not what many other people want. This is supposed to be an RPG, not a fixed protagonist action game.
That requires a sort of male attitude.

If Femshep can do it why can't Femquisitor? Also I love how the forums auto spellcheck highlighter highlights Femquisitor as incorrect but doesn't highlight Femshep lol.
Oh boy, what have I gotten myself into. Upfront I would like to say I only try to defend the point of view from a designers point of view (not necessarily Bioware's). Not really interested in having a discussion. I know as well that it would cost a lot of time and money if you would try to dress four different races. I'm not sure if you ever tried to design clothes in a 3D program for four different races?

First of all a sentence as "Dragon age is about the choices you (as the player) make." should be taken with a grain of salt. I mean there are always choices that you can't make. In this case apparently the choice to only have one sort of outfit apparently but also not the choice to be able to walk around in the night just as DA 2.
I'm not saying that a woman shouldn't be allowed to choose what kind of casual outfit she should wear. I would love it, if it were possible. My casual outfit in ME2 for my femshep is a dress. But you also might know what the purpose is the inquistor's visit of the ball, namely
And my apologies for my "male attitude" comment. I have already edit it.

I agree with you that it is supposed to be an RPG, but it's the developer who decides what kind of RPG this is and where they want to focus specifically on. Bioware finds the story a much more important aspect. And different people have different opinions of what an RPG is. My standards are very low, I'm already happy with a setting as Dragon Age, the ability to choose my weapons and armor and the ability to interact with my companions. Some have higher standards, nothing wrong with it. What kind of game would you say is a real RPG?
Considering The Game. I'm fairly certain being dressed in finery and mingling with the nobles is part of getting what you need for the Inquisition. There's nothing stopping a female quizzy from being lovely at the ball while being professional and deadly.
Or the Inquisitor is trying to avoid the Game (because it is a waste of time and can very much just backfire) and focus on the task, get the empire to help the Inquisition.

They themselves have focused on customization so heavily that we can customize lip shine, Adam's apple, facial hair for female dwarves, the color and style of our drapery and furniture in the keep, we can craft armor and pick the different pieces and the materials used, the fabric print... as well as the normal CC that is much more detailed than before, races genders, orientations, etc...yet we are uncharacteristically limited at the ball. Some of us have been dreaming of this scene where we would get to dress up in a beautiful dress at a ball for a very long time. Now that we actually get a ball we find out we're limited to raiding our great-grandfather's closets...every girl's dream! ![]()
If we're trying to be discreet and fit in so we can be incognito and accomplish the mission you mentioned then the nutcracker uniform makes no sense. It works against us. No one else is wearing anything remotely similar (and no one else in any of the previous games has either) and it's jarring and out of place. If we want to be covert we should wear what everyone else is wearing which is finery and a mask. (which includes fancy dresses for female inquisitors) If we're going to stand out anyway we should be able to wear our chosen and customized armor (which is already animated for action and combat).
Or the Inquisitor is trying to avoid the Game (because it is a waste of time and can very much just backfire) and focus on the task, get the empire to help the Inquisition.
Avoiding the game seems like the very thing that would leave you at it's mercy.

You may find it to be a waste of time, but I most certainly do not.
I don't care for brute strength and go for a non-military victory when possible. I'll be heavily utilizing Josephine, and then Leliana, and Cullen only if I must. And I find the act of playing The Game in order to gain allies and strength a very fascinating path. The character I had in mind would definitely waltz into a ballroom filled with potential danger or enemies, confidently parading around in some impractical finery (and maybe a murder knife up her sleeve--although as I tend to primarily play mages, I always have a weapon at hand).
All we're asking for here is a chance to let our characters be who we want them to be--which, if you haven't noticed, is a huge focus in BioWare's marketing right now. Allowing me to choose castle decor and material types in my armor and weapons is certainly nice, but clothing is also an important form of self-expression that I and, clearly, many others consider a matter of importance when building their unique characters.
Man, if Morrigan shows up at that ball in her fancy ballgown and I'm stuck as the discount nutcracker prince I'm gonna throw a bitchfit. ![]()

To be fair, they only had to do one model and body type for the dress. They would have to do four different styles for the same effect.
Note that I think the Nutcracker Prince uniform looks out of place, and unflattering. I'm just giving the devs perspective here.

I hear ya, and I totally get it. Still gonna feel so awkward going to an Orlesian ball dressed like that. Meh...

All I keep telling myself is, "At least it's not the MotA party outfit or the grey latex N7 dress."

I do understand that. While I definitely dreamed about an equivalent sort of ballgown for my female Inquisitor, I can accept that it would be difficult on four different races of varying body types.
What I'd at least enjoy in place of a straight, stiff suit is something akin to Josephine's look. The puffed out sleeves or pants, the sash across the waist, some jewels or frills. Or, instead of that, something like Vivienne's outfit with a high collar, a long coat, again, frills. I'd like an outfit that's flashy enough to fit in with every other woman in the room, even if it's not a floor-length puffy gown. And we've already seen armor present with long coats, so I don't think it's much of a stretch to see something like Viv's robes on each of the races. (If modders are able to help in the future and give us their exact outfits, I'll just pretend my Inquisitor raided their closets before the big night.)
As for Skyhold's outfit, I just think it needs color. A differently colored top, or a waist sash (again, like Josie), or a scarf, or darker pants and boots... I still wouldn't be thrilled at having one outfit, but if that thing wasn't just the same color from head to toe, I could be more accepting of it. I don't hate necessarily hate the style, but all of that grey just blurs together in an unappealing way (to me).
