why cant we choose our own clothes like dao
Because DAO had it in the form of "equipping armor" that doesn't seem to be the case for the Orlesian ball mission

I'd love that!
And I would play this game forever. The Landsmeet was one of my favorite moments in Origins. Actually, anything that settled important noble matters. Do I want to play the honorable Ned Stark, ending each action with as much justice as possible? Or play the shrewd Margaery Tyrell, and manipulate the situation into my favor? (I had to do some GoT references, because the politics in that series are by far the most interesting parts for me!)
Edit: And I wish they'd just go the DA:O route in this case. Sprinkle clothing throughout the game and let us equip that if we so choose. If I want to attend a ball in that noble's dress I bought earlier, or run out into the wild in nothing but said dress and a sword, then so be it.
I used to clothes items all throughout Origins. Eventually, if I knew clothing dropped from an enemy, I'd reload encounters in order to collect the outfits if it didn't drop the first time. My party and I spent our time at camp and in cities wearing clothing, and armor would be switched out while out in the wilderness.
Ooooh, DA:A was amazing in that regard of settling squabbles...
I'm going the no armour route in this mages playthrough, so everyone is in clothing or robes. Sten is still wearing his cage clothing, and Leli is in her chantry garb. Which I'm totally okay with!
you could equip noble clothing and casual clothing as well so can you explain how its not the same or why it couldn't have been armour?Because DAO had it in the form of "equipping armor" that doesn't seem to be the case for the Orlesian ball mission

That's what I meant in the form of "equipping armor" in DAO
But they could have allowed equipping gear instead of making one locked special outfit
I really think that this is the best solution. Allow us to equip clothing as an item, just like armor, that way we don't have to have a special setup for clothing that's completely separate. People can sit in their throne in the armor they worked so hard to craft and find materials for, or put on clothes they picked up from their closet, a store, or perhaps that nobleman you murdered a few nights ago...
You could wear a noble's outfit to have that regal look, or something more simple to give off a more humble appearance.
And for the ball, want to stick out and make a scene? Put on that armor. Want to blend in? Some noble's clothes or a servant's outfit it is!

Exactly. Because we know the NPCs are going to have awesome clothes, why not let us have a wardrobe? I'd enjoy stealing clothes off someone's back, hehe.
PS: Whenever I see your avatar before your name or content, I always worry you're a mod about to close our thread. ![]()

I don't think they're doing that this game like they didn't in DA2, or was you suggesting that they could have done it?

Could have is what I said yes
Morrigan can sometimes be a little fear-inducing! I had no idea what to make my avatar, but I loved the new pictures of her. I should grab one of my Wardens or Hawke and change it. Or wait two weeks and do my Inquisitor!
But I could never shut this thread down, even if I were a mod! I think it's the only one I've been super active on. Turn the conversation to character clothes, and that's apparently the one thing I won't be quiet about. ![]()

I saw this pic of Belle and I knew I would never change it. ![]()
Well then we're safe, yay!
It's very cute! Speaking of Belle, I need to catch up on my Once Upon a Time.
... And to not derail off topic, wouldn't a gown like hers have been wonderful?

I still need to get in on Once Upon a Time... I watch Grimm.
Such as... this?

That's a good one! I just put "Belle's dress" into Google and there was a flood of beautiful dresses to make me slightly envious. If sometime in the future modders can put my Inquisitor into one of those ballgowns on the NPCs, I'll gladly turn a blind eye to any clipping issues that arise just for a shot of that moment on the dance floor.

Oh my goodness, yes! Please modders, put all your effort into a perfect ballgown for our inquisitors!
It will take me a bit, but I will do a post on Orlais and Fereldan Fashion and how they compare to the historical influences that they are based on. Though I will state, that some of the designs some are suggesting are just as modern as the suit.
I look forward to it, herkles! ![]()

I'm not sure that it being modern was the key issue. We just wanna be pwetty!
I know I was interested in seeing how Orlesian and Fereldan fashion compare to their historical influences, though, just for the sake of accuracy.
Belle's dress? Um yes please! I would die of giddyness if I could ever wear something close to my favorite princess's dress at the ball. That would have been wonderful.

Well, if you're going by historical accuracy, and I am assuming french fashion, those dresses would have been horrible for battle! Depending on the era, a woman could barely move freely, in fact, most of the time that is where she got her "grace". It wasn't that she was dainty, it was the fact she couldn't eat much without popping whalebone and couldn't walk fast due to hoops, ornaments, hoods and wigs!
However, if you're just going by fashion. I suggest the 17th century baroque period. Those clothes were just fabulous!
Not so great for males, though.
I'd love that!

I do things like that too
Also I wear the best looking outfit all the time unless it's a difficult battle where I have to switch into the stronger armor. In TES and Fallout I have pretty/cool casual clothing outfits hotkeyed and instantly swap between the armor for combat and the clothes for everything else (and I always play in the 3rd person view).
Also I have drawn a picture that shows my feelings on the matter of this outfit lol (though I know not everyone agrees with me on wanting to play a buff lady Qunari)

Hoo boy! Yeah, we can just leave the evil known as the corset out of this. I want nothing to do with them!!! Ever! ![]()
I love knowing someone else who obsessively collects clothes in games! And Nefla, I love that drawing. It's so appropriate. From the first moment we got a glimpse of the ball in one of the early trailers, I've been dreaming about what we'll get to wear.
Morrigan's in a giant, luxurious ballgown? Imagine what we'll have!
Needless to say, I did not imagine that suit. I'll probably be going with a male Inquisitor first, to give either BioWare (more likely, though, modders) some time to work on giving lady inquisitors some new options.
Hoo boy! Yeah, we can just leave the evil known as the corset out of this. I want nothing to do with them!!! Ever!
Me and a boyfriend once dressed up as Rhett Butler and Scarlett O'hara for halloween. I donned a corset and I must say that it was the most miserable four hours of my life. Not only couldn't I breathe, sit or eat, after I removed it, I had deep impressions in my skin from the boning. How in the world those women wore them constantly, I'll never know. No wonder it caused deformation and miscarriages. They are torture devices.
Edit: Before anyone asks why I didn't just take it off--I couldn't if I wanted to wear the costume. The dress was custom made and I was measured wearing the corset, so it wouldn't have fit had I took it off. Standing still for the fitting obviously wasn't so bad. It wasn't until I had movement that I felt like I was going to scream. Which I didn't because I couldn't get enough air to be that vocal!
All we're asking for here is a chance to let our characters be who we want them to be--which, if you haven't noticed, is a huge focus in BioWare's marketing right now. Allowing me to choose castle decor and material types in my armor and weapons is certainly nice, but clothing is also an important form of self-expression that I and, clearly, many others consider a matter of importance when building their unique characters.
And all I am asking is to have a dual wielding warrior. (not happening apparently).
All I want is a good in-game reason why we don't have a choice (like, we just get hint of a assassin and didn't had any other "formal" clothes or it is a masquerade and the empress had chosen the clothes or something)
P.S No I must have missed the "I have the right to have the game exactly as I want" marketing. Is there a link?
(disclaimer: this was a joke)
