I tend not to favor long dresses on women, well dresses that drape behind you anyways. Tis why I am partial for the dresses of the french renaissance/medieval compared to the enlightenment era. Anyways for Orlaisian style I wouldn't mind these outfits.

Not related to this ball, but as the rumors of the next game strongly hint at Tevinter. Tevinter's style that I see from concept art is goth. But as the north is more warmer then the south, and much more tropical. I would like to see some non-western european designs, notably indian for both the men and women. Though to be fair IMO it wouldn't be hard to come up with something better then this dress >>>

Oh My! Draperies!  Yes! - but I'm worried about a Cassandra-like Mod locking us for OT.  Unless S/he has a secret love for decoration like Leli for shoes.

How to answer.  I keep coming back to the idea that you could somehow show us all a virtual tour of your skyhold, it decorations and all the various outfits/hairstyles.

(Obviously impossible in the near future - but still fun to think about)

Wouldn't surprise me if a day (or days) flies by like nothing doing that.

This is a nice image, and as I've said before, I don't hate the uniform... (I even said it did look dashing on the male Inquisitor.)

 

... But I'd still rather fit in with the nobles at the ball with something more elegant than stand out in some military uniform. At least for my female Inquisitor. (Actually, I'm sure I'd play plenty of male characters that would also enjoy something a little more lavish and a little less practical!)

 

I'm even still excited about the ball part of the game overall. I'm hoping the interactions we're allowed (dancing and speaking with the nobles) outweighs the fact that we're stuck in a suit for it. I am, though, still far less excited with each image we get compared to how I initially imagined going into this sort of event.

It seems that all companions will indeed be wearing the uniform so I don't think that will change anytime soon, not even with a DLC.

Has there been any word from the devs about this? No wiggle room for maybe squeezing in a more feminized looking suit so we can have a choice?

I saw an interview, with I think Mark Darrah (sorry if that's spelled wrong), and he said they did actually consider having multiple options for both the casual and ball outfits but didn't implement that idea due to lack of time/resources. Though no explanation for why they didn't prioritize those over the likes of drapery customization, or for why they didn't simply allow us to wear equipable gear instead, which would have required much less time and no extra resources whatsoever

It makes sense, and while I'm sad my Inquisitor won't be able to wear a pretty dress, it's understandable and I'm not even upset about it anymore.

I'm going to have to be a little negative here and say I think I personally like the uniform even less now.  With everyone there together matching, we look like a set of guards or something.  Then again, I don't know the story, so maybe that's exactly why we are there lol.  I do understand the train of thought though with the apparent military organisation approach they're going for....just not a fan.

My big problem is the gloves. They look like gardening gloves, too big and bulky and that weird tan colour.
