neat :D I do hope that if we go to tevinter, that we do get a chance to dress up in finery for some event, perhaps the election of the next Arachon or some sort of evil gala. For some reason, I like the idea of Tevinter having some designs based on Indian clothing. So with that in mind here are some random pictures of men and women.

I adore all the golds and bright colours, those are divine.

I was under the impression though that Tevinter was more Gothic and dark?

To be fair, we haven't actually gotten a good idea of what they look like beyond generic evil mage clothing really, see images below. So I thought that if we ever get to visit Tevinter, add color. You can be oppressive, and evil and still have color.  Plus, Tevinter's main colors seem to be black, gold, and silver. And at EGX Tevinter's color scheme was: white, black, basalt, and obsidian. So it seems there is a precedent for having colors.

Yes, your second image is what I'm familiar with, so that's what gave me that impression.

You could also look through the Dragon Age comics. Aurelian Titus and Maevaris Tilani are good examples of Magisters. And the Venatori here in Inquisition. Their styles tend to go harsh and spiky, or maybe rough around the edges is the best way to say it (like the feathers in the Tevinter robes in Origins, or Mae's fur trimming)?

@CaptivatingKS - as a Goth, I wear black (d'oh!) and dramatic colours like blood red, imperial purple, bottle green, dark gold for contrast.  The red and black sari posted above is now on my wishlist!  :D  My only problem is that, seeing as I am white (and I mean like milk!) I don't know how Asian people would react to me wearing a sari.  I think they are the most gorgeous items of clothing ever invented, but don't want to upset anyone by wearing one!

So I have seen a female Inquisitor at the ball, not wearing her awesome ball uniform. It does look like the scene takes place after all the things that happen (whatever those things are) but I am wondering if anyone can tell me that not wearing the ball uniform is now an option.

Yes and no. You do have to wear it during the ball, but you also slip out of the ball room and get into fights a few times, during which time you can equip armor, and after one of those occurences you can go back to the ball room with armor still on.

Also, you can equip the ball uniform whenever after that mission, which I dunno why you'd do that since your armor most probably looks much better and it has no stats. The thing that ticks me off about me is that you can make it with other materials too, which means there are different color textures for it inside the game, yet we're forced to go with bright red and blue for the ball

"We are going to a ball! I think this would be the most appropriate time in the game to wear something more impractical and flashy."

This was my problem with it also.  Though I'm playing a male character - this is an *Orlesean* ball and we look completely out of place.  up to this poitn (and past it) its made pretty clear that the Orleseans have a damn high opinion of themselves and their cultural practices.

Its a 'military' themed dress and the Inquisition isn't a military organization - we don't even have a uniform.

Plus - some bug or design oversight means that I got *1* mask - but can't wear it during the *actual ball parts*, only get to put that stuff on when in the combat enabled areas and then it comes off when re-entering the public areas.

This is a bit sad really. I was hoping to finally get to wear a dress in this series. Even if it wasn't a super flowy and huge ball gown it would have been nice to wear an actual dress, not like the wedding clothes you get in DAO as a female city elf. Then they throw in this ugly military uniform lol. Oh well maybe next time.

I think the women look very dashing in it. In face because the schematics for it are (currently to me) the most powerful armour for mages my character goes around wearing it (which is a shame as I loved the dragon Armour)

Honestly the casual outfit you're forced to wear at HQ bothers me more. The followers' casual outfits are basically their armor minus some pieces, I want to wear combat attire there also. Plus, while it looks alright on qunari and human, on an elf it doesn't at all, it emphasizes their litheness so much that it makes their head look oversized

I've played through the ball, now, and while I loved the entire section in terms of story--I became even more irritated at the clothing.

^ That's about the ball in particular. And Doominike, I do agree with you. My friend showed me pictures of his elf, and it just doesn't look right on them. I'd really like to be able to pick from at least a few pre-determined Skyhold outfits, if not customize it fully.

The same goes for the ball. I could see BioWare adding in Skyhold clothes in the future, although I don't see them changing quest attire... And that makes me pretty sad. Again, I just have to hope modders can put my female Inquisitor in a dress. And the rest of the female companions, for that matter.

People are not digging having to be Sgt. Pepper at the ball. Admittedly the outfit does look daft on the female inquisitor.

Indeed. Admittedly, I didn't mind it for my male Inquisitor. It's the sort of look that made sense for Cassandra and Cullen as well.

However, for my female Inquisitor, no... Absolutely not. It's not appropriate. That goes for Josephine and Leliana as well. I don't think it suits their personalities.

And I also don't see how Vivienne would have ever allowed herself to be dragged into an Orlesian ball in that. I imagine she'd freeze us in ice for even recommending such a thing.

Can't you bring her and thus force her to wear it though ? I'd totally do that to her if I didn't hate her too much to put in my party

Anyone you take arrives in that outfit. That surprises me, though.

I could see certain party members willingly agreeing to wear it, like Cassandra and Cullen. Maybe even Josie and Leliana begrudgingly going along with it. But I could never see Vivienne wearing it if she had anything to say about it. I'd have liked to see her flat out refuse, which I feel would be in character for her.

Any future disapproval from her is pent-up anger from being forced into that suit. :P

I did, too, Inquisitor7. It also made me want a mod for take care of that outfit for the companions. If Cassandra was then in an actual gown, it turns that dialogue from an unwelcome reminder about this pants suit, and more into a snobby, judgmental outburst of some likely jealous noble!

That outfit should have been the default Skyhold outfit.

Is it just me, or does Bioware just not have a decent clothing designer on staff? They're fine for a few select things (companion designs, Hawke's awesome as hell end-game armor) but everything else just looks... okay at best, really awful at worst. :(

The ballroom is pretty bad just for sticking all of your companions into the same outfit, but I also can't get over the fact that despite Bioware boasting about the awesome variety of armors, there's like... four different versions for each category and then they just get changed the slightest bit when they upgrade to the next tier.
