Lack of auto-attack is actually tempting me to plug in a controller. Having to rapidly click with a mouse drives me insane most of the time.

DA:I combat is Witcher QTE, semi-confirmed!
...and strangely enough, neither of the Witcher games' combat systems bothered me that much. Not entirely sure why.

No auto-attack definately.
When I want to play an action-RPG, I don't play Dragon Age for God's sake.

Probably because it's not just mindless clicking for no reason, but light and heavy attacks, blocking, riposting, dodging and using Signs.
It's also supposed to be largely in real time, contrary to DA pause & play gameplay. And timing is important in W2 combat.
Ehh... I'll wait and see, I'll wait and see... I won't be bitching about it all over the Internet...
Goddamn it annoys me.
I agree with Coverage. I always want to clear out a level before I continue with the next one. And the fact that I'm not that good with fighting, might make things harder. I hope casual in DAI is the same as in DAO and DA2.
Probably the flipping to tactical cam. I really dislike this feature (for pc at least). I'd just want it to to zoom out to isometric. Not only that but from the gameplay videos the zooming out distance even in tactical seems inadequate.
There are quite a few new features.
Having the tactical camera will be strange, since it's the first time on console.
The respawning enemies, since in the previous games, I clear out all the enemies and move on.
Focus on support rather than healing, since previously I'd just let my characters get pummelled and then heal them (though I used a lot of sustained abilities).
(I am curious if I can pull single enemy targets from their groups and not aggro the rest. I have yet to see this applied in the streams and that is how I accomplish playing Nightmare difficulty, I kite like a son of a gun, on the previous DA games.)
Remembering to stack up the buffs constantly (like barrier and the warrior's armor bar thing) and using my potions since I can't hoard them and restock at camps.
No radial wheel and no pausing the game without going to tactical mode on consoles. Healing might be a problem too, but I'll wait and see.
Re-spawning enemies and that action style combat. ![]()
Definitely the 8 hotkey. It really suck not being able to unleash all of your powers. I pray some good soul make an UI mod soon that will bypass this silly limitation.
Really nothing new to add after reading others responses...
So to add fuel to the fire.....
Auto Attack seems strange.
Healing, Different is good. But is this a good different, I don't know yet. I really want to see how it affects Hard and Nightmare style play. I mean, the Twitch streams show these guys getting pummelled even on normal setting. It seems like I will have to restock after each fight at camp as something of a drag.
I always played a 2 H warrior as my primary. I am wondering without healing, how that I really going to work. Do 2H warriors get the Armor buff. (Not barrier, the other thing?)

Of course they do.
I think it's the changes to healing for me. I've read all of the assurances from the developers, but every time I watch a stream they seem to need 3-4 potions per fight. Plus, I have this weird need to be at full health before every fight ![]()
No mods and lack console commands to skip bugged quest steps

I have to agree. I'll probably try it with a controller and see what feels more natural for me. I love playing with Controller for some games where it feels more appropriate but I'll be giving up dat mouse camera control, which is quite a big ask for me. Always found camera control sluggish with a controller.
As for the question at hand, managing combat without healing will probably take the most getting used although I am very much looking forward to it. Think its a great move.
The limitations.
health regen limitations, definitely. I was totally guilty of cheesing the automatic regen out of combat in previous games, so I can see why they're doing it, but for me (from an RP standpoint) de-aggroing and regenerating stood as shorthand for tactical retreat and taking care of injuries before going back in, so the limited number of potions is definitely the issue, more than the lack of automatic regen...
They can harp on about damage mitigation as much as they like, but all the gameplay I've seen so far show the PCs losing a ton of health every encounter even though they're spamming barrier like crazy. Seems like backtracking to camp is now a part of core gameplay, o joy.
I'm on the fence about auto-attack. I think it'll incentivise repositioning for good backstabs for 2W rogues, and thinking a bit more tactically about targets for archers and mages, which, why not. The fairly short cooldowns and quick stamina regen will probably help a lot to make it bearable I think.
I have a feeling it's going to make me hate playing warriors even more than I already do, though.
I'm gonna be a special snowflake and not say auto attack (honestly, it doesn't really bother me)... I'll go with the large open areas. I suck at not getting lost in open world games, and from what I've seen of the mini-map, it doesn't seem very detailed. So for the first time ever, for any game, I've actually bought the strategy guide.
