Since Tali is Quarian, and thus has a dextro-protein based biology, wouldn't Shepards mansauce well... kill her? Or at least put her into anaphylactic shock? It'd at least give her a bad rash.

Don't forget the female fans who assailed the asari as nothing but fanservice. They got their own (dev admitted) fanservice race in the drell.

It would have been better to leave Ash, Kaidan, and Liara out completely, rather than giving them the sort of nothing roles they have in ME2.

I think the only ones who didn't get their wish, were the people who wanted a m/m romance to balance out the f/f one. Bioware's solution there was to eliminate the f/f romance as well.

To be fair, there really wasn't a f/f romance. Asari are "genderless," thus having a sexual encounter with either the consort or Liara wasn't strictly f/f....

...because aliens that have boobs, speak with female voices, and are referred to as "she/her" are meant to be seen as genderless. Right

You know what? I'm just going to drop one Hendel Mitra in here. One of the main characters of Ascension. He was tough, likeable and awesome. He's also gay. If BioWare has such an issue with homosexuality that some of you guys claim they are, then try to explain Hendel. He's a great character, who kicks ass and is overall pretty awesome and just so happens to be gay. It's never flaunted, Hendel isn't used as an object to insult homosexuality or any of those things.
Chill. Sorry there's no homosexual relationships in ME2, but then again, there technically weren't any in ME1 either; keeping in mind Liara is asexual. It doesn't matter how feminine the asari are, the fact of the matter is that for all intents and purposes, there was no same-sex relationships in the game.

You know, you can call shenanigans on Bioware for it that... but TBH I call shenanigans on every sci-fi for making nearly every alien species humanoid, or nearly humanoid. They're all about as large as a human, they all have vocal chords that communicate in frequencies humans can hear (Except Hanar, who are awesome because they talk by changing colors... trippy), they're all oxygen breathing, and are all basically something we can "understand." If we ever did come across a sapient alien species, my guess is it'd be so fcked and weird we'd likely soil our collective human undies.

This provides the perfect explanation for why there absolutely SHOULD be  same-sex option, though. The only reasonable explanation (more like excuse) that I've heard as to why Shepherd shouldn't be gay is because "that's not what the developers/writers intended him to be like." Now, I could take that at face value I suppose. I still have a problem with it, and it surely isn't a great reason, but it held some (very little) weight in comparison to other "reason" that people have proposed. Yet, this all the more supports the idea that a gay Shepherd could be just as "straight-acting" (what a horrible phrase - as if all homosexuals, or heteos for that matter, act one way?) as a straight Shepherd, and therefore the only difference would be that he prefers homosexual sex/romance.

Yet, to go back to what I was saying, and somewhat keep this on topic, haivng the Asari as supposedly genderless is ridiculous and a cheap, unprofessional, immature way of covering their asses. So, shennanigans it shall remain.

I hope the Garrus romance isn't too awkward. As of right now, he's the only Femshep romance I'm interested in (again, aside from Joker if by some miracle those who have the game just missed him as an option) but I don't want the "sexytime" scenes to ruin it.

Honestly, if some players want to have sex with a turian, that's fine. They could do worse than a badass space detective with a sniper rifle.

I defer to a lesser version of Rule 34 in all such matters, fantasy or sci-fi. If a sentient being has a vagoo or a penis, somebody in the story will probably have sex with it.

Bioware can try and Word of God it as much as they like, but asari are biologically female, it's just that term has no meaning in their culture. They have vaginas, they get pregnant, they birth children, and they nurse children. They are women.
