Somehow, the PC is always one who is experienced and never stammer (like Alistair and Cullen) or is oblivious when it comes to romance (like Merrill).

He/she is always the one leading the shy and virginal LI on and/or allowed to be more raunchy than characters such as Zev and Isabela.

I wish this time round, i can play a shy and inexperienced PC who is lead on by either Iron Bull and/or Dorian. I do not mind being raunchy and forward towards Cassandra but once in a while, i think it would be fun to see the PC stammering/oblivious when a ranchy character like Isabela is hinting sex.

I thought in origins, you could be shy and oblivious...that one scene with leliana comes to mind... but with hawke, youre right. it almost seemed like s/he came pre-programed with a certain personality (which I totally loved, I'd romance hawke out of everyone XD )

You can be very shy around Zevran and actually never sleep with him (I think) :) But I agree; I want to play a shy and reserved PC. I hope we have that option :D

Yes, I fully support this idea. I hope we will have some options to play our Inquisitors as shy and inexperienced when it comes to romance. I think it would be adorable.

Bioware doesn't support a lack of assertiveness. Even with the absence of VO, you basically had to really work at the elaborate mental fantasy and ignore how everyone around you constantly deferred to make it work. It's really only KoTOR that I can think of where there's some suggestion the entire party isn't dancing to your tune.

I think this time around we can be shy :) Look back at the Vid with Dalish Female Inquisitor , when you are asked about the Herald Title , you had not 3 but 5 reactions and I believe one of them maybe the Shy reply  ;)

Hmm, you can kinda do this for Leliana. Was true in my Warden's case, her proposition went straight over her head.

"Alright. I think I'll go write in my journal..."

Meh, too much of that in real life for me.

(But actually I agree this would be nice)

While I get people playing it as oblivious, I think those were the troll options (like the trollface Hawke options), or the "get a thicker blanket" response to Morrigan.

I would love for my Inquisitor to be able to act shy around their LI. Hopefully that's in the game.  ^_^

I don't think the journal one was, given the 'Wait a second...what?' right after, but the one where you act like you have no idea what she wants right after she implicitly tells you, very slowly and clearly, obviously was. ("What will we do there?" "Oh, I'll show you my collection of pressed flowers. Obviously...")

Nobody's that daft. :S

I wish we could play as a shy/inexperienced character too, but with the PC needing to initiate everything with a heart command I see little chance of that happening.

The most I think I can hope for is the PC being able to initiate in a subtle way.

I'd like a more shy approach to the romance course I'd also like a more reluctant approach too. I actually have one character who may be more shy/oblivious to romance that I still want in a romance so I would like to be able to be more shyish in the romance that be nice that and reluctant I would love that.

oh yah, kind of agree with this.

but it can be a cute way Alistair giving u a rose and blah blah blah. It would be funny if your LI rejects u because their approval ratings is not high enough. or they are oblivious like Cassandra will be.

I mean in DAO, both Alistair and Leiliana needs to wait for high approval before they move inside your tent. In DA2, all your companions can't wait to get into your pants the moment u choose any heart icon. I hope that doesn't happen again.

I think the most effective sort of trolling is the one where the other person thinks you're playing it straight, but YMMV.

Well, this is one advantage of unvoiced dialogue I guess. We can kind of interpret things like this any which way.

Let's not go down that road. You'll make me disagree and then we'll derail the thread. :P

I am curious to see how the reaction wheel will work, and whether it really supports differing reactions.

I think people have to come to terms with the idea that bioware is telling a story, you have lots of leeway as to how your character will develop within that story but part of the responsability of the player is to acknowledge that they have to work within the story to have the best experiences.

If I refuse to play anything else than a Inquisitor that is an alien here to purge the chantry of left handed redheads all while researching how to change the qun to accept aplple dumplings as an officle food. I am not going to find the experience enjoyable because the game wont let me do what i want to do. (Obvious extremes used to illustrate a point.)

Your character is a leader, you have to lead them or fall its in the trailer. Expect you being a shy wallflower will cause conflicts to the story bioware is trying to write.

I support this notion as well, but eh... we can just wait and see at this point, it's not like they can rewrite the central character of DA:I now.

For the record, I absolutely freaking adored the scene Snook described above. It came pretty close to Aveline's and Donnic's arduous path together. (I don't think Hawke was trolling in this case.)

P.S. Edit: Got time-nabbed by Gothfather, but whatever s/he wrote, I wholeheartedly support. The limits posed by a story-focused RPG are naturally far more restrictive than if you could write the story yourself. On another note, I never got why people got so excited about the "sandbox" (buzz...) character of, say, Skyrim -- I find the options Bioware traditionally offers in its RPGs to have far more impact than me being able to choose where I want to go next. Just my $.02.

You can be a strong leader in many ways but still be unsure when it comes to matters of the heart. Look at Aveline.
