First, let me say I'm fully aware that you can customize the qunari hair and eye color in the CC, even if the look is unconventional. 

 

My question is, lore wise, do qunari have hair colors other than white? Nearly all qunari depicted in the comics and games have had either white hair or bald. Signs point to 'no', but then seeing Iron Bull's black facial hair suggest that if he had hair, it would be black. In one way I think that if qunari have the option to have hair colors such as red, blond, brown and black that such qunari must exist in the lore, and in another way, it could merely an option to allow players to create a character tailored to how they want him or her to look even if it goes against lore. It would be the same way of allowing naturally red, pink or deep purple eyes on human characters (seeing the color wheel slider in the cc). 

 

Also, what are typical qunari eye colors?

Qunari hair seems to be typically white or silver in color, while many Qunari have violet eyes (like Sten). Basically, the Qunari are Targaryens.

I'm bummed that it doesn't seem to have black sclera for Qunari like there were in DA2. Really not liking this whole redesign, actually.

I am sad that the new Qunari model doesn't have claws like they did in DA2 or long nails in general.  The new model, well the new female model looks like a giant elf with horns with dark or grey skin. I mean I like the new Qunari look but  it does have its issues.

If the Qunari had claws, I'm sure many Sera/Qunari Inquisitor plans would have to be scrapped.

obviously we've also seen plenty qunari with skin in varying shades of gray, and at least one with dark hair (Iron bull, from his beard as you say) - there was also that qunari they used in DA2 concept art to represent a party member of hawke's, he had dark hair too.

Well, if we're going THERE I can think of at least one activity that overlarge horns might get in the way of as well. 

I'll miss the claws but on the whole I like to Qunari's look in DAI.

Maybe other than white hair is just very unusual? Like we haven't seen qunaris with jet black skin before either.

Personally I think the uniformed coloration  we've seen so far is more due to laziness/time constraints on the part of Bioware than an active statement of "all qunari look alike". I imagine that it's simply easier to create a model with a few variations in terms of  clothing/armor/body paint and not worry about things like skin and hair color.

Yep.  In one of the CC shots of a male qunari, there is a beard option, so we know that there are beards of some kind.  We haven't actually seen the extent of these options yet though.  One of the CC examples had stubble, but that's it, I think.

Ah, c'mon!  You can play a human in almost every game.  You can only play a qunari in DA: I!  No brainer, man!

I would describe Bull's facial hair as stubble. Haha Still looks good, don't get me wrong.

 

And I hadn't seen that art of Sten. Thanks for sharing!

Perhaps the Qunari dye their hair white as it a demand of the Qun or some other dorky thing. Tal-Vashoth and spies don't need to do this.

 

TBH I am glad the qunari don't have claws. I am curious, though, if the claws were always supposed to be part of their design (like horns) or not. I don't think Ogres have ever had claws.

I keep wondering if Ogres can be hornless. It's driving me nuts! Anyway, who knows? They probably went so very distinct in DA2 because they knew they'd be repeating the same model over and over. Making it very 'other' minimizes that somewhat... Now that they're PCs, they got a bit more human-ified but also more variety. Copper skin tones like Sten and a variety of horns and haircolours ensure that they end up looking like a diverse race without making too much work. (Like figuring out how claws fit into gauntlets. They already sacrificed helmets ).

I think that white hair and violet, red, silver, and yellow eyes with metallic skin color is just common in the qunari race, kind of like how most humans have darker hair colors. Lighter colors like red and blonde aren't exactly uncommon, but not as common as darker colors like black and brown.

Edit: Does anyone know if the hide helmet function will work with Vitaar for qunari?

Like other people said, we've seen CC qunari and concept art with black hair, it's probably that white is just the most common color.

 

Personally, I'm definitely going with white hair though, just because it's something that looks reasonable on qunari but would look odd on the other races. Same reasoning for why I'll be going with yellow eyes as well.

Personally I'm fine with the lack of hair/eye options. It seems realistic to me that a race only has a certain scope of color. After all, you don't see tigers with purple stripes, green fur, and pink eyes.

 

At least not without a lot of dye and significant blood-lose on the part of the dye-er.
