Props to those who have done this. And for sharing your characters.

I am debating doing this in my current playthrough - Female City Elf, Dual-Wielding with her Mother's heart and hands. Using Elvhenan Weapons v2_0  passed down to her through the generations from the Female side of the family. Absolutely beautiful weapons and a great mod.

She made Alistair earn her trust (by me carefully selecting the dialogue flows) and their friendship has been built on teasing each other. Not Automatic. Leiliana beckons on the romantic front. A mourning Leiliana? A tearful Alistair?

Mmmm. Could I do this? In my last playthrough before DA:I. Mmmmmm. We'll see

@above: "There's no need for you take the final blow. Allow me."

"Please, I've done so much wrong."

Deathbed confessions. Better late than never I suppose. I will give that even at the Landsmeet they presented Loghain as a misguided patriot, not a power hungry *******. I still couldn't shake that it seemed he planned his betrayal at least as early as the planning meeting.

Hey ya rohanks. If you ever decide to do the US, highly very likely one thing is going to happen...

When the game ends...and you sitting infront of the computer looking at the screen and reading the slides captions...you are very likely will shed to tears.

It is a very moving ending. I dare say the most moving ending of them all. I guess that is why it is called the ultimate sacrifice.

I did it in my very first play-through of DAO, but it was unintentional. I didn't want to do it but I failed the persuasion attempt for the Dark Ritual, and I just couldn't let Alistair sacrifice himself.

Now, I have five characters and do the Ultimate Sacrifice with my casteless gal. It just feels like a fitting end for her. I don't romance anyone with her and put Bhelen on the throne so it makes it easier for her, knowing that her family won't struggle like they did in the beginning, and that there won't be any heartbroken lovers mourning her.

Even if it's forced on them and they don't admit to being wrong?

However misguided his actions were we can not doubt why he did it and that was for what he thought was best for the country.  Really in my thinking I am doing pretty much the same thing.  Allowing Loghain to fall on the sword so to speak will make him out to be a hero in the common peoples eyes and either will end any further talk of civil war or at least make it far more difficult to start a coup.  For most of the country they won't even know about all the bad stuff he had done and what better way to bring an entire county together than to honor a fallen hero and one that choose death in order to save countless others, sound like anyone you might have heard of though my intent isn't to start a religion discussion.

Not once. I've killed both Alistair and Loghain once each, but all my Wardens are alive.

Then you shouldn't have brought it up. Not even close to a parallel. If you're implying what I think you are, the other was innocent. And yeah, I do doubt Loghain's intentions somewhat because even if he did have good intentions, he was also power hungry. He put himself in charge, had a hand in the Cousland's murder, and turned to a blood mage to poison Arl Eamon.

If there is one truth I've learned from the Dragon Age fandom, it's that every discussion, no matter how it starts, will eventually come around to the only topic that really matters: "Loghain, awesome hero or terribad villain?"  *tongue firmly in cheek*

So because you don't agree with me I am not allowed to express my opinion on a subject...yeah ok that won't happen but thanks for sharing.

If you play on PC, there's a solution to import a dead warden into Awakening and play it with an orlesian warden while keeping the choices made during Origins ;)

Here's the video that explains how to do it :

Ah, thank you.

The Warden is alive in my canon playthrough. I have some playthroughs that died, including my first ever one. It was all very heartwrenchingly sad, but this was by far the heaviest hitter:

Sten bowed once before the Warden's remains and then left without a word, returning to his homeland. His honor had been restored, and when fellow qunari asked if there were worthy people outside Par Vollen, Sten would answer that in all his travels he had only met a single one.

I have killed my Warden (once for each origin) just to see what happened, but my cannon has the warden survive and eventually going off with Morrigan to never never land. Why? It's just makes for a better storyline, IMO.

Did anyone else get the Ultimate Sacrifice achievement after playing The Darkspawn Chronicles? It was a wait.... ......What no that is not how it is supposed to happen moment for me. I took the Dark Ritual route because I romanced Morrigan my first playthrough and I decided to trust her with my Noble.  I finished Awakening, GOA, and Witch Hunter, then went back and did Darkspawn Chronicles so I could get Blight blood for my rogue Dalish to use and I ended up with the Ultimate Sacrifice achievement. I ended up doing the US on the rogue Dalish he was a reluctant hero who in the end stopped the blight for not just his people but for the sake of every race. He disliked Anora, and Loghain made the mistake of selling the elves into slavery. Whatever he thought of those elves who decided to live in human cities they were still elves and those who were involved in enslaving the elves paid for it with their life. So with Loghain dead, to keep Anora from the throne he took the US after putting Alistar on the throne. Also with him dead the claims he was the puppeteer would not have any merit.

My very first time Al died by mistake and my mage warden was WTF? I went to bed and sulked. Played again the next day and never let Al die again. CE has died and so has DE. Must admit not much on the emotional pony with either of those deaths. Was waiting for much weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth. I have been thinking about it tho'. Only (so hesitant) one of them will put Anora on the throne. Nooooooooooo!

Thank the Maker - it never actually happened - it must have been a nightmare.

Yep, the slide about Sten is emotionaly very deep imo.

From DA:O, I guess that Sten is my best buddy :)

As for the ultimate sacrifice, I did it on some occasion but my canon is alive since he was romancing Morrigan so the dark ritual was kind of logical, even if she was not very trustwhorthy the whole time.

Hey just explaining my reasoning. I never let him live but that is not because I dislike him as much as I just haven't got around to one where he lived. :P Also why not Snocones?

I have done it once or twice, but I think I would be more inclined to do it if it wasn't retconned in Awakening.

My canon Warden is fondly referred to as 'Poor Dead Surana'.  :crying:

It really is very very sad. I have a video of it on YouTube, to remind myself how awful it is (and make sure I'm not tempted to go there ever again).
