It really is very very sad. I have a video of it on YouTube, to remind myself how awful it is (and make sure I'm not tempted to go there ever again).

as soon as I heard his voice - lump in the throat, and that was for your poor dead Surana, not my Sorcha. I think that I'll grant him the together forever part.
The Maker owes me.

Nope. I do the ritual every time.

Yep mostly on my males though.
It really depends on how willing I am to recruit Loghain because I really dislike doing the DR.

The Maker smiles sadly on his Grey Wardens...
So the Chantry says...
As no sacrifice is greater than theirs...

Fare thee well my love...

Oh God no... The one time I did the US, I was in a Romance with an unhardened Leliana. The Epilogue implies she kills herself out of grief.... NEVER AGAIN! When I saw that I reloaded my save and did the DR with Morrigan...
In subsequent playthroughs I always either did the DR or recruited Loghain so he could find redemption before death.

Becoming queen with Alistair as a female human noble, and then sacrificing yourself was one of the saddest moments in a game I've played. Then being a dwarf noble and romancing Leliana was less sad, but still extremely upsetting, with the only thing less sad was that Gorim made his appearance, and the talks or being a Paragon.

I actually cried when I read that part. Honest I did. It was just so so beautifully sad what happened to Leliana that time. I was totally moved. So unexpected it was. So sad.

Same here, but when I did it with two separate saves of the same Warden, one where he dies and one where he slaves and I got the trophies for seeing all possible endings. I know that there are four possible endings and I only did two.Yes
...sort of
...not really
I was going to for my male human mage, but then the achievement came out of nowhere after l loaded a previous file.

If there is one truth I've learned from the Dragon Age fandom, it's that every discussion, no matter how it starts, will eventually come around to the only topic that really matters: "Loghain, awesome hero or terribad villain?" *tongue firmly in cheek*
Yea, I'm reading the two posts above yours thinking OH GOOD GOD not this argument again... ![]()
As to OP, I have done US several times. My fractured keep state is going to be a US Amell who did everything 'wrong'. She put romanced Alistair on the throne with Anora and recruited Loghain, forcing both of them to live with each other until Loghain goes to Orlais, killed every companion I possibly could--even Dog--in the worst possible way, then flung herself on the Archdemon. Curious how the world state will be.

Wow! I never thought of creating something like that for any given character....wickedly brutal I say. And at the same time, like you said, curious how the world state will be. Interesting...wickedly brutal...but interesting. Perhaps I should say, interestingly wickedly brutal.

If I remember correctly, I've done the US 3 times. All female elves. Each from different Origin. I might have a problem.
Kael (Kai) Mahariel did it because she had little to live for after the Blight. The clan was gone and her duties as a warden would always keep them away from her, her relationship with Gilmore was slowly falling apart and her best friend was dead. So she went out while she was still happy.
Tatiana Tabris distrusted all mages, so the ritual was not an option and she would not sacrifice another. So she left Leliana at the gates and went to meet her destiny.
Lythine Surana had cast the apostate out of the group and did not accept her return. She left Alistair at the gates, so if she would fall, he could go and get the other wardens (which she had wanted to do in the first place).
The others just did the ritual or used Loghain. (And there was one lady elf who survived!)

I have never been able to do this. I love my wardens and don't have the heart to kill them. ![]()

Yes i know is sad but you prevent the rise of a new Damian bastard-serpent
Ultimate sacrifice for a good hero is indeed a great sacrifice.

I did it once, with a Warden who was basically an awful elf that hated everything and everyone and treated all of his companions poorly, finally deciding to take it upon himself and trade his own life to take down the archdemon.

It makes sense that she would say that, given what she's said to the Warden prior. She considers survival to be of the utmost importance and values practicality above most other things (this is the same person that opposes giving Bevin's sister money for the sword), and she's providing the Warden with a way out.

In the end she will regret this view of life, sacrifice is everithing, survival is nothing, everyone must die eventually even Flemeth no one can escape from death
