Yes...I've been thinking of that as well. The bodies disappear quite quickly , and many of them tend to explode into itty bitty pieces when shattered or hit with big bolts of lightning...which has me thinking that there is really only one possibility...

The zombies/undead/skeletons/pets are simply summoned from the ground...and hopefully they are more akin to being like DA2's Dog summon...they stay with the character until the character leaves the area or until the zombie dies...also....they could just have it where the summon only lasts for a set period of time (2-3 minutes or something) and some of the Necromancer upgrades increase that time, the zombies look, health and damage...

But we're likely not going to find out until the 18th.

I'm thinking they'll just pop up, too. Which honestly is probably a lot easier than trying to target a dead body in the heat of battle.

Doesn't everybody associate necromancy with blood magic and it being evil magic in general during "Act of Mercy" in Act 1 of Dragon Age 2? Even Aveline sees risen skeletons and says "Well, there's only one way out for these mages now." (in regards to dealing with the oncoming Templars)

I think it is more that there is some overlap, as necromancers who use blood magic seem to be able to raise a lot more minions than they might be able to otherwise. People who engage in necromancy might be more willing to engage in blood magic as well. Further, blood magic has cast a certain stigma on many things, including the study of anatomy. It wouldn't surprise me if that stigma included necromancy as well. However, it doesn't appear to be nearly as bad as blood magic, as the Chantry hasn't taken steps to discourage its practice in Nevarra.

We don't know that. Most of Thedas cremates their dead for the purpose of avoiding re-animation, and if DA2 is anything to go by, the majority of people will associate it with Blood Magic, which would certainly give it a stigma, even if it is technically erroneous. Then there are issues with profaning the dead and so on.

Because of this, I have a feeling that Necromancy of a corporeal nature will have a very limited presence, if any.

That stigma obviously isn't on the same level as that against blood magic, since the Chantry tolerates its continued use. Really, I think they chose to put Necromancy in because while it is "edgy", it is just far enough inside the line that you won't suffer the same disadvantages a blood mage would in the position of Inquisitor.

I'd love it if our minion was bound to us and had an outrageous personality ... surely a lot of coding work and VO for one spec, but OMG that'd be fun!

Do they? The presence of one spell in DA:O is rather inconclusive, given how much of known lore from DA:O has been modified, retconned, or outright removed. Necromancy is never stated to be accepted by any society (barring perhaps Tevinter) anywhere. Even in Nevarra, the Mortalitasi are renowned for performing burial rites, with their practice of Necromancy being a rumor (now recently confirmed true through an item description). Outside of Nevarra, the Mortalitasi are called many things, all of them unsavory: death cultists, "ghoulish surgeons" doing barbaric work, duplicitous, practitioners of macabre rituals...
