I don't pay attention to hairstyles, all that much, but these looks really boring. No more variations, seriously ?
And It is hard to tell from that image, is there anything even remotely looking like the short pigtails from DA2 ?

Nope. If you liked Anora's hairstyle, kiss that goodbye as well.
That was all of the options for female PCs. Unless they decide that a DLC is worth it, that's what we are getting for now.
You think so? I thought most of DA2s hair looked like lego pieces!
True, but at least the cartoony style of DA2 meshed better with it. DA:I has such realistic faces and then bam! Hair that looks like discount vanilla Skyrim hair (which is better than Qunari hair which looks like Morrowind lol)
I am glad we have so little to complain about. I mean really...nitpicking hairstyles?
How my characters look is important to me. I couldn't care less about things like isometric camera and combat style. Those kinds of things are nitpicks to me.
Sorry but for a AAA game the hair is a complete embarresment.
Five years in development for this? Really?

Technically 3 years
Did we seriously, seriously need THIRTEEN variations of bald/really short hair? I mean god damn, who thought of these hairstyle options?
I'm willing to bet that those are based off of what the engine has done in previous games. Since this is an engine that has, up to this point, been used for military-style first person shooters, there is a lot of variations of shaved/bald/close cropped already there. That doesn't entirely excuse the utter lack of variety.
Bah. At least, unlike all three ME games, there is a couple of styles I really like. That's a step in the right direction for me.

Plus three styles that are shaved on the sides/one side. The hairstyles that don't involve a razor are in the minority. A bizarre design choice, in my humble opinion.
Edit: You're probably right, Natashina. Those marine styles likely didn't require much, if any, extra work from Bioware devs since they were already utilized by other games. Still, I would cool down the shaving obsession just a tad and add a few braided/bun options.

No arguments from me. ![]()
24 hairstyles available for Humans/Elves/Dwarves, and more than HALF of them are shaved buzz-cuts. What gives, Bioware?
I've been trying to stay positive and hope that there were a few more hairstyles for female characters that we haven't seen, but it REALLY looks like they designed a bunch of "male" styles, a few unisex styles, and then a couple that are more appropriate for gender conforming females, but still don't look all that hot (at least from what I'm seeing on that female elf's head).
Like the taupe tracksuit I'm forced to wear in Skyhold, this isn't a deal breaker, but it's still a bit disappointing.
I like the haircut in the OP.
Perhaps they have a problem with texture clipping with long hair against the armor?
So...not a single long-hair option designed for males?
Looking at this, all the longer length ones from the bottom 2 rows are strictly suited for women. Apart from maybe the weird Skrillex type one. But even that one I'm not sure.
Guys it's definitely possible to create long hair that won't clip with armor. With the technology they've had for the last few years they could even make it bounce off the armor like real hair (wtihout animating every single plane), but simply making it so the hair is "attached" to the armor would work too. Considering that they can make collision effects with the environment and enemies, why is hair any different? Clipping is not a real excuse anymore, especially for having 13 variations of the same boring style. Where are the intricate buns/updos and ponytails? The first two games had far more variations than this. They're all so tragically uninspired. :/

Actually they seem more designed for men. Funny how people look at the same thing and see different things. Regardless, I see a few I can stand. 13 bald variations seems pretty overkill but I never liked the hairs in previous games either. I see 3 I might like. Will have to see how they look in the CC before I can say for sure.
I hadn't really thought about it until just now, but I wonder if we'll have the same hair restrictions when we build Hawke, which might make Hawke look quite unrecognizable for a lot of players. Or if Hawke can have comparable hair to the styles in DA2, in which case, I'd wish my Inquisitor could get in on those.

Have you seen the screenshot of the default male Hawke in the new engine? He looks like the default Trev with a mop on his head and a beard eating half his face. ![]()
Dark hair seems to be the way to go, shame I'd planned for my first character to be blonde.
I know it could be worse e.g. the qunaris' 4 varieties of bald could have been carried over to every race but these choices combined with the rough texture are really disappointing.
Ah, I had only seen the default female Hawke, who looks like she's had a trim, but I thought it resembled the shorter style from DA2's character creator. It might be the short, shaggy Inquisitor 'do, though. It is harder to tell with dark hair.
Damn I didn't think about Hawke. My canon Hawke is a ginger--which means these straw-pudding textures will glare at me every time I look at Kit.
Ahh well, at least this time I can give her proper freckles without mods. ![]()
Spoiler
Looks like John Richardson from 1,000,000 years BC

Strictly talking longer length options, these are the only ones I see as ''long''. Others are medium to short length.

You're telling me these are designed for males?
I can maybe concede you the last one. But the others?
unless you intend to have your Inquisitor in drag, those are definetely not suited for straight males.
That you do not like them I can agree with however.

Huh. Looks like he has the same hair they're giving default female Hawke.
Those are just all the hair options for women right? RIGHT?
