Don't be silly. Everyone is welcome to express their opinions.

Still, I do kinda feel bad for all the devs who weren't responsible for the... sillier looking hairs that no one will ever use. They put all the work into making this a great game and whoever designed number 3 here:

I see several hairstyles that look okay, does that mean I'm not welcome here?  :?

Whatever floats your boat.  :)

"Several" out of what, twenty-eight, still doesn't seem like they did all that good of a job, though.

aw, I don't like this because hairstyles are the single most important part of CC for me. I care nothing for using dozens of sliders to sculpt the perfect face. In RPG's I always just pick one of the default faces and then spend a lot of time editing the hair, beards, and eye-color.

To learn that they gave so much attention to almost every area of the CC except hair options is disappointing. Hopefully, they'll look a little better in the actual game...maybe.

It looks like the Inquisitor went to a hair salon with stylists from the "School of Sera's Hair Cutting Techniques".

These hairstyles are what happens when no one has a mirror

I don't understand this obsession DAI seems to have with the sides of the head being totally shaved down to basically hair stubble. A lot of styles would look OK if they didn't have that weird choice.

It's made worse by the terrible hair texture.

I don't think it's DA:I"s obsession.  As I mentioned before, I think all those variations of shaved/stubbled hair was already existing in the engine.  Frostbite has been on FPS games up to this point.  Now, why the devs couldn't vary on it and/or get rid of the ones that are almost identical is another matter.

I personally think it could be worse as long as there are two good ones(makes choosing sooo much easier), besides BioWare has never had a good track record with hair modeling.. Hah or eye focus, I still have nightmares of mass effect 3

So they struggled with the dudebro shaved head with a stubble default of the FPS? Fair. And I think that'd be why FB3 has issues with hair. UE3 was the same. Unless there was a custom face model, and even then long hair was basically nonexistent.

Oh ya, I definitely get annoyed when people start throwing the "lazy" word around, it's nuts to me when people use that to describe changes/things they dont like. You cant exactly be lazy and contribute to AAA game design.

You can be lazy and get any job you wish. You might have to couple this with being a great BSer or being well connected.

But laziness isn't a bar from any type of employment.

I've said it few times before, but quality of hair is really, really not something that can be blamed on the engine without invoking that saying about workmen.

Case in point: a character made in UE3, i.e. one of these engines that are supposedly so poor at this task. Scroll to 0:25 or so to see close ups with the helmet off.

The kicker: that was still work in progress. The finished model looks like this Unfortunately the beard was somewhat trimmed with this one, but I'm including it mainly for the final version of the hair.

Whoah. Fair enough.

Also, I can't stop laughing because that's almost a carbon copy of my own hairstyle. It's kind of surreal.

Nice job in the CC.  Looks a little like a young George Clooney.

I wonder how taxing that is, though, in an actual real world(virtual) environment. I mean, I'm sure my PC could handle it, but how many couldnt?

The mesh itself looks fairly standard, no high polycounts or anything. So I guess most PCs could handle it.

It's the textures + normal map that make his hair look awesome IMO. These textures might be a little taxing for lower end PCs but it could be resized and still look good.

I dunno, it still looks like a high count to me, for the hair, but its been a few years since I've messed with that kind of stuff. I mean, dont get me wrong, I'm sure there is quite a bit of room for improvement for the hair and textures, I'm just curious at the resource costs, considering this also comes out on 360 and PS3.

There is short hair that looks like Cassandra.

Remember the ballroom picture?

Oh and just FYI, the undercut is not a marine hairstyle.

No, I don't see anything like this

Q7RVYJI.jpg

And that ballroom hair is way too long for me

I don't know, maybe I was wrong, but after typing "marine hairstyle" in google graphic I saw only that undercut hairstyle, so I thought marine = undercut, but yes, you're right, the results for undercut are more accurate. Thanks
