Heads spinning around like owls, lol.I personally think it could be worse as long as there are two good ones(makes choosing sooo much easier), besides BioWare has never had a good track record with hair modeling.. Hah or eye focus, I still have nightmares of mass effect 3
What is it with these awful hairstyles?

This is new? I thought the DA series was always well known for it's shitty hair styles. At this point it's almost a charm point for them, like their mage hats. (I kind, those hats can burrrnnnnnnn.)

It's not minor when your hair pokes through the helmet or through your shoulders. They have to approach it carefully, with more time than they could allocate.
I don't claim to have statistics. The logical approach is to not force people who pay for quality to have to see persistent clipping on their characters.
Also it's not so much about only what consumers want. The designers at BioWare have made it clear that they dislike clipping, and it's their game to make.
---
Patches usually fix content that is already available in the game with the occasional addition (or removal) that would make sense in the context of the patch.
So patches are free.
DLC, such as adding hairstyles (and a character re-creator) is purely additional content that did not exist in the base game. Time and money is spent to make these new additions. If they choose to charge the player base for it, then it's completely logical to do so. If they don't, I assure you it's for a reason (PR is one).
That's a very detailed and interesting potential description why the hair choices are limited at this time.
I'm guessing too they tried other hair styles and had appearance issues esp. clipping, and just ran out of resources to sort it out.
But, I think it could be said that Bioware is aware that for many of us fans, hair choice is a BIG part of our RPG experience and many of our likes are much more feminine and detailed than what is offered at launch (The non-materializing conceptual Bioware braid models were lovely!).
There has been a helmet hide toggle in the past.
So that makes me think - why not release a batch of hair styles clearly marked and branded as "experimental" - use at own risk re: clipping, and use helmet toggle liberally. Even a few hairstyles at this point from the braided selection that were likely made and tested.
Most more feminine/cute/elegant/beautiful hair fans would understand (some perhaps after a Bioware public statement) that it's a new engine and it wasn't meant for hair and that it takes alot of time and resources to get it to work right. It's a reasonable hindrance to understand. New engine. Hair is resource intensive. Maybe we must wait for perhaps a few years (hope not).
This way there is least some choice for those of us that enjoy "less vanilla hair".
At the same time fans are part of the maturing process that goes on with a game engine.
I'd take a clipping hairstyle over the current vanilla "military/rogue/modernistic" hair-choices offered in a heartbeat.
Obviously it's too late now with launch date happening ASAP to include it at launch.
But, this thread (and another thread in Feedback) has done a great job showing it's about making it known that there's a passionate group of fans with similar wishes and we need Bioware's help to make our game experience delightfully memorable!!
So anyway, too late for launch.
So yes, Bioware - please please consider offering hair DLC (add me to the list who would pay).
Or please toss us a modding bone, and give us some kind of a headstart in being able to import hair meshes and textures into runtime.
PS. I'll see if I can live with one of the the hairdos when I make up my character in 2 weeks.
If I'm unlucky and not, I may have to put myself on ice and check back.
After waiting for a over year and half for this amazing game I'm not sure how that will go.
Yes, some of us have a gene that loves appearances in our personalized game that much. ![]()
To those that don't - lucky you! ![]()

Oh, but don't worry, we get tattoos that every other race can choose from form the start of the game instead of helmets ![]()
Can someone explain to me again how toxic facepaint provides any sort of protection? I'm not saying that it isn't badass to go around wearing facepaint that would literally kill any other race, but it just doesn't seem like it would be able to replace an actual hlemet.

Totally off-topic, but that healthy list of snacks made me giggle. A few years ago I began an organic diet(when possible) and I eat really healthy. However, whenever a game came out I would still eat my Doritos and Mt. Dew. I would get so sick from where I was used to eating healthy, so now all my gaming snacks are organic, nutritious and healthy. I really wish you'd see the looks my friends gave me. They're used to it now, but when I first offered them hummus and pita chips instead of Cheetos, you'd have thought I was asking them to eat human babies. It really is pure fuel, though. (The hummus. Not the babies)

haha Yep. Hair, nails, teeth, weight management, etc. are all improved with a healthy diet. IMO, organic food just tastes better. I am prone to horrible ear infections and I have to say since I have been eating healthy, the rate I get them has improved. I won't lie, sometimes I still get a hankering for Wendy's Spicy Chicken sandwich, but knowing it won't settle well keeps me from giving in.....mostly. ![]()

Oh I'm not gonna pretend I eat healthy all the time. Nature box is easy. Just the other day I had Wendy's Pulled Pork Sandwich(which was good as hell).
