I am surprised by the lack of braided styles.  I do have two or three I can work with.  Do not like all the buzz cut options.  Too little variations between them to justify having so many.

Bleh. There are only two options I even kind of like for my human female mage. The longish one Mike Laidlaw's inquisitor had and the longish one w/ shaved temples. The first one is decent but kind of plain, and the second reminds me of the Cassie/Rihanna teen popstar hairstyle that was trendy a few years ago. Certainly not ideal but I suppose I'll have to make it work. At least w/ darker hair the shaved sides are less noticeable.

I'm satisfied w/ the male hairstyles. Most are ass ugly but I do like a handful of them. And I like the male qunari horns/hairstyle selection, I like those too. I don't think I'll play a female qunari because her choices are lacking in that aspect.

I'm excited about male dwarfs after seeing Cameron's in the stream - the same one in the CC vids too, I think. He looked great.

I haven't seen an elf of either gender that I especially like or female dwarf and that's kind of disappointing.

I always have an easier time w/ male characters in the CC than I do female - that's always how it shakes out for me - and I don't think DAI will be any different sadly. I'm determined to make my first inquisitor a human female, but after that, I may make only dudequisitors. :(

There are no male or female hair styles this time around, it is all the same to everyone. So... I do not get it what you mean the MaleInq hairstyle are better.

Well, a lot of the "buzzcut" styles look to me like they're meant to be black/ethnic hairstyles, so I wouldn't want to see those cut from the game in favor of others, but, I question the shaved temples, tiny ponytails, and mullety styles in the long hair sections. Eek. I don't get why those were chosen for the CC.

Yeah the hair styles ar a tad bit lacking. Would of like to see more buns and braided hair options. Also more hair general for qunari.

What if instead of saying this or that should not be on the CC, people could ask for more hair styles and not less? because not everyone is displease with them.

Oh it is a binary gender thing than, well that makes a little more sense.

I think I'm going with this one for my male elf. It doesn't look so bad

I can't complain for my male Inquisitor since he'll be sporting a buzzcut and those look fine. But for my female Inquisitor...the hairstyles are ****** horrible. Oh, and the poor Qunari. I really, really hope they release more hairstyles as DLC or something.

I didn't mean to imply that I didn't like having them in there or that there shouldn't be a decent selection of them.  Just that, the selections we do have are so similar to each other.  More variety is all I'm asking.

Or maybe free patches.

Unlikely.  <_< I dunno, I feel if something is obviously lacking, it should be fixed for free. Not charged for.

But I'm not very money minded. Not that I can't think business, but I figure treating customers right > quick buck.

>.> This is a shorter version of what SOME kids in school used to wear in the 90's... I really dont understand the appeal, but to each their own.  The lack of fading with hairstyles is like nails on a chalkboard to me. Dorian seems to pull it off, but the dude is pretty good looking guy, so he gets away with what I consider a bad haircut.

To be perfectly honest after watching this

I'd just like to say I'm not one who complains at all... But I hate most of the hairstyles and can tolerate only like 2 of them?  Honestly I prefer all of these hairstyles on females by miles, whether feminine, tomboyish or even in between... Males on the other hand... *edited out because too harsh*

I guess I'll try to work around that, but hair styles (for males especially) need to be worked on >.> Some of us don't have buzzcuts, half cut hair (for lack of better term) or grow our hair that much <.<

Well, if bioware ever wants suggestions from a pro hair-stylist who does both old and new styles, I volunteer my mother.  :P

Well, yeah, it would be extra lovely for them do add more hairstyles with a free patch but I wouldn't complain too much even if it was paid - of course, as long as they add something substantial and not just another shitty bun variation or mullet or pathetically small ponytail. I don't care if the hair moves or even the occasional clipping. I'd rather have that than be stuck with those sad excuses for hair.

I'd love a long, curly option. Like you, I don't really care about clipping-- I just want long hair that doesn't have to be tied up.

Preach! I'd LOVE a hairstyle like the one Marlene Dietrich has in my avatar. And yeah, long hair that isn't tied up, although I would not mind a decent ponytail that doesn't look like something a 90's school girl would wear.

I'd like hair like my own. I have natural curly hair that goes past my shoulders. Sometimes I look at games with CC and think "You know I exist right"  :P

I'm pretty sure this hairstyle isn't supposed to look like this:

1-create-inquisitor.jpg

I think it's supposed to be all shaved on the side. Like so:

Even so, not a fan. I think they were trying to make Natalie Dormer's hair  :P It looks amazing on her though.

If anyone could pull that hairstyle off it would be Natalie but yeah, not a fan of it either. But I can see some people liking it, if they want their inquisitor to be punk-ish I guess  :P

Yeah, I'd love hair like my own too, but my hair reaches down to the small of my back, so I doubt that would happen in a Bioware game, at least not in this generation of consoles lol.

As for the ponytail, I think these would look nice:

Low-Ponytail-Hairstyle-How-To.jpg

low-ponytail-2011.jpeg

They could even make it a low bun in that fashion. I just hate high ponytails/buns.

And I would turn to blood magic for a hairstyle like the one in my avatar, here's a bigger picture:

I think the issue here is more a technical one than "let's not bother to make nice hair". I'm sure they tried to make hair as nice as possible, but ran into obstacles that made it necessary for them to stick with what we have now.  For one thing, I seriously doubt any artist would be satisfied with a lot of these hairstyles. Clearly someone had to make a decision to give up on fixing hair and focus on other things.

Yet for some developers, if their game relies on having X on technical side, and no suitable existing solution is available, they go and make it for themselves.

That said, I think that "do not 100% get why their fans like their games" comment is false, especially on this issue. Bioware would have to be demented to even begin to think "lush and lifelike" hairstyles is one of the reasons for their popularity. :)

I was mainly referring to the past games, since DA:I cannot be judged on that account yet. Fact is, if you are a fan, you cannot look at ME3 ending with "Yep, this is awesome and exactly what I wanted". I believe that if you are AAA developer your job is to satisfy your core audience first and foremost and leave all the experimental stuff to indies.

Likewise, the idea that character design and creation is neglected is ridiculous. Have you see the degree of control we have in the character creation? It's remarkable, and extremely detailed. Just because the hairstyles are bad does NOT entail they neglected character creation. Indeed, I think the depth of the CC is ample evidence that the hairstyles are the result of limitations they encountered rather than neglect.

The characters in DA:I look dated compared to other next gen titles. Facial animations are a bit stiff etc. As for CC, sliders are cheap, I think they mainly just apply morphs to preset models.

I love ponytails on my female characters.

There is one that's already available so I'm gonna use it.

Bleh... I originally thought maybe one of the longer styles could work on a male character (Half shaved skrillex type) but not after seeing it from the back now.

With the way its carefully swept around the shoulder, it looks feminine or too ''styled'' for what I'd be going for.

I mean was it really too complicated to have a plain normal long hair option similiar to Blackwall's?

I'm actually not picky with hairstyles, the previous two games did great I think, but the choices for the inquisitor are mostly just lame. Meh.
