Really dont like any of them male hair cuts that been posted, there too "styled" for my liking, guess it be the close shave option again

When i make a male character i prefer the wild barbarian look, i really hate this "stepped out a barber shop" look on male characters, no idea why it annoys me so much lol, even on my female chars when the long hair option there i tend go right tied back look or again wild all over the place if loose, if rogue type char i tend to make it short like the blonde lassie featured in the twitch stream.

Am a picky bstrd when it comes to my characters though tbh but like always i will find something among everything on offer that "will do" the trick

In the interest of figuring out what people are looking for I will now post hairstyles from other games
*SNIP*

Simply put I'm looking for something along the lines of what Vaas from far cry 3 was rocking or Turok.

I'd prefer give a more informed comment about the hairstyles of DAI once I have the game and I can see all the hairstyles.

But for now I have only se two styles I like, and since hairs where never a strong point in any BioWare game so far, I will not hope for more.

But I can hope for future DLC, or someting like that.

I'm sad there aren't longer hairstyles aside from one or two, but it's not the biggest deal. I'm hoping for some CC DLC down the road.

I've seen quite a few women and I have never seen a woman with a high and tight. Where you live, are there numerous women walking around with their hair shaved on the bottom with a little tuft on top?

I seriously doubt it.

FWIW, I'm not denying that any woman, ever, could have a high and tight, just that it's very uncommon. Just like if I saw someone wearing a dress-sure, occasionally men wear dresses, but 999 times out of 1000 if you see someone in a dress, it's a woman.

Honestly? Yes, there are. I, myself a woman, once had a high and tight and I know plenty of women who have one, as well.

since the DA:O there was a lack of good hairstyles, but atleast some of them were made by moders and some of those were realy good. But I am affraid that with DA:I there is some sort of hipster pop-culture lurking in shadows...

I like them, but for all that is good in the universe I hope they also have more stereotypically feminine hairstyles. A nice curly hairstyle would be nice. :(

I dunno, maybe it's because I have fairly short hair myself, but I think those styles look pretty decent. There's quite a few styles I can picture my Inquisitors with, so it'll be fun to decide which one to go with in the end. All in all I do hope there is more choices so that some of you who are currently unhappy can have some other options.

Not a fan of the recurring mushroom-shaped-hipster-cut or Lisbeth Salander-inspired-skrillex-hair-do either. I think what's worse is that most of the hairstyles are so recurring & reused amongst the NPCs that it almost feel like I'm viewing a Bethesda game. I suppose that makes the given inspiration from Skyrim tragically quiant.

I do not want for us gamers to pay for DLC to fix horribly bland haircuts. Things like hairstyles, developers should get them right out of the box.

Most of the hairstyles look bland and they look like the Inquisitor has just gotten out of a bad barber shop.

As for saying that this is the Frostbite Engine which is mainly created to have soldiers with buzz cuts, that is no excuse because we have characters like Dorian and Josephine, both of whom have good looking hair.

Indeed. That's why I said those hairstyles are out of place on top of being ugly.

I vaguely recall these things actually looking good in some of the earlier material. What happened? And if there was a problem, why replace them with something that could serve as the incarnation of ugliness?

This is par for the course for Bioware. Hair has never been... very hairy. I looks like it's held in place with wood cement usually. It's just something we have to deal with until they solve what technical problems continue to hold them back from making hair behave somewhat like hair actually does. Look at "Shadow Of Mordor"

Spoiler

The dude has longish flowing hair that causes no significant problems in animations/clipping. It IS technically possible, Bioware. Maybe hire some technicians from Ubisoft as consultants?  ;)

I think it's all a matter of Engine, actually. :P I have to agree, though. Talion's hair is FABULOUS.

So...you're complaining about a single hairstyle (maybe two since you didn't seem to like the other 'shaved' style)? I mean honestly...I don't get it...the game isn't catered toward you and other people have different taste. Personally...I love women with short hair, and shaved hair styles can look gooood....hell...just look at comicbookgirl19...

Regardless....there are plenty of "proper" options available to you and no one is forcing or even suggesting that you use a hairstyle that you don't like....honestly.....I think you just need to take a step back before making a topic like this -_-.

The one question that I have to ask, in light of all this, is this :- "Is the Frostbite Engine really awful at hair rendering ?"

I mean if you look at what we have seen so far, the Frostbite Engine can render environments well but things like hair, evidently not. It is as if the engine not programmed to handle lots of hair varieties.

Contrast this with the Red Engine for Witcher 3.

http://www.youtube.c...h?v=xx8kQ4s5hCY

Geralt's hair in the demo is so realistic. It is long and it even has its own motions.

Contrast this with the short, non-moving, not very diverse hair we have for DA:I.

I am starting to think that while Bioware may need to step their game up in the hair department, the Frostbite Engine is the main culprit here. It is after all made to handle big gorgeous environments that are destructible, not high quality hair.

For those interested, I got a lot of screenshots of the male elven hairstyles from one of the CC demos.  I think I missed a few, particularly the shaven variants, and I know there was a chin-length style that framed the face I didn't see on the stream...but I thought I'd post them here, since this is an appropriate spot for them.

Spoiler

I think it's the texture of the longer hairstyles that looks the most discordant with the more realistic faces.  I'm hoping this has been improved.  I personally would have liked to see a little more variety, as the styles we do see for male PCs are pretty dominated by shaven variations.

lol you do realize there is more hairstyles then what they have been picking they just throw something and press play. Personally I like them because it shows that my individual CH will be different them most or at least I will try. I personally like having a high and tight haircut or something similar or maybe the sides short but hair still there and long on the top its what I had in the navy military haircuts the way to go lol.

Some of those don't look half bad. The textures are an entirely different story though.

From what we know so far, we can apparently shave his facial hair but that's not the point.

The point I am making is the Red Engine renders and handles hair much better than Frostbite which might mean the Frostbite is not suited to high quality hairstyles.
