lmao we got weird mid length hair that looks like a bad wigmaker made them, and an abundance of shaved/buzzed haircuts good job bioware you certainly nailed that department. Why did you not keep the hair from DA2 and Origins... sign. RIP semi good hair.

I would totally buy a dlc for hair i have no shame

The answer is yes.

She's one of the three main characters, goes almost everywhere with your squad and you see her in several civilian and military outfits with free hair, a long ponytail and some kind of upsweep.

Yeah but can she be ROMANCED?  This is important to know.

Bioware was trying to be all artsy with this one, so...

Most of the art is either amazing or cringeworthy. That's just how this game went, it seems.

Bioware does seem to not put much effort into the female hairstyles especially, not only those but a lot of male ones too are lackluster. There is like two or three medium length female styles? Yet no long hair and most hairstyles are variations of bald, balding or buzzcuts. Hopefully modders will fix Bioware's lack of effort and/or variety in this area of the game. They also still have the awful DA2 style Mr Potato Head level of quality for the most part, plastic looking and lacking in quality.

This also is the case for beards and mustaches again, you also have to fit faces to beards to avoid gaps between them and your face it seems which is the wrong way around...I gave an example of this before here. The face design itself suffers from same lighting problems as DA2 but it is possible to make decent faces as long as prepared to have potentially awful hair or nothing more than clean cut or stubble for the most part on the face of male ones.

I have seen hardly any decent male ones with beards/mustaches and only a couple decent female ones by people because of the bad hair choices offered and design/style. A lot of peoples characters seem to be copies of each others because there is so few decent looking options with hair and facial hair in the CC.

BioWare has always sucked at selectable hair. I had hoped this would be the game in which that hurdle was cleared, but nope. Maybe next time? :/

I think DA2 actually had the least horrific hair of any of their games in which you could choose your hairstyle.

Both hairstyles and the leisure suit have a "maybe we can economize and reuse these in Mass Effect: Next if we don't make them too 'fantasy' " look to them. None of them really seemed to fit my elf's head all that well, either. And the ear clippiing was horrendous on one that I otherwise might have used.

I actually like some of the shaved hairstyles but I dislike the fact there are so many and so few longer options and so very few ponytail or braid options.

Haha maybe it is called as 'male in female' hairstyle, seriously its really awful hairstyle, and i guess animation makers need to taught some hairstyle courses or should google or goto some hairstyle sites like http://hairstylesformediumhair.com/ or should ask some experts before making such funny animations :D

I've no problem with them including hairstyles I would never use. It's the absence of styles that I find more appealing that disappoints, as well as the unfortunate juxtaposition of cartoonish hair with more realistic facial textures. Heads and hair just don't seem to go together.

For the same reason that the women in all of their games aren't allowed to have long hair; because Bioware sucks at making hair.

Terrible unisex hair is terrible; more so on the female characters.  Half of the cuts on a female look like a throwback to the 80s.  One of the hairs after going through the bald to semi bald options is a straight up fem-mullet.

I think I would have handled the hair styles better if we could change them now and then, like in DA2.

I am however more troubled by the walk and stance of the women, especially outside battle.

Except for 1 or 2 the hairstyles are flat out repulsive on women.  and that is a big disappointment in customizing characters since I am locked in to 2 hairstyles.  I honestly expected better.  In the end a minor complaint as I adore the game but since I adore character customization and giving each new character a unique look a very annoying one for me.  I seriously hope the modders find a way to get some new hairs into the game the designs I have seen have been remarkable and if they can get them into the game triumph over the buzzcut practical jokes that are vanilla to the game.

At least the hands are better this time around, even if my dudes all have nail polish.

I loved the character creator in Inquisition, it's one of the best and most customizable I've used.

Given that, it's hard to do any complaining, but the hairstyles are pretty bad. Both in terms of what we get as well as the simple lack of options. I mean, you get the exact same limited hairstyles for both men and women, you only get a grand total of 4 hair options (Including baldness!) for the Qunari, and beards do this awful thing where they don't conform to your face, they just kind of... float an inch or two away from your cheek XD

Again, apart from the hair options, it's a phenomenal character creator. But I do sincerely hope we get more and better hair options patched in latter.

Bioware always had problem with hair/animation and stick arms. They even keep using the same old animation ( I played so much Origin. Trust me on that). Just like they still can't figure how to make kiss .. kiss.

They really need to hire some people that can actually work this out because by sake orange juice. We're in 2014. THey need to really think about starting to use motion capture and I will repeat it until they use it.

Bioware has made a very concerted effort to be supposedly "all inclusive" to "orientations" and sexual preferences. This is the reason these hair-styles, imo, look the way they do and are useable by BOTH genders in the game. Of course, a so-called man's man(as far as I am aware) wouldn't be caught dead wearing a lot of these hair-styles and I would wager a lot of the women playing this game would feel the same concerning a good portion of them as well.

You wouldn't want to offend those who identify with being LGBT or any of the variations associated with it, would you? Far be it from them to deliberately put traditionally straight male or female hair-styles.

If they truly didn't want this to be the case then I would probably guess they intend to eventually come out with DLC hair-styles. Otherwise, that masculine facial structure is doomed to be overshadowed by the feminine hair braided buns.

Hah

Man's men are not supposed to play Bioware games. These games are strictly for metrosexuals and feminists.

I was telling my friend this earlier. It's kind of insulting that Bioware can get clothes to move, trees to move, and water to move in the game. But they still haven't yet figured out how hair moves. WTF.

Hair selection was extremely poor. Just about managed to find something acceptable for my first 2 characters, that's about all i could say positive regarding it.

I wouldn't have liked it if they would've gone over-the-top with hairstyles. Some of the hairstyle mods still make me cringe to this day because they're too.... impractical for my tastes.

Still, what they have now is really bland and boring. Guild Wars 2 has some of my more favourite practical yet interesting looking hairstyles. Would've liked something like this:
