does anyone mind showing what the female human hair styles look like or do they look exactly like the male hairstyles?
Same as male. All hair styles are the same across races and genders, besides the qunari.

Since this is a topic on hair...has anyone noticed how suspiciously similar that half up do looks like Anders' hair...? XD lol
Or you know you could just get over it and move on.
Since this is the internet and intent is hard to get across, let me preface this by making it clear, the following is all me in good spirits

I'm not gonna let up asking for long hair in my Bioware games(or actually, games in general). I've been here asking for it for the better part of a decade and so have many others, respectfully, courteously, and I don't believe that'll change. No one's gonna say, "away with short hair". We're just asking for the inclusion of hair like our own.
One day, Bioware might care enough that people have been asking for it for ages, and clipping be damned, they might just do it(though a lack of clipping would be preferred).
People want to play characters they can relate to, whether that comes from gender, skin tone, the type of choices a character can make, etc etc.
Hair is one of those things some people hold dear and its one of those things that help players relate to the characters they play. Instead of suggesting people "get over it and move on", what we need are more people open to ideas like this that can absolutely be done, as it doesn't take anything away, but instead adds more opportunities for players to be comfortable with their characters. ![]()
We're not asking for Rapunzel(at least I'm not,
). But this reliance on short hair is getting really silly now.
I dont care, i am bald.
I'm sure some people like them and will use them. Variety is good. You didn't mention anything that would tend to indicate that the hairstyle selection is limited to these, so I don't really see how something that other people might like is a bad thing. If I find the hairstyles to be lacking or too narrow, I'll visit the issue then (when I actually have access to what is available.)
First, threads like these are a bit silly, as the assertion is entirely subjective. Secondly, rendering and animating believable, long hair is incredibly tedious and not worth the effort due to less-than-ideal results. Simulating cloth on gear is one thing. Consider trying to simulate every single strand of hair, especially for an engine that was built for shooters and BioWare just happens to be using it. Third, Orlais is supposedly at the height of fashion in all of Thedas. Of course their idea of art and beauty won't be anything traditional as they are trendsetters and will make something that seems unusual or strange and make it become the new fad or norm. BioWare is supplying more than enough options. Don't like what you see? It won't really matter anyways as you will likely be hidden in full plate armor a majority of the game. This isn't the Sims. This is Dragon Age and it's the story, characters, and choices that we make that ultimately matter more than anything else.
I'll be annoyed if there aren't any decent long hair options.

Hey, it's cool that you want your long hair options. In fact, I think its about time that Bioware tried to impleent them in their games. But for me personally, its like this;
If do put in the hair options then "cool". If not, then "whatever". It's just that I really care either way and have trouble understanding why most people do.
But that's a problem that I have with a lot of things on BSN along with healing, attributes and Mage vs Templars debates.
I'll be annoyed if there aren't any decent long hair options.
*snip hair swish gif*
If I made my own gifs, I'd mimic that right now. ![]()
I think they can decide what is the hair style in the world they invented. Period.
And in any case, that hair style, while quite terrible for you, is ALL OVER THE PLACE THIS YEAR. ![]()
Wow. In the hairstyle images [shown above], there are eight cropped short cuts for male elves depicted, each only with subtle differences. Too many of those eight are similar enough to have been minimized in favor of truer variety.
The stubble differences probably exist because they were easy to do, and eliminating them probably wouldn't free up enough resources to have even one more hairstyle

Rendering and animating hair is purely a technological limitation. The reason it isn't done is generally hardware isn't good enough to actually create believable, long hair. This isn't just a matter of clipping. Hair has been historically bad in video games forever, and it's because of how complex and difficult creating hair actually is. So believe me when I say this that BioWare isn't ignoring you. It's a simple fact that they cannot honor your request. I've been wanting games to have realistic physics, complete environment destructibility, interactivity with every object in games, etc. for more years than I can count. Just because I may want it doesn't necessarily mean it's going to happen anytime soon.
We also have to consider priorities, the fact these games are on schedules, and have limited staff and resources. There are just some things they will not be able to do as they will not be as crucial as others. Major goals for BioWare with DAI? Mounts. The ability to jump. More open world environments. An option for tactical view or real time combat. In-depth crafting with plenty of variety in choices in gear. The character creator itself is the most robust CC BioWare has ever built. Not that hair isn't important, but there were so many other issues that need to be addressed, and taking into consideration the complexities of developing hair, it's just not practical.
It will happen eventually. It's just not going to happen with DAI. Be happy with the improvements BioWare has made and continue to provide them with feedback of what you'd like to see them tackle in the future.
Don't, please don't reward companies for leaving out basic features and selling them as DLC.
That's what I was afraid of. It looks completely out of place. I guess from some people's viewpoint that makes it true art, but I do not share that viwepoint.
Edit:
As for being the latest Orlesian fashion, that's one I'd be hard-pressed to leave uncommented for politeness's sake.
@Milan:
The thing is, we aren't on Earth in 2014.

Oh, I'm with you on that. I imagine the reason it hasn't happened yet is because if they're gonna do it, they want to do it right.
Its just bloody frustrating that doing it right takes so long. If I'm 85 years old and Bioware finally decides to implement long hair, I'm probably going to have a heart attack out of frustration.
Interesting.. how many haircut styles can your character gets in shadow of mordor?
1, what's your point?
Mine is simple... it's is perfectly possible to animate long hair without tech problems, even while flipping all around and sword fighting so why should it be so hard to add so on somebody dancing?
Undercuts are fine. They're not to everyone's taste, but they're no more or less valid than anything else. It would be nice to have more traditional styles for people who prefer them, though.

Yeah, its possible sure, but that doesn't mean that Bioware had the engine or the resources to do it. The team at Edmonton without a doubt tried their best with what they had but had to make some cuts to parts of the game.
They don't have an unlimited staff or budget after all.

This has not been confirmed. We have only seen Male Human, Male Elf and Female Qunari's full range of hairstyles so far.
They seem ok too me. Although I would like more variation, even if they only have ponytails, braids and short hair.
They'r Canadian. What did you expect?

Well, if you'd like a positive spin on things, at least it's not this...enter at your own risk:
Spoiler
Shudder. The only problem I've really had (if you can call a completely aesthetic quibble a "problem") is the textures on the hairstyles, but in the most recent twitter stream and trailer that issue seemed to have improved.
I'd love the short/bob styles here for my fem inquisitors...
