I freaking REFUSE to believe that those are the total hairstyles we are given. I mean...wtf? it can't be.

I made sure to get this game on PC just for the fact that it may be possible to improve on the hair styles in the future. A damn good choice it seems.

While this would be nice, it would set a precedent of players directly deciding what goes into the game. I'm not sure BioWare wants this.

That's why I said a non-binding vote. I'm not suggesting a democratic method here. Bioware would introduce some of the art concepts they've come up with and we could vote on our favorites and offer feedback before they start working on the CC. Bioware would have the last say and their artistic integrity would stay intact.

With the popularity of crowdsourcing and social media, many companies are starting to involve their fans more into product development. That doesn't in any way mean that a company is relinquishing the decision making power to customers. It simply increases the interaction between the developers and their fans. Fans feel included, and developers have a better understanding what their fans wish. Devs don't have to pander to those needs, but at least they are making a conscious choice.

After DA2, Bioware asked us all sorts of feedback, but their methods weren't very organized. For example, official Bioware initiated polls on specific subjects (like hairstyles) with artwork to frame the questions would be a great improvement when developing future games and DLC.

Actually there's only one missing from the left. And considering the two hairstyles before the last one are all small afros I would assume the last one is similar.

On the right side there are some missing, but I don't think it's more than five in total.

That first one is most likely bald, as it has been on almost every character creator ever :P.

OK, there it's someone's Inquisitor, and all I can accuse them of is excessively bad taste,

Thanx alot for that one... <_<

I find the Inquist dancing in that picture gorgeous !

The small selection of hairstyles is quite a bummer and kinda cramps my RP for my main inquisitor, I mean I wasn't expecting a huge variety of long flowing perfect hair but some elegant yet functional buns/braids was something I thought would be a given.

For a game touting "infinite" customization this design decision/cut along with the single outfit for Skyhold seems to chafe when compared to the large quantity of mounts we're gonna get or drapes for our keep, some that probably many players aren't even ever going to see and use, as opposed to something a player has to choose in the beginning of the game and stick with for its entirety (unless they release a mirror of transformation thingy).

*prayer circle for hair mods*

Please please import Witcher 2 and a lot more ponytail hairstyles with braids/and or some bangs, please please. *prays*

To OP: I agree that the hair is lacking variety. I think the textures play a large part in it though. Especially the bears in darker hair colors. They look....really cut-and-paste. :S

A lot of the mounts and I'd wager most of the drapes are basic reskins of existing meshes, or meshes that exist in the world given new functionality. You cannot compare reskinning something to creating an entirely new hair mesh, which is notoriously resource-intensive, especially for an engine that doesn't "do" hair, the way FB3 doesn't do hair.

Seriously though, Who would choose to have that on their characters?

Just for that I'm going back to DA2 to make a Friar Hawke.

Well, I didn't really have a problem with the image in the first post. I appreciate a certain versatility in character creation. It's nice to know I'm not stricted to only a few choices in terms of aesthetics. I'm sure there are many people in the fanbase who want to exert their imagination and make something original. Maybe even blend styles from different periods.

It's a matter of personal preference, since no one is forced to play another person's character. We have the right to choose if we'll build our char according to the game's context or if we'll turn him into a cybernetic 23rd century blonde african gay ninja by installing trillions of mods. Just an example.

(Btw, I've even seen people turn their mabari into a giant spider.)

It's each person's experience, so we can't really have a say in that. I mean, we might criticize a friend who does that -wtf dude, why are you playing with a blonde african gay ninja and shooting darkspawn with a submachine gun-, but a total stranger?

The thing is, the less the char creation makes us feel pidgeonholed, the better. Are there people who enjoy doing crazy stuff to their chars -like dye their hair pink, make them wear gigantic high heels and go half naked, wearing nothing but a tiny sexy dress with lots of cleavage, to battle the Archdemon? Yep. So long as we have that CHOICE, I guess that's what matters in the end, no?

Regarding the 2 previous games:

Faithfulness to reality aside, most hairstyles in DA were cool for preserving just that. But regrettably appalling from an aesthetic point of view.

Sure, the characters must be in accordance to the context. After all, the franchise revolves around a fictional medieval magic land. But even in the Middle Ages, there must've been some nice haircuts. And surely Bioware can adapt the most unpleasant ones to something at least remotely nice. Isn't that what TV series do?

I bet my preordered copy of DA:I that 99% of the fanbase downloaded dozens of mods just to try and get some decent haircut for their GW and their Hawke. And if Inquisition still offers us haircuts like the one from Flemeth in Origins, well...time for a dragonageinquisitionnexus to come.

I understand that, but personally I'd prefer if they'd make one or two less unique mounts or beds/thrones/whatever and gave us one or two different hairstyles. It doesn't even need to be flowy hair, though maybe they could use the physics of the horses' tails for that (not sure if that's possible though).

When I played SWTOR I never felt compelled to buy a mount with CCs, but I did buy the additional hairstyles that came out. I guess the styling of the character pertains more to my RP than their possessions...

I love the hairstyles, hell, this is the best Bioware has done ever. I can now have a black character with a good cut, not some ugly ass buzzcut like in DAO or DA2.

The hairstyles are terrible, but I'm going to accept that I am clueless and that better ones cannot be made because of the engine, time or whatever. I accept it. But seriously, what's with the lack of normal typical hairstlyes that every other previous game had? Are those impossible to make as well?

The emo hairstlyle, the David Bowie hairstyle... I like them all so much I can't make a choice!

That's called use at your own discretion. I have that hairstyle in one of my characters and I simply use an armour that doesn't clip.
