A weird "mod-thing" with a fresh DAO install Windows 7-64 bit

Upgraded from Win 7-32 to Win 7-64...

I reinstalled DAO, Awakening etc.. and all the mods I use. When I load a save from before, even though all the mods are in the installed content and enabled, the launcher says I need to force load because the previous save needs all these mods.

If I start a new game, all content is included, so I know it is installed correctly.

Not a life threatening problem, I may just force the load and see what happens.. just thought this was very odd. ^_^

Added~ Reinstalled the toolset and restored a saved backup with all my data base content. All the content is in the database, but a lot of my files have a small red dot next to them instead of the normal green check (Is this from backing up the database with items not checked in)?. I'll just make copies of all these files if I can't figure this out.

I suppose it is still the same PC?
Yes, red dots mean that the resources are checked out to another user (i.e in this context probably to a former you). A variable in your installation environment must have changed. I guess you aren't identified as the same user. See http://social.biowar...ex.php/Check_in
If your Win-7 32 system should be still available - check all resources in and make a new backup. (fast lane)
I can come back to this and the first issue when I'll be back home.

Thank you Yara, Yes, Same PC... I did a format install of 7-64 bit, so no, I don't have my other files (I deleted the old windows files, too soon I guess). I'll see if I can fix the user to be the same (I think I changed something).

I'll look into this asap. Thank you :D

I don´t suppose that you have changed the name of the server instance. You didn´t create a new windows user profile with a different name, right?

As you have formatted your PC - my first guess would be that you could have changed the name of your PC.

I think that is it.. Used first and last instead of first only..  I think I can change it, then change the permissions again...

If you look at the Resource Property page for any of your "red dot" resources you'll see exactly who has them checked out. The format is <computer>\<user> so you'll probably have to ensure both match. But at least you know what you are aiming for.

Thank you.. I can't for the life of me remember what I had the computer named before.. It's like forgetting an old password.. sigh.. Thank you again.. now I know why you are supposed to check EVERYTHING IN before doing anything with the toolset. :o

Going to try and fix it now!!!!

It is named correctly PC/Nancy  ~What about workgroup, does that need to be the same also as before? I may uninstall the toolset and redo it.

Added.. i may be able to reconfigure the database...

Better than that you can hack the database (if you have MS SQL Server Management Studio installed). At least I was able to change the status to a red dot and back again.

I ended up reinstalling Windows.. Long story..... I'll have it all up and running by tomorrow. Thank you all so much for the help. I read that wiki and bookmarked it.

I'm having this exact same thing happening to me. It doesn't seem to be anything more than a recognition problem since if I go ahead and force load, all of my mods are installed with no problems. If I just do a quick save at that point then loading again doesn't give me the message about some mods being missing any longer. I just went through each one individually to make sure there were no problems, other than getting the force load pop-up message.

Now, after reinstalling everything, I am getting this when trying to restore the database to the one I saved before formatting my harddrive.

Left image is run as administrator..right image is just run.

^^ :)

I upgraded to Windows 7-64bit

Reinstalled all my programs and games

Reinstalled the toolset....

I want to restore the toolset database with the backup I saved before upgrading my OS

It has all my files and modules in it.

I cannot get my PC to let me restore it. :/ Access denied... or no paths to restore... And I searched the entire PC for config.ini and it is correctly worded

I am still looking up solutions... I even reinstalled the toolset again. The toolset is working perfectly. BUT, I cannot backup or restore (access denied).

Seems the admin permission for the "SQL server surface area config" is not saving my addition setting. I'll see if there are other settings regarding the toolset that can be changed.

When searching for a solution to my problem, I landed on microsoft.com.... They give a chance to send feedback if the articles helped or not. i just added it would be NICE to have a setting for adults to use their computer as they like. and not have to have permission to create a folder or copy some files etc... It would be different if you were trying to alter system files on windows... ;)
