FemHawke that fell for Anders as he reminded her so much of her father and agreed a lot about the cause though she ultimately, though reluctantly, killed him for many reasons.

It was always a toss up between Anders and Fenris.

 

Anders would originally steal my Hawke's heart, especially when he would show off the Anders that I fell in love with in DAA. The sarcastic, charming and deep down hopeless romantic. But as the game goes on, his beating of the "freedom to all mages" dead horse and depression (that would eventually lead into homocidal tendancies) would eventually kill any kind romantic feelings I had to be replaced with the urge to punch him in the mouth.

 

Fenris had a darker outlook on life that for some reason always appealed to me. His smoky, broody nature with his voice was enough to make me melt. Over time he shows his romantic and softer side. His personality was always a nice fit with my humorous Hawkes

 

In the end, I think Fenris wins out.

I picked Merrill for my warrior file,and Isa for my mage file. The one I wanted the most  who is my favorite companion   wasn't an option for the right reasons so I can't blame them for not putting it in.  I hope she doesn't die in DA:I.

My Hawke loves his family. He was close with his father and Bethany, all three being mages and all. He loved Carver and his mother too of course, though he wasn't very close with them, and after what happened to his little sister, his relationship with Leandra got a little worse.

 

As for romantic relationship... Fenris. I liked the idea of someone with the view towards mages and magic like Fenris' falling for a mage, and they do make a nice couple. Sexy voice doesn't hurt either.

Well, Fenris all the way. It's funny how I like to pair Fenris with my mage. My warrior had nearly got Merrill but at the last minute change of heart, it's still Fenris. I tried to romance Anders at first but can't stand him right after second conversation at act 1. And Isabela's just too... piraty for my Hawke. She's fun to be with, and everyone said that she's actually very mature in relationship. But well, maybe for next time.

Absolutely Anders. 

I began with DA2, because people in my area claimed DAO was awful. 
I do believe it was love at first sight. His inner pain was more of a call for
someone who understood him. If only we had the choice to stop him from making
his decision. 

When I went back and played DAO/A, It was even more true. HIs younger,
more life-like self is perfection. Seeing how his character changed through the years
only made me wish we could romance him sooner!

Areila Hawke fell hard for Fernis, and is alive but also leading the mage rebels as a general for Fiona. Thought kept Anders alive too let him clean up the mess he has made.

Sernia Hawke fell hard for Anders and let him live because she was somewhat a physcopath herself and hated Elthina, because she hated people that sat on their ass waiting for the Maker to do stuff for them. She even told her off by saying it was the Hero of Felderan that stopped the blight, and had told her since my Amell was the hero this time around that if the Maker chose a mage to stop the blight then, what does that tell you about your beliefs that locking up mages, is the right thing too do.

Auroa Hawke, my somewhat aggressive hawke fell in love with Fenris too the horror of her mother but was caught and killed by the Red Templars at the end of act three. Though, Fenris later tracks the ones who had taken her life and rips their hearts out promptly after he finds them. So she won't make it into DAI.

Andrew Hawke my agressive with scarsatic Hawke fell in love with Isabella and ran off with her on her new boat though later returns too help the mage rebellion with Fiona. He sees Merill as a Lilttle sister that he would protect with his life and would have Fenris rip out the hearts of anyone that would touch or harm her.

Even though my canon Hawke ended up with Isabela the character I was closest to "loving" was Merrill, but it just felt weird for my Hawke to romance her.

 

Seeing comments about Anders reminds me of the expression that "there's someone for everyone." When I first learned Anders was romanceable my knee-jerk reaction was "Are you kidding?! Who would want to romance that whiny abomination?" Even though he's interesting he's also the one character none of my Hawkes ever romanced, or even flirted with.

Merrill is just adorable. Perhaps too adorable. I love her like I love a puppy. I have romanced her before, but like you said... it's weird.

Varric.  He has a great sense of humor, knows a thing or two about business, very loyal.  Everything points to him being the best friend one could have and considering the amount of trouble Hawke finds not once does he abandon you.  Fenris does (though offscreen) as does Isabella.  His influence is strong enough for me to consider getting the next DA game even though everything else about it puts me off in one way or another.  While probably not love it is certainly a deep like.

For my Hawke, Bethany is the top of the list without exception, and she would do horrible horrible things to anyone or everyone to ensure her safety. Saving that, it would be Aveline. Hawke ends up with Isabela, but Aveline is the one that got away.

 I can love Aveline but it would not work out. I am too chaotic. As far as I've seen, "Rivalmances" do not work out IRL. I have not seen fit to do any, myself, in this game.
 
So my obligatory self-insert went for Isabela. The post-sex dialogue -- bringing up "love" after a one-night stand -- was a bit ... ridiculous, but it felt very rewarding when she finally did come around.
 
With my Female Hawke I headcanon she dated Anders during that timeskip and it didn't work out, but she still had feelings for him, which makes her one of the few Hawkes whom I can justify keeping him around -- she cared and was trying to help. During the actual game she went for Fenris. I found that one satisfying in a "cougar's den" kind of a way -- LOL! As a rogue she definitely had this sexy huntress thing going on.
