Isabella every time. Merril isn't bad to look at but she's about as bright as a dim bulb with all that dabbling in blood magic. Only thing I dislike is that they pretty much separate Hawke from your LI in Inquisition    I thought that was stupid since Isabella pretty much tells Hawke that she didn't want to lose him or w.e before that final battle and Varric tells you she goes off with him in the end. I don't think Bio's ever had a female companion with a chest as big as hers though 0.o. Guess she's like DA's version of Miranda except in the front lol

Honestly, not a big fan of any of the romance options. As a straight guy, I get Isabela, who is sexy, fun, and dynamic. Or, I get Merrill, who is shy, loyal, and compassionate.

 

However, Isabela is too promiscuous, an irritant, and threatens to leave you multiple times. And Merrill is basically an obsessed cultist who refuses to listen to reason.

 

I've felt dirty the last playthrough and a half because I've had a huge crush on Bethany...

I'm going to go out on a limb and say a lot of people feel the same way.  Merrill is one of those love/hate characters (I fall in the love camp myself).  You don't get a lot of middle ground with opinions of her.

 

Anyway, no hate here. I find her pretty adorable too.

so I doubt we will see her in any meaningful way in the future.  She is definitely my favorite of the two Hawke siblings.

Funny you should mention that, since I have a multi-Warden fanfic that I'm typing up and I plan to have my human-hating Tabris (who's in it) hook up with said Inquisitor (I actually meant my 5th Inquisitor, which would only be my 3rd Lavellan) in the DA:I sequel.  Granted, I'm thinking way too far ahead atm.  Currently at pre-Zevran Brecilian Forest with the actual fanfic (haven't gotten further than Lothering plot-wise yet.

 

As for Bethany, I have an SI fanfic I'm working on as well and I plan on having the pairing be my OC and Bethany, but that's for the DA2 sequel, since, like my multi-Warden fanfic, I'm starting in DA:O.  Will be while before any of them are done, but I'll keep working on them.  

 

EDIT:  As for Bethany's involvement later on in DA, I find it interesting that there are 2 different choice selection sections for Bethany's fate instead of just the one that everyone else gets in the Keep.  Makes me wonder whether or not she may actually have a role later on in the series.

Honestly, I don't really love anyone from DA2. They all have compelling and interesting stories, and my Hawkes romance Isabella and Merrill just for the story, but there's no one I really connected with... other than maybe Aveline and Bethany. I thought they were both really grounded and likeable.

My female mage!Hawke wanted to go for Anders at first, but his pre-recruitment quest put an end to that.  She can sympathize with his views as long as he's Anders, but the whole Anders-as-Justice thing squicks her out.  She's going to try her best to keep it strictly professional/friendly from now on.

 

Fenris on the other hand... as much as I dislike human/elf romances in the DA-verse due to the power imbalance thing... I as a player have a hard time resisting sexy male elves with dark pasts.  

 

(Belated edit) And yes, I know I complained in another thread about the elf revamp.  Fenris just happens to be one of the few characters it looks good on.

Fenris and Anders. Anders is a very tragic figure who can't escape neither his fate nor his trip down the lane of madness and depression, especially considering what his character was in Awakening, apparently (haven't played Awakening personally, but I'll take other people's word for it). Fenris, on the other hand, is a character who suffered through a lot, and you personally have the potential to help him move on (either as a Rival or a Friend) or allow his hatred lead him to his demise (if he allies with Meredith and you have to kill him).

And the fact that Fenris has one hell of a sexy voice is an added bonus. :-p

I prefer Fenris over Anders. I'm a sucker for the broody types and also he was voiced by Gideon Emery!!

 

If my Hawke could romance Varric or Aveline, I'd pick them over anyone else.
