Blade Tempest=Ninja. It's kinda hard to cast spells with a couple knives in your back.....
Mage walks into a dark forest.
Mage drops down dead.
Tempest walks out of a dark forest. With a stylish new cape.

Also from the sounds of it. In several of the settings Friendly fire can be toggled on and off from that twitch feed a few days ago.

as a mage:
freeze you with cone of cold, now none of your attacks work and you completely immobilised. preventing you from laying trap in the first place.
cast crushing prison
you die.
I shrug and loot your corpse.
thanks for playing.
I think we can agree that there are pros and cons to both classes.
And as for which to play, it comes down to your play style and what role you want your Inquisitor to have in the party make-up.

Sure I can, make a big kaboom, and whatever was there will be there no more, wherever that was.
Also if we go by the lore, rogues don't really have a personal cloaking device and are not literally invisible.

No, but they do know about camouflage and stealth, and a mage will die, just like any other person, from an arrow/dagger through their heart.
I'm gonna be a mage who has the rift mage powers!! it seems really cool!! Knight Enchanter is also pretty cool as well

No, any person doesn't have a barrier around them that blocks attacks.

Neither would a mage constantly have them up either. Nor are they 100% projectile proof. Nor does ALL mages know that spell. The list pretty much goes on.
Claiming rogues by default are better in stealth and camouflage is false. I DARE you to enter a forest with Dalish or Chasind mages hiding inside. Also Flemeth and kocari wilds.
If you are talking about gameplay, there is a reason classes are different in PVP because mages can simply perma-crowd control you from miles away and destroy you therefore there has been a balance in pvp as there should be. Wouldn't want warriors and rogues to cry on forums.
If the Dalish were that good at hiding their mages, they wouldn't have to constantly be on the run. And there is nothing that indicates that the Korcari Shamans has any stealthy skills.

A mage can up the barrier as soon as they feel they are in danger. Barrier is 100% proof of everything, as long as it is not broken.
I can also play your game and go: Not all rogues are good at shooting and they miss, not all can camo properly, not all are fast enough etc.

Surely the Dalish cannot handle an army of Templars lmao so they move, but no single or small group of rogues would enter a forest knowing there are Dalish mages in hiding. The Chasind don't run and they have mages among them, I'm not seeing anyone daring to enter the wilds to kill them. They bloody live in the most forbidding forest of Thedas, I think they are perfectly capable of stealth. The point at any event is anyone can have the advantage of camouflage and its simply a strategy and not a factor of power.

I'll probably make my first Inquisitor an Archer if it feels right!
I played DA2 a few times as an Archer and really enjoyed it, but even now I can't force myself to play an Archer in Origins. the animation looks off and it just feels boring.
I suppose what I mean is, if I'm just going to be plinking arrows at enemies, I either want quite a few damaging active abilities, and a bow firing animation that doesn't look odd to me!

And you would be correct. Odd how some are simply better than others at different things. And even your beloved mages, can fall. Mages, quite simply are NOT superior in every way.

Uhm... VILLAGERS often chase away Dalish Clans... That should give you some insight to the "awesome" capabilities of the average Dalish clan...
And no one goes after the Chasind because why would they? The Chasind sits in a useless swamp and doesn't bother anyone. However when they do try to raid outside the Korcari Wilds, they are usually handedly beaten into submission, and retreat to their swamp.
And I say again: There is nothing that indicates that neither the Dalish Keepers/Firsts nor the Chasind Shamans are particularly skillful at stealth.

Villagers are forced move as well, it works both ways. Even if they managed to do that its the army argument not a rogue versus mage argument. I don't even care about the Dalish or Chasind in this scenario, anyone can use camouflage.

Men play as archers.

But mages are superior. It takes a lot less effort for a mage to match an average mundane battle efficiency, and with a lot of effort put in, a mage will always be better, than any mundane that put equal time into combat training.

Incorrect. It all depends on the natural ability and trainning of the mage. Some mages can BARELY lighta candle with their magic, let alone cast a fireball. So no, your "superior race" idea is gonna have to wait for another franchise.
and with a lot of effort put in, a mage will always be better, than any mundane that put equal time into combat training.
Incorrect again.
Dalish move for lots of reasons... Local Militia, Food supply dwindling, Unrest in the local area, Occassionally Templars but it doesn't sound like they are usually a problem, diseases, and because they simply decide they don't like the area after a certain point.
