Awful how? I'm currently on Chapter 4. I think.

'

It puts you in a position where the enemy has a giant tank with powerful cannons and machine guns that can kill all your units in one hit. All your units are exposed and are vulnerable to being surrounded. It attempts to be a difficult boss by just being cheap and unfair.

Well, I can be cheap and unfair too.

It's simply a matter of bringing the right troops and positioning them correctly - You'll need a few Lancers to take out its turrets, use the tank as well for this, some of it's radiators, which will be exposed when it uses it's main gun to clear out debris. Bring a few Shocktroopers plus som scouts to watch out for your last base and reinforcement arriving.

Chapter 7 is such a ****** though. Hardest one in the game IMO. FWIW, I rage quit it. Gonna have to try again tomorrow. My full health tank got one hit by a Lancer. I could taste the ragnite of that last radiator. I already weakened it with Lancer volleys while I grenade'd the others.

Like how does that even happen. He either got the luckiest of shots on my back battery or the game just wanted me to eat dirt.

Hm, that's strange my tank never died to the lancers. I think maybe I had a sniper make sure to kill the enemy lancers each turn but I think it was more just always leaving the tank facing the enemy each turn..

Anyway honestly that was one of my favorite missions, a lot of stuff going on at the same time.

The only cheap part I thought was Selvaria being god but since she doesn't actively assault the base or whatever I figured it was basically ok.

Was excited to play this game but I keep getting APPCRASH everytime I launch, which is strange since all the other games in my library works just fine.

Anyone else have the problem?

Have you tried verifying the integrity of the game cache? I had a problem where the game wouldn't go beyond the initial loading screen because something went wrong with the install and that fixed it.

Don't think so, where do you exactly do that?

Sorry, not that good with technical stuff.

EDIT: Nevermind, found it. Gonna try and see if it works.

EDIT 2: Nope, didn't work. Bugger...

Personally, I think it's worth full price but I commend your patience and self-control.

Steam has been a blessing and a curse: I have so many games to play that I can afford to wait until they drop to low prices.

But 20 GB is too much to download.

It's worth $70 and 50 gb of downloading IMO.

Valkyria Chronicles has once again made it to the Top Sellers list on Steam, currently at #7, due to a 50% discount available for the next 40 hours. It's as good a time to get it as any and well worth it.

For my PC, it is sadly a challenge.

Not even filling it with pudding has fixed the problem.

I just got the game on steam - it was on sale enough that I figured it was worth it. Anything I should know before leaping in?

Familiar with XCOM? You'll be familiar with the mechanics. Remember to do Skirmishes ( basically the equivalent of grinding in this game) a lot as you'll need XP and money for training your troops and upgrading your tanks, weapons etc. Always pick a line-up in accordance with what you're being told by the mission briefing, if it suggests that you bring Lancers along, do it. In terms of line-up, I'm sure you'll figure it out yourself.

@In Exile: Well, in that case, every soldier has its own traits. For instance, some may be afraid of the desert and take a penalty, or be at ease in a city-environment and gain a bonus, some may hate working with people of a given ethnic origin, etc. Bear these in mind when you put together your squad.

I wouldn't worry too much about shortcomings. The most important part is how you position your troops and thus their shortcomings won't be much of a bother, especially when their potentials awaken (either through using them a lot in battle or training them).

Good troops: Jane (Trooper, Alex (Trooper) Vyse (Him and Alex work perfect together and they are also heavy hitters), Nils (Excellent Lancer), Jann (Great Tank Killer) etc

Catherine is good too, indeed.
