That's what she said.
Yeah that's about as helpful as I'm going to be

Coming from PS3 to PC for a spell, I tried to rebind the keyboard to something logical for my brain. YMMV
Stayed with the typical right mouse button for zoom and left mouse button for shoot. I rebound reload to mouse wheel scroll down and switching weapons with mouse wheel up.
Kept melee on F and the usual WASD for forward, strafing, and backward. I rebound powers to Q, E, and R in the direction of Q = left trigger/L2, E = triangle/whatever-the-f-that-is-on-XBox, and R = right trigger/R2. My brain was used to reading those powers left to right so I tried to read left to right on the keyboard close to W so it'd be easy finger range. I can't remember default setting, but I either kept or rebound consumables to 1-2-3-4 in clockwise order with rockets being 1, ops packs 2, medigel 3, and thermal clip 4.
You'll see advice to move medigel to a mouse button if at all possible to make reload-canceling easier.
To be honest, I never got comfortable trying to strafe left and right on keyboard. Not without having to stop to look and re-position my left hand (I keep my fingers on QWER to walk forward and use powers rather than side step/roll sideways), which is death. So, I stuck with my comfortable and tanky Turians because then I didn't have to worry about trying to dodge. LOL

First off, congrats on running with the pizza on the first try; I still haven't been able to with over 600 hours pc practice.
For keyboard bindings, I'm too lazy to alt bind so I just go with the default. Pinky for a and 1, ring for w, s, and 2, middle for d and 3 index covers f (all left hand; I've seen different typing styles) on the right hand index for 6 (sometimes left index it varies) and 7, middle for 8. right mouse key to zoom and left to fire works well. Gameplay wise, never played ME on console so I don't know about the transition.

The only key i've changed is medigel to middle mouse button to make reload cancelling simple.

Also, when are you thinking you'll be on PC timezone-wise? I wouldn't be against hopping back on again to try and help you out. Sad thing is I'm Silver-carry at best there. Gold is doable if there are PUGs for bait or other friends on my list to pull in. I am not on PC what I am on console and never will be. ![]()

Finding the keybinds is the least of your worries. Finding the right mouse set up is the key to success. Even I haven't found a comfortable mouse set up that pleases me, but it works fine for me.

Here's the key binding that worked for me. I ascended from PS3 as well. Do add me if you want to get some games together ^^
I use QEC for powers. I can not remember which buttons from PS3 correspond with QEC but I can tell you that when I use Asari Bubble Adept, Q is warp, C is throw and E is stasis. I have a gaming mouse so I use one of the side buttons for rocket and the other one for medi-gel (and reload cancelling). The scrolling wheel I use to change weapon. Then I use 6 for ops pack and 7 for ammo. I know this may require you moving your left hand away from the powers but it actually works well for me ![]()
It took me about a month to get used to playing on PC with the help of some of the PC folks I met. So thank you guys for that. ![]()
When running with pizza, my friend told me to try to look down so that you can stick to cover XD I had my fails (and rage) too ![]()
Good luck and maybe I'll see you on the battlefield! I will gladly play on your host if it's not too bad! ![]()

Ha, Panda's post reminded me that if you want some really dumb AI, you can play on my host. My potato laptop pulls about 25-28 FPS max when running a match. ![]()

mp was unplayable for me with the default keybinds
so i set mine up to better match how my hands are naturally on a keyboard.
(i do this for every game i play). also i never understood wasd so i use sdfc
and personally use evg for powers. if your mouse has some extra buttons they
can be real handy for keybinds.

You can swing your camera all the way around while running to make sharp turns on PC.
I bind my powers to my mouse wheel/buttons so I don't have to take any fingers off of my movement keys. I also keep them bound to the keyboard as well since sometimes they come in handy.
If you can manage to change your FOV from 70 to something reasonable like 90, do it. Requires editing a config file though.
Use can use medi-gel to reload cancel (consoles can't do this iirc)
We don't usually talk on mic because we use our telepathy to transmit information. You'll develop it too, in time.

What's working for me is using Q and E for powers 1 and 2 respectively.

I remember dodging Dragoons by just casually walking to the side on Grim's infamous host. My host was like that too I guess. Not sure about now though, just got new internet... could be better... or worse because the rest of the world still can't connect to Australia! XD

Welcome, and don’t worry about pc controls; I’m sure you’ll fit in with it no time.
IMO key rebinding and FOV increase on pc are musts, other tweaks are optional.
There's a LiveJournal article on how to rebind the omni-button to separate keys, I bind sprint to L-shift, use to E, and cover/vault to Spacebar.
For MP FOV there's a nice little program called Flawlesswidescreen, very easy to use, you can edit coalesed.bin to increase fov too, but it may mess up with singleplayer cutscene fov though.

Ok maybe don't play with me.

That was probably my buggiest match ever, turn left and you warp, turn right and you warp, hold space and you just randomly warp...

The only keybinding I changed was 7 to V for reload-cancelling, since that's where my thumb rests naturally when I'm playing. Actually no, 7 is still the "primary" key, but now V is the "secondary" key.
Maybe practice sniping? I almost never play console games, but the few times I've tried an FPS on console the aim controls seemed horrific compared to a mouse. Possibly that works both ways. Also, there's no auto-aim-assist when you zoom in.

Does anyone else use a gaming mouse? I have the 1, 2, and 3 keys bound to the extra buttons on my mouse, so I'm able to use the left hand on the keyboard to control movement, and the right hand on the mouse for weapons and powers...

PC wise, I always rebind WASD to ESDF or (in MMORPGS with 30+ keybinds) EXCV. It's more natural since that is where those fingers normally rest if you use proper typing

I use a Logitech G400. Two buttons on the thumb, assigned to Shift and Ctrl. All left hand keybinds have 3 different functions depending on thumb button modifier. Cheap, efficient, and I get to tell people to get on my level.
Get on my level.

How long have you been using PC? Do you play console in between?
I think muscle memory is fairly quick but I easily confuse keybindings between games, too.

I've used the same keybinds for a couple of decades, with my left hand on the home row. SD is left/right, FV is forward/back. Everything around those depends on what game I'm playing, but in the case of ME3, I've got 123 bound to QWE, R is reload, ZXC is ops/gels/packs. Mouse wheel switches weapons, mouse thumb buttons are melee and turbofire. Space is the omnibutton, Tab is scores, Alt is voice chat.
