Just got a new gift laptop, though I had told the person who got it not to get one for me expressly because I wanted to make sure DA:I would run it >.<

Anyway, here are the specs; tell me how well I can expect it to run DA:I ...

(Samsung)

-- 4 GB RAM

-- 60-odd GB free for SSD

-- AMD Raedon HD 8250

You still got the receipt for the notebook right?

Yes, still have it. That bad, huh?

Ah, well. So, moving on to my next issue, any recommendations for a replacement CPU?

Do I have to get a desktop for this game, or are there any laptops out there that can handle it? Having trouble finding one online.

Well I've been looking at laptops for gaming and other uses, because I'm off the grid and need to limit generator use, so I'm sure you can get a laptop for a thousand or more that can run DAI at moderate settings. In Canada I was looking at the MSI brand probably  the GP70 (I7-4700HQ, nVidia Geforce gt 840M, 8 Gb Ram) as a low limit, depending on how self-indulgent I feel. There are gaming laptops that you can cough up $2-4 thousand Can. for, but for something that might overheat or be out of date in a couple of years, that's too much money in my opinion.

There are most certainly laptops that can run the game. But they are significantly more expensive than the desktops with equivalent power.

If you are really set on a laptop for Inquisition, you can either get something with, say, an 850m or 860m graphics card if you don't mind lower performance. Or, if price is no object, go for a laptop with a 970m or 980m.
