I don't really have a specific order, but I always do Broken Circle first because the Fade part is always a huge pain. I like the attributes, but it's still a huge pain.
Which order do you usually do the quests?

Hm... I find the Arcivist's Sash to be incredibly useful, so I grab that as soon as possible... while I'm in Denerim, I always do some side quests as "training missions" for the Warden's fledgeling team before they attempt to enforce the Treaties. So, my preferred order is...
1. Denerim
2. Circle of Magi
3. Honnleath (Stone Prisoner DLC)
4. Brecilian Forest
5. Warden's Keep
6. Redcliffe
7. Haven (Urn of Sacred Ashes questline)
8. Orzammar
I generally do Return to Ostagaar right before or right after the Brecilian Forest, but that one could go either way... the only problem I always run into is the need to flat out ignore the rumors about Arl Eamon since those start showing up as early as Lothering... to avoid the problem of knowing that he's ill and then waiting weeks or even months to investigate, I just don't talk to the bartenders and pretend we never met Ser Donall in Lothering.

Agree. Archivist's Sash boosts your XP gain quite a bit, and the Back Alley Bandits quest is a lot easier before you hit level 12 (when enemy archers gain Scattershot).

My usual order is:
1. Broken Circle
2. Warden's Keep
3. Arl of Redcliffe/Urn of Sacred Ashes
4. Stone Prisoner
5. Paragon of Her Kind
6. Return to Ostagar
7. Nature of the Beast
I usually play mages, which makes Broken Circle a top priority. It also prevents backtracking if you want Irving's help with Connor in Redcliffe. I always leave Nature of the Beast for last since there's no companions associated with it and it's my least favorite story. I like to sprinkle the DLC quests in between the big ones for a change of pace.
Last time I played, I wanted Oghren as a main party member so I did Orzammar first. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS! The fights at the end of the Deep Roads are extremely difficult for a low-level party. Oghren does have some interesting dialogue at the Temple of Sacred Ashes, so if I were to do this again I would switch Orzammar and Redcliffe, doing Broken Circle first for the stats bonuses in the Fade.

Depends on the Origin and character I'm playing, but my usual order is:
Circle Tower (my main is a pro-Circle mage, heard the gossips talking in Lothering and refused to go anywhere else till he knew what had happened)
Redcliffe
Stone Prisoner
Nature of the Beast
Soldier's Peak
RtO
Orzammar
Sacred Ashes
The first storyline quest after Lothering always depends on which Origin I'm playing, though. Dalish it'd be Nature of the Beast, dwarf origins probably Orzammar, city elves either straight to Redcliffe or Nature of the Beast, and HNs of course would go straight to Redcliffe.

Always try to do them in the ideal order to avoid anything being over or under leveled, which thankfully also works as the most logical order for my main character, so...
1. Redcliffe
2. Circle Tower
3. Urn of Sacred Ashes
4. Nature of the Beast
5. Orzammar
6. Denerim quests and all the rest
The logic basically goes, "Hey, we should have someone powerful on our side, let's go see Eamon... woops, he be near corpse status, welp, let's go find dis Genitivi fellow but maybe we should stop by the Mage's Circle on the way to ask for their help... oh fuuu, whole place has gone to ****, damn, can't leave em like dis... alright, back to that Genitivi and magical ashes bsns... k, done dealing with dragon blood suckers, let's go recruit some elves... oh cute, they need help too... alright, done trolling Cammen, let's go to the small and bearded people village, maybe I can actually just relax th... nope, gotta do **** for em too"
I don't bother with Return to Ostagar anymore, Cailan can rot. Stone Prisoner and Warden's keep get done when passing nearby said areas during the main travels.
Same order, same logic ![]()

Post-Lothering order:
Denerim, to start the board quests, Collective, other pre-Alienage stuff, and unlock Haven.
Warden's Keep (I love collecting the unique items, so I need the chest ASAP, and Starfang ftw).
Redcliffe.
Circle Tower.
Urn of Sacred Ashes (I feareth thou not thy foul winged beast!).
Stone Prisoner.
Dalish.
Orzammar.
Landsmeet.
Return to Ostagar (why so late, you ask? So I can take you-know-who in place of Alistair).
End-Game.

I always pick quests that net me a new companion first and foremost. I kind of have the completionist attitude most of the time.
When I'm in an area, I stick to that until I can finish everything that is possible without having to move to another location.
This is how I go:
Honnleath - Get Shale
Orzammar - Get Oghren
--> Zevran cutscene (1st Trip)
Circle Tower - Get Wynne
--> Get Zevran (2nd Trip)
Brecilian Forest
Redcliffe
Denerim
If I'm playing as a mage, I always start on the Circle Tower, otherwise I go to Orzammar.

Yeah that's kind of what I do as well now I find Orzammar a right pain in the ass if you take it on too early so I try to leave that as late as possible now because that's what I did in my last playthrough and I finally beat it. First time I'd mastered not just Orzammar but the whole game as a whole as well which is something I hadn't done before so was pretty proud of myself . I don't really have a set order for side missions/dlc to be honest but on my last run I did as many as I cou8ld before heading for Orzammar.

I notice a lot of people tend to do the Broken Circle quite early on, I tend to do it second to last (after all other DLC quests, and before Orzammar - I find that quest a little tedious!)

My guess would be that people ( Me included. ) do the broken circle early so that we have Wynne and the extra attribute points from the Fade. ( Does not matter if some one plays through the Fade or uses the mod Skip the Fade. )

I do Leliana's Song first off, as the time line precedes the events of the main game, then I create my Warden.
After a lot of experimentation I've cemented my 'optimal' way of doing DA:O, I'll include the reason for all my choices, but be aware that there may be spoilers. Many of my reasons are based upon the gear I can get from a particular area, though I generally invent headcanon plot justifications for going there.
1) Origin Story
2) Ostagar/Korcari Wilds
Not much choice here, as they are all mandatory.
3) Warden's Keep - I want to get the storage chest ASAP, plus the Warden Commander's Armor, the staff and the crossbow. Story-wise it makes sense to consolidate a strong base from which to plan your operation.
4) Return to Ostagar - The King needs to be put to rest, and the royal sword and armor pressed into service for the good of the Wardens, it's what Cailan would have wanted. Also my Warden is still smarting over the defeat at Ostagar, here's the chance to get some closure.
5) Stone Prisoner - I was in the neighbourhood, may as well check out this merchant and his offer while I'm at it. (plus some more nice early gear for my fledgling party).
6) Circle Tower - Metagame-wise I want to save all of the Arl's household using the Lyrium method, so clearly it's good to do this first, also it's the easiest of the main quest zones, give me access to Wynn nice and early, who I need for healing during the Redcliff Village fight and Flemmeth, and a shefload of stat points from the fade section. Story-wise, my Warden has recently been exposed to Morrigan and her mother, and has magic on his mind quite a lot, and is aware of it's benefits iin the coming fight - getting Mage support early seems a wise course of action.
7) Redcliff - I now how the tools and people I need to prevail in the Village defence event. Story - Redcliff is close to Lake Calenhad, so it's a natural next step.
8) Denerim - I'm sent here anyway to discover more about the urn. I take this opportunity to do all the side-quests I can within this area, and pick up a load more. Also my party is now strong enough, and has the tools it needs to do the Blood Mage base quest without being stomped.
9) Earn of Sacred Ashes - Natural follow-on from visiting Genetivi's home, plus access to those all-important drake and dragon scales.
10) Brecilian Forest) - Warden simply chooses to deal with the Dwarves last, no profound reason, it's just the way it happens - Plus I get the Juggernaut armor set for Alistair, which comes in handly later in the Deep Roads.
11) Orzammar - Final stop along the way. The Deep Roads are best explored at a relatively high level, with good gear. Plenty more nice upgrades to be found, including the Effort armor set for Sten, and the Legion set for Oghren. Now all my party are almost fully kitted out in their end game gear.
Awakening:
I don't have any massive story reasons for this order, it's just the one that seems most natural to me, plus it feels nicer to save Blackmarsh until last to finally get the crowning glory of the armor sets, the Sentinel armor as a kind of grand finale.
Wending Wood - I want to get access to Velenna ASAP, as she's my main tank as an Arcane Warrior/Battlemage.
Kal Hirol - Grab that HIrol's Defence set for Velenna.
Under Vigil's Keep.
Blackmarsh, for the awesome Armor of the Sentinel.
Golem's of Amgarak.
Witch Hunt.

soldier's peak first to handle my nearly-overflowing inventory by the time Lothering is over, circle for attributes, Redcliffe after and make sure to bring Zevran to help the village defense, sacred ashes, return to Ostagar since after 3 treaty quests is when other overpowered gear starts showing up too like Chasind Great Maul and Felon's Coat and Wade's dragon armor (so it's a good time to get the overpowered RtO gear too around that time), Dalish, dwarves.
Leliana's Song I fit whenever. I do it right before the ambush you get if Leliana is with you, so I'm fighting and killing Majorline barely 10 minutes after playing out their last meeting in the DLC. Really makes that story arc feel complete to go from Leliana's Song straight to the end of Leliana's side quest to confront her with the Warden, gives it some extra impact and closure.
Stone prisoner I do whenever too. I don't much care for the quest itself, so I only do it whenever I finally stop procrastinating it. As long as I have Shale by Anvil of the Void, that's good enough.

Which ever class I play this is my routine after Lothering :
Wardens keep DLC
Stone prisoner DLC
Broken circle
Arl of Redcliffe
Denerim all side quests that can be finished
Urn of sacred Ashes
Paragon of her kind and all side quests
Nature of the Beast
Landsmeet finish all side quests
Return to Ostagar DLC
The Final Onslaught
I tend to level up Armor and Weaponry using The magic Box between each main Quest .

It's been a while for me, but, iirc, I usually go:
1) Broken Circle: Attributes are always good and I'd rather deal with the Fade part quickly.
2) Stone Prisoner
3) Redcliffe
4) Brecilian Forest, Caravan and Refugees
5) Denerim to find Brother Genitivi
6) Battlefield and Dealing with Loghain's troops
7) Haven
8) Orzammar
9) Denerim
10) Every other quest that isn't tied to the Landsmeet
11) Landsmeet
And I always do the companion quests whenever they're brought up by the interested party.
