Well, it's not a new theory...

It's as possible as them not being the same being, or as possible as them not existing, or as possible as the dread wolf just being a demon and the Maker being Dumat.... or the dread wolf being flemeth and the Maker being Sandal...

I'm in favor of them not being connected, and depending on what character I play, believing one is true and the other an interpretation or personification of some aspects of reality.

If there was some connection, and they were all real, then the Maker is probably the Creator and the elf gods were the first of his children in the Fade... but that would be kind of lame and boring in my opinion...

It really is best to just leave it in the air, since it makes the game more fun/engaging.

I agree to the last statement 100% :)

it is a game and it's intended for fun. That is why I specificly name it a theory and don't go into it to deeply. Just wanted tot see what others think. I personally hope it isn't true and the game surprises me with something totally different

a good point there. It can go both ways I think.

But that is the very reason why I posted this. To see what people think about it, not to say what is or isn't true :)

after all its a game

the dalish have never intrigued me enough to delve deep into their lore. I've always loathed the humans are the real Monsters trope which is all i've seen from the dalish and city elves. perhaps their's more to them but it's a trope that i just can not stand.

I think being a fan of Tevinter should still spark some interest. Because Tevinter itself was interested in elven ways and tradition. There's still a lot of mystery surrounding Arlathan and Tevinter. And usually, when we see remnants of old Tevinter, it has some loose connection to the elves. The Falon'Din statues and Eluvian come up in both Dalish and Tevinter contexts. It's subtle, but it's always there.
