So very similar to the Flemeth question, although I feel this questions needs less of an introduction/explanation. In short Sandal is f***ing weird. My theories:

1. He is the Maker having a bit of fun.

2. He is some sort of trickster god.

3. (My personal favourite) He is the first dwarf to have a connection to the fade.

or

4.ENCHANTMENT!

There's no Dragon Age without Sandal.

Sandal is a half-dwarf adopted by Bodahn Fedick.

1. Almost positive he's not, since the Devs have said that they aren't going to put in anything that actually says whether or not the Maker is real.

2. That could be a possibility, but why take the form of a dwarf?

3. I think this is the most likely. Either he has some connection to the fade, or he was the first dwarf mage, but was somehow made tranquil.... but then he has emotions and such so I'm not sure... could be he's just lyrium addled.

As for him making an appearance in DAI, I believe that I read somewhere they weren't going to put him or Bohdan into the game, which sucks, cause it really wont be a DA game without Sandal and his powers of "Boom".

In some DLC there were talk of an half dwarf lost in the Deep Roads , some noble son or something.I think it was half elf/dwarf.

And I think those dialogues were not released .But you can find them on Youtube .

If Sandal is half dwarf , it's possible something went wrong ...since dwarves are cut from the fade , and other races are not.

He may be a bit magical but who knows maybe his dwarven heritage is keeping him from being a full mage .

if it was cut, then it's not really true... They may have been toying with the idea, but they decided not to put it in. -shrugs- at least that's my opinion on cut content and using it as fact.

1 presumably a Elf / Dwarf halfbreed.

2 Or silply a Lyrium form of a Thalomide child he is simply a savant at Enchantment seeing as he can not cast magic but can create awesom... well ENCHANTMENTS.

as for your 2nd question yep remember Bodahn said they were off to Orleys to see the queen.

I know for a fact that tricky little whatever is the first dwarven mage, with that whole not enchantment line Bioware is sending us through a loop. Cause you know they haven't introduced Half dwarves for the fact that it can be there way of adding dwarven mages.

Don't know? Still I'm afraid of him. In Origins, and 2 he's surrounded by lots of bodies which I assume he killed which makes the question of how he got there pointless.

Dialogue between Carta members in the Legacy DLC implies that Sandal may be the bastard son of an Aeducan, whose mother was either an elf or a human

sorry for the links, pasted from the wiki

Sandal is actually the personification of Bioware. "Enchantment" is the password they use to pass the lock they put for the console command. Or say he's the Maker, that works too.

Sandal doesn't seem like Tranquils, he did shows emotions (mostly getting excited). He's more like a simple one than a Tranquilled one. Possibly a combination of having magic/lyrium-drugged...

I like to think he was an exiled noble/warrior caste dwarf (no casteless brand) doomed to walk the deep roads(where Bodahn said he found him), and that while walking the deep roads he swallowed a little something, a little something made with lyrium, a little something made with lyrium containing something...or someone, a scary lady if you will, or a hag who talks too much.

Is it fate or simply chance?

I can never decide.

HAHAHAhahaha!

Cut content is about as useful as a silent witness. It may be a hint towards something BioWare was planning, but it hold as much gravitas as wet tissues.

I like the idea of Sandal having a connection with Flemeth, an unknowing piece in one of her many puzzles.

He is the Tom Bombadil of Dragon Age ... only there to confuse people and make them guess what he is supposed to be, even though there never was any deeper enigma behind it, he just is kinda there.

Because, as we learned the hard way from ME3, Bioware just loves:

So if dragon age was made a movie, Sandal would not be in it, and every fan (including me) would rage. I am still angry that Bombadil wasn´t in the movie. But I think you have got some interesting points and you may be right. He does seem very powerfull to.

Or you would be a fan like me and consider the Bombadil-scenes pretty much pointless and out-of-place for a movie, one of the many decisions Jackson did right (hey, even the pitiful animated-movie left him out... :) ) Though I would have really loved to see the whole barrow-wights and old willow-stories, but they don't work without Tom, and he is sadly annoying...

Well, yeah, maybe Sandahl has something about him. But I clearly doubt they'll ever use him as a major player in the plot or something like this. I think he works better as a mystery. Who would actually think Sandahl interesting if they confirm he is flemeth's old lover from that bard-story reborn or some stuff? Sometimes the best stories are the ones untold ... ahem...

Whatever, I think he will again be the only person able to put runes in stuff and things...I wonder more if anyone else in the world can do that...

At least they added that scene in the extended edition of The Two Towers in reference to the Old Willow.

But yeah, Tom Bombadil is sadly insignificant to the overall plot of The Lord of the Rings, and would require probably an hour of the movie dedicated to his plotline (barrows, willow yadda yadda yadda), which in turn would ALL be insignificant at the end of the movie. It was a wise decision to cut it.
