I'm with you, m8. The DAII giant spiders, sometimes I had to look away and plug my ears from the hissing to get through it.
And even then I was prone to slight panics if I walked close to the spider's dead body.
Games like these really need to be moddable for these reasons.

Phobias can almost always be unlearned, games really aren't a bad place to start the desensitization process.
It was really only the ones that were on the skin that bothered me...beehives and like the holes you see for like a wasp's nest don't do it. But the other ones of the holes on the skin? Ugh, man. It just made me feel itchy and just uneasy. I scrolled through a few pages before I just noped out.
Fighting spiders wouldn't be so bad if they didn't just suddenly descend from the ceiling, covering the whole screen (DA2 was terrible). Any confirmation of this happening? If so, DA3 is a no-go for me.

Ok here is my opinion on the subject you are playing an rpg game most rpg games WILL have spider enemies you should know this. Now if you have a phobia against spiders to the point where it effects you by even seeing them virtually.
Then I am afraid you need to sort that issue and get help. Considering they are using frostbite it will not be easy to mod out. The developers won't change something like this or patch it you should look for help to conquer the fear if its effecting you that much.
This is my opinion on the topic.

The phobia is not so much a phobia of virtual spiders - it's a phobia of spiders, and the virtual ones are so good they trigger the phobia.
How about I relieve you of that fear?

maybe it's just me but when I was groing up and had a bad dream my family told me to dream about a weapon and destroy it lol as far as a video game demolish it was a sword, Ib real life I spray them to death I am a horrible person I guess.
After 7 playthroughs of DA:O I think I can finally handle spiders in games. Although I'll still scream and run around flailing.
But jesus, the monstrous things crushing me in DA2 and not being able to zoom out was the worst.
I never got this extreme fear of spiders some people have. I mean. I'm terrified of heights, But I can still play games like Mirror's Egde and Assassins Creed.
That's why it's called a phobia. It's not rational.
I'm grossed and creeped out by regular house spiders, but as for giant spiders in video games, I only have an issue with them if they are literally in your face (hence why I modded them out of Skyrim) or when they drop out of the air with a loud hiss and the battle auto-pause gets you a temporary facefull of the above!
Bottom line: so long as they aren't the "drop from the sky" variety of spiders, I should be fine.
As long as I can zoom out and scream, I can handle it. I've battled every spider I've come across in DA, no matter how awful I felt afterwards.
But I literally didn't do quests in DA 2 where I thought the monster spiders would be because they were too gigantic to zoom out from. I played the game once and finished it. Never again.
Don't forget her spawn. Unsettling baby faces. CHECK. Far too many limbs (And growing more as they attack!)? CHECK. Habit of tackling the player to the ground and disemboweling them with their little fangs? CHECK.
See I could handle those children no problem. It's something specific to spiders that I freak over.

Those would be a novelty, giant spiders are done to death in RPGs. You don't see many other giant regular critters in games.
