I can play DA and fight the spiders, but afterwards I have to pause. I have to sit and breathe through it, and rub my arms to get the tactile feelings and panic to subside before I can continue forward. 

 

In the case of DA2 spiders, I actually screamed throughout the whole fight (because I couldn't zoom-out) while fighting with my eyes half closed. I avoided all side quests that would bring me back to those areas just in case.

Spiders, in a game or otherwise, tend to have a pretty visceral effect on people. I especially don't enjoy the sounds they make or when one has a bright marking on its abdomen. The longer I have to deal with them, the higher my anxiety levels rise. It's crazy really, what a pixel spider can make you feel.

 

I think that's called typo-phobia ...  

Well, they do make me scream... out of exasperation.

 

EDIT: As for Blinky, his design kinda makes me think of the Praetorian from Mass Effect because of the spiky design. Except much larger, mutated and... with globules of pus. Ew. Just all around gross

I hate the hissing so much, and when they die... Why can't they just collapse? Stupid curled up legs in the air, uuuugh. 

 

The longer I have to fight them, the more my skin crawls. 

 

He looks like a gigantic alien crab, so I'm not freaked out, luckily.

dude i feel your pain. Im terrified of spiders...in fact the giant one in DA2 made me scream because it pop up behind my character. why cant it be giant snakes. When playing games with giant spiders I either play as a ranged character or switch to one so i dont have to deal with them up front.

It dropped ON TOP of me! Was horrible. I truly screamed and squinted while throwing as many combos at the damn thing, crying out "Why won't you die already??" 

 

I avoided all side quests after that stupid Varteral because I was too scared to deal with another monstrous spider.

I happen to be a huge dragon fan , but the only reason i could play origins and dragon age 2 was because people had created mods to replace spiders with mabari or bears in dragon age nexus.

Is it possible that this can be done in dragon age inquisition , please i want to play a spider free game without panic attacks

Just think of the happines you will feel when you kill them   I absolutely hate spiders but I try not to think of it that much

What bothers me about this prank is what if someone has a fight response and instead of running hurts the dog not realizing its a joke? A swift kick could seriously injure it, and that would just be sad. 

 

Yes, fight the giant creature running straight for you... I doubt anyone, even someone with a fight response, is going to do that. You run from what you don't understand. That is human nature, and no human is outside the confines of nature.

I don't think it was a required cave, at least it didn't look like it. It was very out of the way and they kind of just wandered up to it while trying to avoid spoilers. But it probably had interesting loot or codex entries to be found in there.

well I live in Australia... swooping magpies is real

I get magpies in my backyard all the time, they turn up during spring to try to steal wires I use to tie things down in the garden. They seem to get a lot of fun trying to pull them out. I assume they use it for nesting.

I'm not ornithophobic, but once I was patching the roof and 5 magpies decided to watch me. That was creepy....

Oh, but oh! I went to Dracula Untold tonight and it had a few close-ups of spiders, specifically some tarantulas, and I looked at the bloody things and didn't scream or jump!!

 

I think DA is slowly starting to cure me!

Those spiders from the demo just would not die!  They almost wiped out the entire squad.  Granted, Cameron was playing on hard, but the spiders still seemed quite a bit tougher than they were in previous games.
