When I went to a psychologist about my extreme fear of heights, she used the Leap of Faith from Assassin's Creed as part of our sessions - it did help!
Awesome.

She also had me visualise what it would feel like to be an Assassin, and to fill myself with their confidence when running along rooftopos and climbing up tall buildings - I was sceptical at first, but it did work!
Pride Demons are generally bipedal and like 3 times bigger than normal folk. Blinky has multiple legs, a head part with LOTS of eyes and an abdomen behind him and about 5 times bigger than normal folk. He's a big badass demonic spider
Did we ever see the entirety of Blinky's body? All I remember are those eyes. That big, beautiful, constellation of soulful eyes.

That sounds very odd. But also very cool. Was your psychologist a gamer or just using what you enjoyed doing?

They've been doing cools things with oculus rift to treat some disorders.
@OP, if you can't mod the game, mod your brain. Find a hypnotist to convince you that spiders are puppies.
So you want him/her to kill puppies is that it? Why you heartless swine!
You can't love Dragon Age or any other fantasy universe if you can't stand spiders. Ever since LotR, brave heroes fought gigantic arachnids. They are cheap, classic, and *apparently* very easy to animate foes since we got quite realistic spiders since the dawn or RPGames.
You can't have fantasy rpg without spiders.
Deal with it.
And maybe try to overcome your fear by facing them in a game. They can't hurt you. (and they won't do it either in real life, if you leave them in peace.)
They're animals, not eldritch abominations from outer space.
.

She was using something I enjoyed doing. After I told her that my fear was so great that even in gaming I was having problems with heights, she asked me about the games I was playing. I had to admit that in Assassin's Creed when scaling things like the inside of huge cathedrals my hands sweated so much that I had to put the controller down and walk away, or that if my toon fell from a great height (because you can't climb with your eyes shut!) I could actually feel the blood draining from my head, she suggested we use AC as part of the therapy. That suited me, because at that point I was seriously afraid I'd have to stop playing. One of the exercises was to pretend to be Altair, and to walk around her office basically channeling all his confidence. Or to sit with my eyes closed and imagine that I was looking out across Damascus from one of the viewpoints. I felt a bit stupid at first, but again, it worked.

I never got this extreme fear of spiders some people have. I mean. I'm terrified of heights, But I can still play games like Mirror's Egde and Assassins Creed.

I sort of get that when playing Assassins Creed. Whenever I have to do a leap of faith from like a hundred story building, my feet start getting really numb. And when I climb buildings, I get this weird feeling in my stomach. It's bearable.

I had a mild fear of heights as well. In gaming for example I usually have good awareness and coordination and can perform most tasks with one try, but I was losing my coordination when I had to make an important jump. One thing that helped me was recalling my school gym teacher. We were on a school trip to a nearby mountain village and when we stopped for a break, he climbed down to the edge of a cliff and stayed there for 2-3 minutes, in a spot that was barely wide enough to comfortably stand and with a drop of at least 100 meters/300 feet. It looked like something you'd see in an extreme sports event.
Sez you!
I worked undercover for Great Cthulhu himself for seven centuries. I know what I'm talkin' about ![]()

They're not that easy to animate. I'm mildly arachnophobic (as in I do not overreact untill they are very close, then it's war), I don't mind spiders in video games because they often do not "move" like spiders to me. They don't trigger the "Spider Alert" button in my brain. The only time I had a problem was playing the original Thief, the way they moved in that game was downright creepy to me and I always had to take the longest possible road around them.

I get this too... my palms start to get really sweaty when I'm climbing up a serious tower.

My palms might get sweaty when that happens, I don't know. My palms are naturally sweaty anyway which can be disgusting for everyone around me.
I happen to be a huge dragon fan , but the only reason i could play origins and dragon age 2 was because people had created mods to replace spiders with mabari or bears in dragon age nexus.
Is it possible that this can be done in dragon age inquisition , please i want to play a spider free without panic attacks
The best way to cure phobia is by repeated exposure to what cause the fear. If you have panic attacks, you might want someone else there with you while you face the spiders in the game.
I'm really sorry, but I honestly don't understand this. How do you have a panic attack over seeing digital 3d models in a video game? I mean I do know what it's like to have a phobia, I have a phobia of dogs. But I don't get panic attacks over Houndoom or Mightyena in pokemon, much less the mabari in da. Cause I know one simple fact. They're not real.
So please explain. I saw the same kinds of posts on the skyrim forum prerelease too and it's boggled my mind ever since.
Spiders are different to dogs. They can be unseen, yet you see them everywhere when you're worked up and stressed about spiders. Dogs, that doesn't happen because they are bigger and louder, you know where they are.
When I see on the television that some spider has crossed into my country, I freak out quietly in my head and I start looking for them everywhere.
But again. This is a video game where spiders tend to be the size of a dog. Or bigger. So same concept really. They're not tiny and able to hide easily. They suck at hiding really, they're so big.Spiders are different to dogs. They can be unseen, yet you see them everywhere when you're worked up and stressed about spiders. It's the idea. The 8 spindly legs, the however many eyes... they're creepy. Sometimes too creepy for people to bare which is why people get phobias. It doesn't matter on the size, it's the features.
With your fear of dogs... what do you see when you see a staffy dog or an equally vicious dog breed?

You are brave! I've wanted to post about this for a while, but in the past any threads about arachnophobia is always filled with spider pictures as soon as it's posted. The spider mods for most RPGs have always been pretty quick to hit Nexus or BSN. This time I am, as you, not so sure we will get any mods.
I would like to suggest to BioWare that THEY create some kind of spider morph mod/DLC. (Maybe larvae monsters because they can spit poison and web stuff too - but anything else already as an asset in game would work). As a fan service? If not, they could cash in, because I would be willing to PAY for a DLC to get rid of any spiders.
...Deal with it.
...
Don't be silly.
It's not realistically possible for everyone to deal with it and as an RPG lover I play most games with mods.

I see a monstrous beast no matter the breed. Even chihuahuas. Except in video games. Because like I said. . I know they are not real. Their 3d models and collections of computer data. Nothing more. Period.
But it's the same thing. It doesn't matter whether it is a 3D model in a game or in a movie or whatever. If you start seeing "monsters" climbing up the wall in the corner of your eye, you're going to freak out. Let's just leave this on a standstill. You don't fear spiders, therefore you cannot picture being afraid of them. It's called Qualia. You cannot perceive or experience the world any other way than the way you already see it. For example, you would not be able to perceive the sky being green instead of blue because you're mind registers it as being blue.
