Just name your inquisitor Delbert!

There was this huge spider hanging from the ceiling 2 days ago, and I killed it with a magazine.
At that exact moment, somebody texted me and my phone went DING.
I totally leveled up, guys.
Once in a lifetime moment. Kill a spider, get a promotion.
Blinky Ahoy! Don't say we didn't warn you (arachno-trypophobes beware):
Spoiler
I freak out if I see a spider IRL, but I'm not constantly thinking about them if I don't see them, and I have no problem with looking at game-spiders. But Blinky is soooooooo disgusting, those....things...all over its body.....I literally feel my skin crawling and my stomach turning as I look at it. Horrible, cruel monster designers
I definitely will have to use tac-cam for this guy!
Ah yes our human race never stops to astound me. In most places around the world it is far more likely to get bitten by a dog than getting bitten by a spider (and in most regions geting bitten by a spider is pretty harmless as well unlike most dog bites) but yet arachnophobia is the most common phobia and people look at me as if I suggested to steal candy from small children if I say that I hate dogs.
I don't think Blinky was a spider though.
It's a spider.
I have arachnophobia, I used to scream and cry at the tiniest spiders possible. Now, thanks to making myself, I am okay with tarantulas (held one and had one on my face) and can move any other spiders I don't like out of my house. I can look at them up close, don't like touching them or if they move towards me. I have never had an issue with them on tv or games though. I know how debilitating it can be, and can't imagine how you must feel if you get the fear response whilst gaming.
It's a spider.
A giant demon spider with a shield-head covered in holes with eyes in, to boot!
Greater Phobia Demon.
By the way dear arachnophobes, this is what the world would look like without any spiders:

Yes thats all bugs. And yes the world would look like that all the time with the only break being cold winters. So if you wish to live in a world without spiders you better like insects instead. And probably get used to not talking anymore, if you don't want to swallow dozens of insects a day.

Smash the beetles! Conk! Conk! Conk! Smash the beetles!
"Mule kicks me in the chest"
For reference, please see Game of Thrones Season 4 Episode 8.
I totally sympathize with the original poster. Oddly enough, I'm not scared of spiders in 'real life.' They're not my favorite things but I deal with them just fine. But in video games, when I actually have to interact with them, I freak out. I'll walk into an environment that I merely think might have spiders and my body locks down a bit.
And maybe try to overcome your fear by facing them in a game.
...and, actually, I sort of do this. If I'm forced to fight spiders because mods aren't available, the fear of them showing up is the biggest thing. Once the little bastards are actually on screen I go into full-blown Rambo mode. My girlfriend had a blast watching me tear through the spiderbug tunnels in Metro: Last Light.
No arachnophobia here. I even picked up a spider in my hand and put it outside yesterday at work.
And half the time I leave spiders around the house as long as they're not in my bedroom (where the guinea pigs are) or in inconvenient places (like the one that built a web in my sister's purse over the course of one night). However, the giant spiders in these games kinda creep me out, but only when they're dead and they curl up. It's disgusting.
But I absolutely loath, I repeat loath killing wolves or dogs in games. ![]()
Screw spiders! I want a mod to get rid of these things.....

*shudders*
It's a spider.
Not a traditional spider.

Why do you loathe that?
I don't have Arachnophobia but I feel for those of you that do..spiders I do not like them being in my home though sometimes I take them and throw them out of the door or just kill them, sometimes my cat will take care of them. ![]()
Still it is a game you know they are just a bunch of pixels, just try and think of that when you cross one in the game. ![]()

I don't have a problem with the idea of spiders, in fact I actually OK'd my husband's plan to release a bunch of those fuzzy tiny jumping spiders in our crawlspace because they would kill all the other, grosser, more poisonous spiders and centipedes that live down there. I just don't want to look at them. The legs squick me out. I will say that centipedes/millipedes gross me out more than spiders, so I suppose I have a leg-phobia? The more legs, the grosser? I dunno, because octopi don't gross me out ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Because they are arms.

According to the wiki, that is an Envy Demon, but I have no idea where they got that information from.
Because they are arms.
lol true. So I guess arms are fine, but more than 4 legs is a no-go.
Don't like spiders don't play the game or force yourself to overcome your limits.
Why do you loathe that?
Speaking for myself (not the person you asked the question) I have serious moral problems with the idea of killing unwilling combatants. Which applies to just about any sort of animal bred for use in war by humans (or any other sapient species, for that matter).
So if, for example, I'm attacked by a pack of wolves in the wild, like in Tomb Raider, I won't have a problem killing them. That's just the way of nature.
But killing attack dogs in Call of Duty makes me feel absolutely vile inside. Those dogs didn't have any choice about being there.
I'm not looking forward to fighting mabari in DAI. It won't ruin the game for me, or anything, but it'll make me feel really gross when I have to do it. I'd much rather be able to believe that every enemy I killed in the game came to the battlefield of their own free will.

Mabari are bred for war.
I've always wondered, if you have arachnophobia, are you also scared of scorpions?
