As an aside, this thread has made me feel better about "Blinky". Based on the dialogue in the trailer, I was fairly convinced it was the Elder One, but now it seems more likely to be a lower level boss battle in the Fade. Hopefully.

I'm sad, I really liked the skill "assassination" in DA II. Overwhelm was usefull too... I just hope some skills will compensate that. (assassination was a rare skill that could even bypass an immunity, here critical immunity! Yes, you bypass an immunity and critical striked whatsoever!)

I blame Skyrim and DA's hissing sound from when the spiders appeared in a room. Freaked me out that and in Skyrim where the occasional loading screen would troll and have a GIANT spider on it for no reason at all.

Googled trypophobia to see how long I could last in the Images tab and now I want to vomit.
It's f***ing horrible... why did you write this... you made me do it... ![]()

Pretty sure anyone who googles trypophobia winds up getting it. It's really pretty gross.

They're animals, not eldritch abominations from outer space.

Blinky would like to have a word with you

And then I googled trypophobia and I'm fairly certain I have it. Maybe it's the images google suggested, but I just- why?

Sorry, credit for the conceptual design goes to the concept art team. I believe it was drawn by Casper Konefal. Brilliant artist! I fashioned the sculpt and built the game model, textures and shaders.
So can we expect The Elder One to look scarier that that? Or are you guys going for something more intimidating than scary? Probably can't answer that, merely curious.

Thankfully, I don't think trypophobia is a phobia you have to confront in reality much. Unless you're attacked by photoshopped people, I guess.

Because trypophobia is not actually considered a phobia by most scientists. It's not even in the dictionary so the images you see on google are literally made by people who have no idea what they are on about. Freakish mushroom fruit growing out of shoulder is not what freaks people out, its the texture of that fruit/mushroom thing that freaks people out. They've just stuck it on a shoulder because they don't understand it at all.

Again, its down to the level of fear you have towards it. Essentially, a person could be set off by the slightest thing such as the bumps on your tongue when you brush your teeth in the mirror.

Very true.
It was really only the ones that were on the skin that bothered me...beehives and like the holes you see for like a wasp's nest don't do it. But the other ones of the holes on the skin? Ugh, man. It just made me feel itchy and just uneasy. I scrolled through a few pages before I just noped out.

I'm grossed and creeped out by regular house spiders, but as for giant spiders in video games, I only have an issue with them if they are literally in your face (hence why I modded them out of Skyrim) or when they drop out of the air with a loud hiss and the battle auto-pause gets you a temporary facefull of the above! ![]()
Bottom line: so long as they aren't the "drop from the sky" variety of spiders, I should be fine.
