Will the localized versions have the option to use the english voices (will they be on the disc)? I'm wondering if I'll have to buy the game in the UK if I want to hear the voices I'm familliar with.
Language options ?

No, the game will come with both American and English accents on disc.

I'm pretty sure they're asking about NPC voices.

Don't know with what the console version ships, but with the PC version you should have no issues registering the version you prefer via Origin and download it if it doesn't come multi-lingual on disc.

I'm afraid actually, I'm living in France and I'm buying the CD from French Amazon. But I really want to play the VO, just afraid that finally I can't play in English and have that magnificent VA cast...

It comes translated into French, German, Spanish, Italian and some others. It's approximately 8 different languages the game is translated into.
If this is also not the answer you are looking for, please, state with clear intent.

For PC customers, since only one VO language will be installed with the game, we will have the English VO pack as a free download from within the Origin client. If you have the discs, you can probably figure out how to the the English files on your own. For digital customers, or people who don't want to mess with their install manually, you can grab the English VO pack.

Maybe this helps?
Heyo, all. Derek French here. You might remember me from such things as the Neverwinter Nights Live Team and pretty much every BioWare PC title for the past many years. Let me see if I can answer some questions for Dragon Age: Inquisition and languages.
Now a word of caution. We are still working on finalizing these systems and some things may change between now and then, but my answers will be for how things either are or how we want them to be when we ship the game. For happy fun time quoting purposes, today is Wednesday April 23rd, 2014.
Here are the current languages we support in Dragon Age: Inquisition PC.
VO (voice over): English, German, and French
Text: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Polish, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese, and Japanese.
There are 2 parts to language selection that come into play. One is the the Origin language that the client defaults to the OS language. The Origin client will install the matching language for the game. At this time, all installed versions of Dragon Age: Inquisition will include English text, as well as your regional language. Language selection will be available in some manner within the game.
All text languages that do not have a matching VO language will get English VO. If you are in the Polish region, you will get Polish text, English text, and English VO.
What does this mean for VO? At this point, if you are in German or French regions, you will get your respective VO languages. What are your options for English VO right now? I don't know, but we are looking into a number of solutions. Also our language selectable will be dynamic, so it should offer you a choice from all discovered languages.
[...]
You can read the complete post over here.
So, if I understood Derek French correctly you have to install DAI via Origin. Origin detects your region and the language of your operating system (in my case it's German). DAI will be installed in the same language as the OS, so my game would be in German.
Are there any news about this topic? I still have my fingers crossed that we can change easily between the different language versions.
EDIT: Never mind, sorry. My question was already answered while I was still doing some research
. Thank you! It's great to hear.

What about the console versions, specifically PS3? Will they include all the various languages as well?

I know there is a way to change language (download language files somewhere... errr.. else) but this usually works bad with downloadable content later.
EDIT I've read Derek post again and found my answer. May be origin should change language descriptions? Right now it's misleading.

I pre odered DAI in Russia and origin store shows only Polski and Russian (subtitles) languages available. Will i be able to download english version? I can t download english version of The Sims 4 for example even when i set origin to english. Maybe another downloadable pack with English subtitles for DAI? Pretty please?

He's talking about voice over, though. I would really perfer english subtitles as well. Both Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 3 didn't have options for english subtitles ![]()

I did mean voices, not accents. I want to play the game with the original voices (PS4 here). So I'd like to know if the french version of the PS4 game will have the option to switch to english or if I should get it from the UK.

Depends on your Sony region. In the Americas, you will get EN and FR VO, with EN, FR, ES, and BR-PT text. In Europe you will get EN, DE, and FR VO, with EN, FR, ES, IT. DE. RU, and PL text. Japan gets EN VO with JP and EN text.
Not quite sure how it all comes down for digital versions, but it should be similar.

Hm, I war referring to this part of Derek post:

My origin set to English and I CAN download English version of Dragon Age 2. Unfortunately, for some reason I can't do the same for all games, that's why I'm worried a little.

I'm surprised Japan won't have a dub, as they are famous for their dubs and voice actors.

Perhaps not enough time. Translation can also be a pain too (as someone who has a degree in the language I can testify to this). I had some friends in Japan say that they actually prefer hearing the voices in English since it keeps them immersed in that setting even with the Japanese subtitles (though two of them wished to hear it in Japanese).

one of my biggest fears was to have to play it with the German voices (and they suck big times), but yeah for the English options ![]()

Hey Bioware, for us modder-enthusiasts who would love to set it so that Orlesians speak French while in Orlais (or at the very least, Val-Royeaux), is there a chance you'll be able to make other languages available for download as well? ![]()

I'm actually in Brazil, just wondering here
Can I get EN text?
