I would not necessarily go down the new model route. Re-using textures is good if the tome of the texture is where you want it. I find re-colouring a pain in Paint.net so I avoid it. If you can do new models that is always going to be better though.

Fair enough. As I test out new architecture concepts I like to see what people think. Subjective though it is, I always like to see if I am making something to ridiculous, or missing on details that could bring it closer to what I want.

What do you think of this tilted cylinder concept as a prevalent concept for the elven city? I am again looking at high reaching and arching white marble concepts.

This is the very basic concept. Of course front doors and possibly vestibules could be added at the bottom. A spiraling staircase up the side to a second floor as well

is possible. But as a base concept how does it work for the theme?

My initial thought is a more plainer, white texture, though still with some adobe like texture to its normal map. I could also sharpen it so it looks more geometric and less clay like as it seems to do near the top. Not sure why it bubbles out like that.

EDITED: To show the more geometric and crips textured version

I prefer the upper one with the marble texture. These are very nice and will give the city an individual feel  I think.

Along those lines, I could see elves favoring an organic design similar to the pitcher plant. It'd be like what you have there, except for a more pronounced lip, some curve along the vertical axis, and perhaps ribbing.

In answer to your wondering about why it bubbles out like that, it's all because of the smoothing groups.  I tend to prefer the way the top one looks as well, but you should get rid of the bubbling look on the bottom by selecting the down-facing polygons and setting them to a different smoothing group or simply removing them from all smoothing groups.  Or by deleting them.

Yes I adjusted the smoothing groups for the result seen.

I was thinking the spiral staircase on one side would be a mix of the concepts in the BG2 elven city. I could have the stair case be wide at the bottom then narrow as it spirals around the top, giving it kind of that plant like flow. Then a iron railing on the edge would reduce the plainness and add more sweeping and spiraling looks.

The steps will be a BCK piece as will the tower. Then I can make windows with little verandas as a BCK piece.

What do you mean by ribbing? Simply adding some lines around the tower? Like stone version of vines wrapping around it, or like ribbons?

The results seen in the second pic do not include a bottom that's not bowed out. Those are the groups I said to change.

Spiral stairs would work as would creating a roof at just below the lowest point of the section.

You're going to need circular room tiles and a circular internal stair for this though.

Hmm Tiles are the one thing I dont know. Could fake it with placables but thats not ideal. If only RWS didnt force center pillars in their tower rooms set.

I was referring to something like this:

One possibility anyway.

Oh yes that what I thought, I was just thinking they were horizontal ribs.

I've been waffling on this for a while I can safely say this campaign won't continue. There is too much I want to change to make my vision  and I won't settle for less. Way too busy to be master of all trades or even develop a campaign in general.

But in other news the fatty project is available for everyone now in a working form. This can be my legacy here.
