I'm at work so I can't sift through the thread to see if this has already been mentioned but you get a 10% discount on this purchase if you've already purchased EA Access.  Something to consider....

Yes still more expensive than buying the disc though in the UK.

Now I'm torn. I already preordered it from Gamestop. But.....now I wanna cancel that and get it digi download thru XO. I know I'm never gonna trade it in. I already know that. I never trade in BW games. And it will prolly make me install sum stuff anyway. prolly abt 17gb worth of stuff even with the disk.

(although I'd like to think I'd stay up for the midnight unlock...all ready to play. Knowing me, I'll prolly fall asleep waiting for midnight! lol! I get up way too early usually to stay up so late.)

I never trade in ANY of my games. Even the ones I barely played that I didn't enjoy. Digital was a no-brainer. It took some convincing though from friends to get me on board.

At any rate, I think there will only be a couple hours difference, at most, between people who pre-loaded digitally, and those of us getting midnight release copies. :)

Hell, if folks with the preload don't plan to be awake at midnight, it really doesn't make a difference anyway. I'll be awake, and I might create my character at that point, but then I'm sleeping and playing during waking hours.

Same thing I did with Sunset Overdrive today. Midnight hit, preload unlocked, played a little bit, went to sleep, and after breakfast and such, I've resumed and actually sunk time in.

A fine plan for those with the available time. :)

I do. If I didn't like them.

I'm srsly considering the canceling my preorder and going digital.....hmmm, I'll see.

It's totally personal preference, but I'll be picking up a copy at midnight release, and I don't expect the install will delay me more than a couple of hours. (Or actually, maybe not at all? I will have downloaded DAI already for EA Access, so if it already uses that install when I put the disc in...)

Oh that's right, I didn't think about EA early access allowing us to have the game installed already. I guess it could make us install the game again but I don't see why. It's suppose to be just a locked version of the full game right? Not like a demo.

Its what I did. I had my physical preorder from Amazon for MONTHS. Still cancelled and went digital.

I'm really hoping that the download for EA Access will be enough, and it will just let us play after we put in the disc etc. If it doesn't it isn't a huge deal, but it would save a little time, which is always nice. ^_^

I don't know if thats the case, but I(being someone without EA Access and not likely to pick it up) would hope it is, as a benefit for those who signed up for the program.

A friend who has it really digs it, so I hope y'all would get to enjoy the benefits she does.  :)

I seem to remember reading somewhere that EA Access subscribers would be able to play Inquisition 5 days before the official release date.  Is this correct?

Yes, but they haven't said in what way - whether it's a time limit, limited to a certain plot amount, or the full game.

Not the whole game, just a very small portion. At least thats my assumption, rather than the whole game. We'll find out soon enough.

Thanks for the replies.  I can easily spend 5 days puttering around with just the character creator. Hehehe

I asked the folks at EA Access about what happens if you play the early access downloaded version but then buy a copy on disc - for example if you're getting the Inquisitor's Edition - and they said you can just continue where you left off with the same save. So I guess you just need to pop in the disc (and redeem/download any bonus content) and carry on. :)

(You can message them on Facebook with any questions you can't find answers to elsewhere.)

That may not be entirely accurate... I mean, you'll probably have to delete the digital version of the game, and install the disc version of the game(you can still use the saves, yes, it's just you'd probably have to reinstall the game).

The 360 digital copies don't mesh with the disc copies, because trying to play a digitally installed game off a disc won't result in playing it off the disc...  The Xbox One may not be the same way, but I'm betting it is.

Oh, OK.  That's not too bad - as long as I don't have to actually *download* it all again. Ow, my bandwidth!! ;) Some titles on XB1 allow you to start playing before they're completely installed, though it varies from title to title, so we'll see I guess!

Thanks! :)

I don't believe it's the same as 360 at all. On the X1, it's the same info, whether from disc or digital download and takes up the same amount of hard drive space as it has to be fully installed. It's more like PC downloads now, but you are either getting it over your internet (which is a problem for some people) or installing it from your disc.

My disc install of Destiny was the same size as digital download. *shrug*

I need someone to explain this EA Early Access to me. I have xbox one- is it a subscription? I'm buying a hard copy of the game because of the extreme download time on my crap internet would take forever. But if I subscribed to the early access I would download the whole game or just part of the game?

Maybe it would be smart to have the game downloaded prior to that night so I don't spend half my night installing it.

So the full, final game is up for download. Logically, this means DAI is gold, doesnt it?

EA Access is a subscription service for EA games. $30 a year and you have access to certain EA titles you can play for free as well as getting discounts on all EA games purchased and being able to have certain deals with them(such as the 5 day headstart with Inquisition).

It is not. When it is, we'll hear about it. For now, it is still being finalized.

It also has a $5 a month option that can be cancelled at anytime. Therefore, if your like me and only care to play Dragon Age Inquisition early, you can get the early access for just November and then cancel it.

Everytime we get a new game it comes with fifteen minutes of updates from things added on past it being done I guess.

Fair enough.  I'm also concerned that the game will need to be reinstalled using the disc, primarily because the digital version obtained via EA Access will likely be locked(after the trial time is over), and unable to be used until you purchase the digital copy.

I certainly wouldn't complain if everything went without a hitch, and there is no need to reinstall the game using the disc, but this is EA we're talking about.  And I figure it's better to go into something like that expecting the worst...

as a EAA member I can tell you that you will be fine when I joined EAA I sold my disk copy of FIFA 14 and Battlefield 4 I did not have to redownlaod the DDL version, it just said play.  Same goes for any digital game if you have the digital copy downloaded but don't have the license (your friend downloaded a game he has while at your house) it will tell you to either put the disk in or purchase the license to continue playing.
