As a male default Paragon Shep I chose to save Kaidan because he seemed like a really nice dude and wanted to have him as a friend.I couldn't bring myself to let him die. Also, Ashley seemed a bit b****** AND she tried to "ninja-romance" me when I clearly wanted Liara.

On my current playthrough as a custom FemShep who is more renegade I will try to choose to save Ashley just for change.

Replaying the trilogy i just did this again.

Saved Ashley because

1. I was flirting/romacing with her (even though i would choose Liara by the end my shepard still had feelings for Ashley)

2. Kaiden was the tech expert and therefore with the bomb and i decided to save ashley and the salarians

3. I like to think Ashley (or Kaidens) coldness in ME 2 also is influenced by  Liara being chosen over her (even though i know it's not a factor in game, it is in my head lol)

Used to always save Kaiden, didn't like Ashley in ME1...but come ME3, Kaiden becomes dark and mopie, I really went off him...I was hearing a lot about Ashleys challenging Shep and not falling all over him, sounded like fun :)... so did a save Ashley run and love her new attitude in ME3 and have saved her ever since.

First play through I saved Ashley. Then I played ME2 and ME3. Now Kaiden has and always will live as long as I continue to play through the trilogy. Or until I die. Probably the latter.

Kaidan is a nice guy, but Ashley is hot

*processing info*

I let Kaidan live, another reason: he is more powerful than Ashley (at least in my gameplay (soldier - biotic))

I let Ashley die, I don't even regret her. She was a pain in the ass. The only reason, why somebody would let her live is that, she is pretty hot in Mass Effect 3. Cannot see any other reason

Not quite ...lol...as an older female Gamer 'hot' female pixals are a lost event on me :P ...I am one of those few who actually likes her new attitude in ME3, makes me feel like a dying breed being an ME3 Ash fan  ...lol...I didn't like her in ME1, but really took to her ME3.

Indeed, her new attitude in ME3 is better, however it doesn't matter, I still don't like her, as I said, she was a pain in the ass. Daaaamn, in ME1 she was so annoying sometimes, that I thought I was gonna throw her out of the airlock :D

Wait, who else would you like to introduce to the airlock? Actually, Ashley was the only person, who I wanted to throw out of the airlock. Ok, I admit there was something else, that I wanted to eliminate.... namely it was the council. You can't imagine, how much I regret, that I saved their asses in ME1

Haha...the Counsel, yes :P ...I think that Turian was everyones choice for the Airlock, though I did like his turn around in ME3 and somehow I think it kinda fit him. Why did you save the Counsel? I watched the arguments flying back and forth on this Forum way back then, to save or not save the Counsel and feel both sides had very valid points...I save them because though it's taking a big risk to not concentrate on Sovereign, there is also sense in keeping the Destiny Asension flying for it's added Guns in the fight (though I don't think it turned around did it?), plus need a united Galaxy, not a fractured one if the Reapers did get through and the Counsel (at that time I thought they would support) were the best chance to keep the Galaxy united.

As for Airlock:

ME1: Mainly Ash in ME1...though as I played through a number of times and went onto ME2, my ME1 cast grew, nothing personal against Wrex, his pretty cool as far as Krogans go, but as I learned more about Krogans I felt having one on the Normandy is a dangerous idea, so not so much the Airlock for Wrex, just more of he shouldn't really be on the Ship. I loved Liara in ME1, she was this sweet, innocent, bookish girl, I remember playing ME2 the first time and was hanging out to see Liara, broke my heart when I finally found her, I didn't like what BW did with her, my next ME1 games with her after that is not the Airlock for her either, but more of a just stay out of my way :(

ME2: Miranda was Airlock material to me, found her too callous and ruthless, really could not take to her on any level, tried all her dialogs and romance, etc...but nada. Realistically I don't feel Jack and Grunt should have been on the Normandy to begin with, both too dangerous to be on a Space Ship, not really Airlock for them, they just shouldn't have been on board...I did love that Renegade line with Miranda about Grunt lol... ...about opening the Airlock if Grunt acts up. Legion probably really shouldn't have been on the Normandy either, another great risk, but I'm bias about him, love the metal man... :P

ME3: Javik out the Airlock, didn't like him at all, very cruel and ruthless species, enough to put the Krogan to shame  ...really couldn't take to him on any level either. Allers out the Airlock! though not a squaddie, more of a dishonorable mention :D

What I do love about what BW did was how they fleshed out these characters so well and deeply, to the point where so many of us ME gamers have become so passionate about these characters, whether it's love, hate or somewhere in between, they bought these characters to life and made us feel them...watching all the battles that break out over the characters on these Forums, how these fictional beings have effected so many people, the battles over pixals is a shame  :(  though is also a clear indication of how well BW has done :)

All Malesheps saved Ashley, including Canonshep.
All Femsheps saved Kaidan, except one.

I still think that Kaidan is a far more useful squadmate in ME3, especially after the patch that bugged Ashley's Marksman.

Yeah, the Turian was annoying as hell, however he was the only member of the council, who offered help as first in ME3. Why did I save the council? Because I thought they were gonna help me in future, instead of this, they seemed to be not grateful for saving their asses. And they suggested I'm a psychopath, because they didn't find a hologram on Ilos. What a bunch of idiots :D

Wrex on the ship is a dangerous idea? Nah, he was one of my favourites squad members. Starting ME2 I hoped, to see him on Normandy, but the cruel reality disappointed me a bit. Yeah, I hate what BW did with Liara in ME2 too. In ME1 she was sweet, charming and polite ^_^  but in next ME she was absolutely different girl. Thanks god, "Lair of the Shadow Broker" DLC, was released. Maybe it wasn't , what I hoped for, but it's still better than one short conversation on Ilium...

I liked Miranda, especially her appearance B)  so... in my case, she wasn't airlock material to me, but I feel she hasn't got a sense of humor at all. Anyway, I could never bring myself to throw her out of the airlock. Legion, Grunt, Jack - yeah, maybe it's kinda risky, to keep them on the ship, however there's no gain without risk. Now I would regret, If I did let them die in ME2.

Javik was brilliant, cruel, but I loved his "sense of humor", if I can call it in that way. Still remember scene from Citadel dlc, when Javik was invited to participate in some kind of movie (Blasto saves the galaxy, or something like that), damn - I couldn't stop laughing. He always made me laugh.

Ashley almost every time. The argument always boils down to she's a racist and Kaiden's boring, but actually her xenophobia improved as the game went on whereas Kaiden never stopped being boring. Plus I found her to be the best romance for my paragon Male shep. I felt the chemistry between them was good, even though at times she could be annoying and petty, I thought that the ups and downs made a good narrative. Still wish there was an option to have both in 3 and throw Vega out the airlock (even though Freddie Prz JR is a good voice actor)

So were you a Renegade Psychopath? Did they have a point? :D ...Or a goody-two-shoes Paragon, or something in between? (I tried all Sheps, but Paragade was my favorite). It was disappointing about how little support you get from the Counsel...through all three games. I had figured SURELY by ME3 I would have their full support, Sheps claims about the Reapers now irrefutable, their here, argument over, but still the Counsel won't unite :pinched: ...the Turian being the only one who eventually managed to sprout some grey matter.

I was one of the lucky few who got a favored returning squad member from ME1 to ME2...Garrus...A lot of people were disappointed not having an all squad return from ME1 to ME2, but more so from ME2 to ME3. I only did LotSB a few times, I didn't like how it was put together and ignored it after that, though I get my own little easter egg for my choice, in ME3 if you haven't done LotSB or spoken to Liara theres a short dialog between Shep and EDI, EDI makes a throw away comment about Liara being the SB, Sheps reaction is short but perfect :P

Yes, Miranda is very short on sense of humor, though a renegade romance with her has some grin moments :) ...I do orchestrate one squaddies death in ME2, Jacob, just find him bland in ME2, but can't stand him in ME3, I much prefer his stand in. As for the rest, they all survive into ME3, I did kill Miranda off in ME3 once, but regretted her death scene :crying: , may not like her, but that was pretty extreme, so haven't done it again.

I was one of the gamers who really despised ME3's ending, so never got the Citadel DLC (is the only DLC from all three games I don't have), I stopped playing ME shortly after the Citadel DLC came out, but now back and planning on getting the DLC, have heard enough about it now to pique my interest and check it out :)

I'm on my second playthrough of ME and because I want to see the diiference, I'm thinking of letting Ashley live this time. i'm about to enter Virmire and my major concern is that my first Shepard will climb up from Citadel rubble, knock on my door and beat me to death with heavy melee for killing her man (I technically romanced Kaidan all through the trilogy). If I don't drown on my tears first that is.

My most recent playthrough is as Perry Shepard, Spacer, War Hero, Soldier, I decided to let Ashley live, mainly because I wanted to see her reaction when Perry "cheats" on her with Jack (rarely do maleshep, never have done a Jack romance and wanted to see what happens - she usually dies in my other playthroughs). I let Ash gun down Wrex (deliberately didn't use the red or blue dialog choices). Half the time I don't even let Wrex on the Normandy, but ME3 defaults to a death on Virmire <_<. I hate the Turian and Salarian counselors, so I focus on taking out Sovereign, although by ME3 it has turned into "protecting human interests".

Jacob is vent boy and, since Zaeed is the Fire Team Leader, he's toast. Since Wrex was dead, I made sure Grunt doesn't survive the SM (by making every other squad member stronger in the biotic bubble with Miranda used to generate the bubble). Wreave does not get to have a super Krogan in his clan. I didn't save the genophage cure data and made sure Mordin (2nd Fire Team leader) didn't survive the SM so I could have Padok Wiks in ME3. Tali wasn't loyal because I told on her father. I sent her back with half the crew and Dr. Chakwas. I rewrote the Geth in ME2 so they'll be stronger in ME3. The Quarians won't survive in ME3 because they have stupidly attacked the Geth.

Usually Ash. I don't like her that much (although there's something better in her somewhere) but Kaidan just feels too much of a non-entity. At least Ashley is a person, with Kaidan it may as well be my omni-tool I leave behind. On the other hand if I'm really roleplaying it then Kaidan survives - he's more techy and hence with the bomb, and since the bomb is the mission that's where we need to be.

At first I went half and half. However, seeing how Ashley turns out in ME3 where the slightest, most random bits of her personality (and her increased cup size) become her dominating traits, I retroactively killed her off with the save editor. I like Kaidan (favorite FemShep romance) and he has much better scenes and chemistry with the crew in ME3.

I play both ways although I think I do more often than not lean moer towards Ashley over Kaidan. I think both characters aer great though. Although the playthrough I'm doing now I plan on keeping Kaidan and sacrificing Ashley.

Ashley, she's always my LI in the first game, and while I like Kaidan, he's just to bland for me, at least in ME1.

Might change that if we get a remastered version, now I just do N+ with ME2 and ME3.

I hope if we do get a remastered version I hope it get's shared with the PC too. Especially with ME1 as there is a glitch they will need to fix that affects 8 coer processors and that is a glitch that turns your character into black blocks during the Noveria and Ilos missions. Fortunately you can get around that by using the game console. But the consoles don't have that luxury. ME2 and ME3 should be straightforward to port given they don't have any serious glitches it's mostly ME1 that will need work.
