Whcih, might I say, is a fantastic idea! I was reading that when it was originally posted and you make several valid points. I'm a hetero male, but my Inquisitor may not be on a few playthroughs. My objective in DA games is to RP and my characters will never be the same, so why force them to be.
The game is for me a group of creative artists who produce a work together, with the message to the audience which they wanted to make. In my view, the whining on part of one or another interest group, which considers itself "oppressed" because it's a minority in its interests, doesn't automatically become any more of a valid criticism if the group in question is composed of gay people, than if it was composed of people who want dwarves with pink beards (actually the latter is possible in the game as well (!), at least for the player character).
The artists have the freedom to choose their message and the means through which they will communicate it. The audience has the freedom to experience the work or not. For anyone who is unhappy by that state of things, there is Kickstarter.
Keep is open now. At least for me. Using it right now.
