So the Keep's out and it's great, but I did notice one absent feature I'd wanted. Several users, myself included, have found that we can't import our old characters, or we've lost our files, or the sync simply won't register them. Fair enough, since the Tapestry lets us change everything, but if Hawke or the Warden make a physical appearance, we'll be left with the default looks. Sure, the default looks aren't bad, but it'd be nice to get to customize the appearance of our old heroes as we did before. So how about an appearance customizer, Bioware? Pretty please?

All we know about the Warden in Inquisition is that "they will be referenced with more than a passing mention. According to David Gaider, 'there is a story involving them', and they will have a presence in the game beyond mere gossip or rumor"

I don't think your characters syncing will have any effect on your ability to customise them in-game. That'll be done with a CC - importing face data across an engine and through a web app is simply impossible.

Yeah, I know, but I was hoping they'd have a CC in the game for previous characters. Apparently they do for Hawke, which I wasn't aware of (I'm really behind on a lot of info).

Have they actually confirmed that we'll edit Hawke in the CC in so many words?  All I see cited is an old tweet that says something like "If your Hawke were to appear you'd be able to customize their appearance", but never said if it would be the full CC or not.

Will there be a CC to re-create my Warden and/or Hawke?
No! (Not in the Keep. Should your Heroes from previous Games show up, you will have the opportunity to change their looks, but that will happen in-game!)

I doubt the character's facial features settings in DAO would be compatible with DAI's character models, so conversion from a savegame or exported character wouldn't be possible. Adding a customizer for the Warden and for Hawke is a nice touch although I could have lived with the defaults as well. I appreciate their perfectionism though :)

I just need to know if my Hawke's facial tats are going to be there. And if I'm going to have to change his hair. And are custom Hawkes finally going to get the nose smear?

If it wasn't possible to add the nose smear to a custom Hawke then I would assume that you won't be able to do it in Inquisition, but you never know. Maybe this time they won't lock the default Hawke and you'll be able to edit their face along with the smear.

I, on the other hand, hope there will be the default Hawke without the smear. I never liked it and never used it.

They could include it in the makeup options or something this time around ahahaha. (There were mods that let custom Hawke use it, but they were always on the tattoo slider, and I think that's where it was located in the chargen anyway?) It's a new engine though! Anything is possible! Maybe!

It says we can change their looks, but that could mean choosing from some pre-selected appearances.  It probably means the CC, but I won't be 100% satisfied that that is the case until it's spelled out in so many words.

Agreed. They haven't given a hardline answer as to whether their definition of "customize" means full-on CC or simple pre-made versions of Hawke. For all we know, the game will just have a predetermined look for Hawke depending on his/her class/weapon combo. The fans will cry foul, and then BW will come out and say, "well we never confirmed CC for Hawke", and they'd be 100% correct.

To the BSN community I say this: Tame your expectations because I suspect our control over Hawke's appearance will not be as in-depth as we assume.

I trust BioWare enough to make appealing pre-makes of Hawke, but THIS.

Dude, I know you're right to reserve some scepticism but my heart just broke into a million tiny fragments knowing that Hawke might not get a full CC.

Better to consider it now and prepare yourself before the game comes out, than have it sprung upon you mid-game.

"IF we were going to have one of your previous characters appear, we would absolutely give you a chance to change his or her look."

That can mean a lot of things....again, he did not say CC....changing a "look" can mean something as trivial as having Hawke equipped with certain weapon.

I don't see why it would be prohibitively difficult to alter Hawke's look with the CC. They already have a brand new CC system. The real questions are "are they including some of the old options for Hawke" they've more or less said they want different facial tattoo options for the Inquisitor because you're from a different region.  I'd imagine it's pretty much the same technical challenge as making the Inquisitor customize-able? (Perhaps even slightly easier because Hawkes are always going to be on human models.) *shrug*
