I do not need to hear the maker, to believe, the Old God cult has fallen long since, as their gods where struck down.. one... by one, and in memory, i remember.

"I Shall walk through the fade, with sunburst soul and silver sword to guide me"

"And I shall fear no demon, darkspawn, or old god."

"The Griffon Banner Flies resolute, Darkspawn burn in the ground"

"Stone sons live, and Arlathan blood flows true"

"I am the Herald of Andraste, the Sharp edge of the Maker's Sword"

"I do not ask why i serve, i merely ask how"

"I will wade into the tide of darkness... and i shall know no fear"

if Dumat cares not for mortals or need them... why do you care so much?

Willingly knowing your just a Tool?

Hessarian is the most popular and revered person in Tevinter's history.

Chantry propaganda. Hessarian was as spineless as a jellyfish, a traitor to everything we stand for. Thalsian, Darinius, Aurelian Titus, those are true Tevinters. Hessarian should have cooked beside Andraste.

Alot of words, but they are meaning less. The maker would have to be real to hear them. Dumat laughs. Silence befalls the faithless profligates.

if your lord is the lord of silience should you not be silent and not talk about him, because that is noisy and noisy is the opposite of silience. You are blaspheming your own god!

The faithful hear their god. Silence is sweet, truth can be found in it. But the silence you understand and refer to is reserved for those in the depths of profligacy.

Like it or not, but the Chantry is Tevinter's religion now, my friend.

Also Aurelian was nothing but a delusional mad man, whose foolish experiments led to his demise.

The chantry is an opiate for ignorant masses. It propagates weakness. Many Tevinters have strayed but many have not.

Aurelian was brilliant. Shame that Alistair was wearing thick plot armor.

No, but he thought that the old-time Roman religion was a lot better than Christianity, which supposedly made Christian Romans weak and stupid. Obviously the deranged rants of a man who had become divorced from reality.

It was a joke founded on the parallels between Andrastianism and Christianity, and between Tevinter and Rome.

The fall of the Roman Empire. Read it in college, a Roman History class. Honestly I find the ancient Roman Cultus Deorum to be as legitimate than any other religion. People are free to worship as they like. Andrastianism like modern Christianity spread through violence. The parallels between Clovis of the Franks, and Kordillus Drakon of Orlais are uncanny.

But I digress, Dumat is greater than any deity, his flames will cleanse the unclean and Thedas will see a new dawn. The golden light shines through.

I have taught Roman history at the university level. I think I am more well acquainted with the state of modern scholarship on the fall of the West than you are. As a small sample, Halsall (2006), Heather (2005), Goffart (2006), Wickham (2009), Pohl (2005), Wolfram and Dunlap (1997), and Elton (1996) are all excellent monographs and general histories of the period by reputable historians; they do not all agree on specifics of interpretation, but none of them seriously suggests that Christianity had anything to do with the Roman Empire's demise.

I know this is part of your shtick and this thread's shtick, but on the off chance that somebody reads this thread for actual information, I wanted to provide it to them lest they be misled by your comments - whether they were made in jest or otherwise.

O Zazikel, lord of chaos, rise up against Orlais and break her power

Free the world from her lies

Enslave her spirit

Work anarchy as her deserved curse

the peace of liberty is only yours to give

I pray that she never know it so long as your favored Tevinter will live

I do love when people hop on and list their credentials and proceed to tell you how much more intelligent and wiser they are than you. I am very well versed in the fall of the western half of the Imperium Romanum. I happen to be a huge Roman history buff. I read Caesar's Commentaries this past year, an enlightening and enjoyable read. I have read countless books on Roman history from the founding right up until the fall of the east in 1453. This thread contains no disinformation, but a simple comparison. You are the one bringing real world events into a game RP thread. So insecure are you that you have to list a bunch of dates and derivative works? Why? There is no point other than self aggrandizement.

Furthermore if someone is hopping into a thread about Dumat looking to learn about the glory of ancient Rome, then that is another issue altogether.

Mighty Dumat, Golden lord, I beseech thee guide us towards the light. Power be thy instrument. The faithful bask in the warmth of the golden light as it emanates divine from your scales. Your words are beautiful as the sweetest of song and they speak only truth. The peace you bring is silence. Silence from all war and strife. Your silence heralds freedom, flame, unity, beauty, mystery and a silent night. No more pain, no more fear, no more suffering just the sweet embrace of Silence. We seek the golden light. The faithful hear your call.

You're the one who started a pissing match, chief. And the one who confused "citing one's sources" with "insecurity". And the one who thought that the Commentarii de bello gallico have anything whatsoever to do with the fall of the Empire five centuries later.

I mean, I assumed you were just making a bad joke earlier, so I was trading jokes in kind, but if you're really serious about this little discussion...I guess my posting references to clear up misconceptions isn't such a bad idea after all.

Anyway: have your little roleplay corner of the BSN. I promise not to bring facts into it anymore. :)
