Races aside, I hope its not too serious. I don't want another Nolan dark knight where its Batman in name only. Like heath ledger was an amazing villain but he wasn't the joker. That most certainly wasn't Bane, and that was the saddest attempt at being batman ever.

Though like I said I'm not paying a dime for ff or ss

Heath Ledger was the most accurate Joker in a movie, the only thing that "wasn't Joker" was the fact he didn't have bleached skin

Or any clown motif. Or gag gear. Or a sense of humor. Or anything really. The only "joker" thing about him is the makeup and purple suit.

Otherwise he was more a mix of Riddler and Anarky.

(and Ultimate Fury was always modeled after Samuel L. Jackson to begin with)

Well, not "always".

In Ultimate X-Men back in 2000 and 2001, Fury was still a black guy, but he was clearly not modeled on Jackson: he wore a three-piece suit and had hair. They only went with the Jackson redesign in The Ultimates in 2002, and then included it in Ultimate Spider-Man, the flagship title, to make it 'official'.

And then after the popularity if the films they replaced the regular nick fury in themain comics with his long lost son, the movie version, whose been a total joke in the comics.

Not really, one of the key aspects of the Joker is that he's the complete opposite of Batman, which is something that Ledger pulled off quite well.

Ledger didn't engage in any riddles, and I am unfamiliar with Anarky.

If we're really going to discuss what Nolan's movies did wrong with the villains we have to address Ra's Al Ghul, and definitely the portrayal of Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow (which is a pet peeve of mine that I won't really get into here).

He still looked like a clown, he had a sense of humor, gag gear I can't really comment on. Still feels like the Joker to me

The whole Dark Knight trilogy was just a realistic view on Batman, Ra's Al Ghul wasn't immortal and didn't have Lazarus, The Joker didn't have bleached skin, Bane didn't have vemon and was in the League of Shadow's. But each of them still had the personality than made those characters who they are

If the Human Torch in the new FF movie still has the personality of the Human Torch him being black shouldn't even matter

Action and mentality wise yeah semi agreed but meh he was far to Beetlejeuce for me.

"Hay we shop at the same store."

But the thing is every joker had this Nickleson got flack for not being Romero, Ledger wasnt Hammel then ledger died now he is the milestone.

You say that like it's a bad thing :P

Hammel will always be THE Joker, but for live-action Ledger pulled off The Joker very well

Who's gushing? Just because I liked his portrayal of the Joker doesn't mean I'm gushing over it

No! Maybe, nah. TDK was awesome and Ledger was epic. Sure he wasn't the silly psychopath Joker, but he still did a kick @ss job. Now we are stuck with Hot Topic Joker and Zombie Joker.

God damnit.

I'm sorry but I hate the dark knight trilogy so much. Like the whole point is Batman is the real identity, while in those movies its just a means for Bruce Wayne to go after people. They literally have Batman backwards. Heath ledger just played a generic (albeit memorable) sociopath with traits more reminiscent of Riddler, Zaszh and Anarky, with the only thing making him the joker being that everyone says he is.

Bane is the kicker for me. For once they didn't identify him by venom which is always a stupid thing. Thinking of Bane as "that guy with the venom" is like thinking of Batman as "that guy with the shark repellant spray". Venom was a single tool used ONCE in his first appearance then never again, but cartoons and movies portrayed him as solely reliant on venom as if that's all there was to it. Plus the portray him as hulking out on venom when the scary reality is no, he just normally is that huge. He doesn't shrivel away without venom like they show in cartoons and movies.

Then, despite him being Bane in name only, I was ecstatic to see him not on venom. Only to be furious when they still pulled the hack writing venom trick of "pull the plugs to instantly disable him".

As for scarecrow, he's the ONLY character they successful adapted into a realistic setting without becoming an "in name only" shadow of Ayo he's supposed to be.

On MBJ as Johnny Storm fine. Buy I better not hear any crap about them casting white people as black characters then. Imean since appropriate actors obviously isn't a concern then why not. Obese Mexican batman. The mom from sons of anarchy as Mr terrific. Chris rock as Norman Osborn

Actually Chris rock would be awesome as the green goblin I take that last one back. Voice and mannerisms under the costume at least.

Stop talking about DC

I don't like coming in here when I've made a promise to myself I won't post again until I get caught up on my work.

You're sidetracking my thread, stop doing that, because I'm gonna be pissed when I come back for real and you all got my thread locked due to pointless infighting.

This also goes for the racial casting. Stop it. Nothing good comes of it.

Last time I tell you.

I can never decide if my favorite DC character is Raven or The Joker. Raven needs a good movie appearance. Not likely with DC's track record when it comes to films though.

No. It'll divulge into dumb arguments.

Do I need to specify this thread is about Marvel Comics more?

I figured I made it pretty apparent but it seems not.

I feel like I can't leave you all alone for more than 5 minutes.

But I'm signing off now, and I won't be back for a while.

Keep it on track.
