As good as I hoped. Way better than I feared.
There's moments of seriousness that seem almost out of place (but which definitely contribute to the story, don't get me wrong), as well as scenes of great, intense action... but the movie (very smartly) integrates the humor and almost irreverent nature into everything, almost as if to say "yeah... we all know you're watching a movie called Ant Man, it's okay to laugh at anything."
Honestly, it reminded me a lot of The Italian Job (with super powers, of course). If that concept sounds appealing to you, I'd recommend seeing the movie.
Also, I really like how they set a pretty good stage for Dr. Strange and the whole "quantum realm" aspect to the story. If Dr. Strange is going to be "an hour long acid trip" like director Scoft Derrickson has said, then this gives a good snapshot into how that would be possible. All in all, a mid-tier Marvel film, a fun summer action movie and a story that works on the levels it intends to operate on.

How have you guys been enjoying Secret wars. It is so much better than Convergence, I was blown away. Doom isn't as bad a god as I thought he would be. I really love the Thors touch and seeing different characters as Thor. Groot Thor and Storm Thor were my favorites.
I guess I am just impressed by the worldbuilding, and it helps when you can accept that there are multiples of every person across the worlds. because at first that really confused me. Mutopia was just great. I love the idea that mutants are so accepted now that even Magneto can take a chill pill.
Are there any comics that we know won't still be here after secret wars?

Honestly, this looks exactly like what a Deadpool movie should.

Now I wish he was part of the MCU. His outfit looks legit, without feeling like an con cosplay.

I don't read comic books, but tumblr threw a tantrum over that fact, which people stated is a part of his characterization.

Is it true that Deadpool won't be a psychopath in this movie?

I Don't think that would work with a movie. Wade needs to be relatable to the audience. But one thing I feel slightly iffy about the movie is that Deadpool has some serious moments, and the thing about Deadpool's character is that he never takes anything seriously.

This trailer epitomizes Deadpool's character in the comics. Slapstick, wise-cracking and totally insane mass murderer. I mean, the guy makes a "brown pants" joke before vaporizing a dozen guys' brain matter. How is that not a psychopath?

I do think that's trailer editing, though. And the only serious moments we get - or which seem to be serious - are by Wade Wilson himself, before he becomes Deadpool

I am so excited about this movie...Deadpool with his mouth back \o/ The fight scenes look awesome, the dialogue sounds perfect and they've got his origin right, from the little we can see in the trailer. Hell it looks like they've even got Ajax in there...and is that dark haired woman Bloody Mary? Damn...I can't wait for this film...roll on 2016 ![]()

Indeed, good year for movies based on comic books.

Deadpool is weird and funny, and has his complexity in a really weird way. He loves his kid, he does make friends, but he is crazy violent. He also is able to break the 4th wall. He knows he is in a comic book and often talks back to the readers, or is his own narrator. He has some dark serious moments as well though. The guy has had some serious depression, but overall a fun guy who is always wisecracking.

Deadpool could prove to be tons of fun for sure.
Though personally looking forward to Doctor Strange. Mainly because I know next to nothing about the character, so will be nice going in completely blind and hoping it is great (similar approach I had with Ant-Man).
Plus, I like his design.

Oh damn that's another film I'm excited about...especially considering it's starring Benedict Cumberbatch. Doctor Strange is just awesome

Cool to hear!
Yeah, I'm certain Benedict will be good in the role (well, at least the voice will be solid). Personally more a fan of Phoenix as an actor, but I'm not complaining. There's nothing for me to picture what kind of an actor would be the right one for Strange, so I am simply judging based on the actor's performances.

Do you mean Joaquin Phoenix? He's a damn good actor, but I do think Benedict has been cast perfectly for Dr Strange...as you say...that voice

Yup, since I recall rumors circulating that he was to be cast as Strange. But yes, either way looking forward to Benedict's performance. ^^

I really can't get myself interested in the DC movies. I did liked Man of Steel, but unlike the Marvel movies, they don't wait at all for their universe to develop. Hell, Marvel did an Ant-man movie to introduce the character before his appearance in Civil war. DC just throws everything at the screen at the same time and hope we like it, but doing things without any build is an risky move.
