It was easier to spend $60 on a video game that I could play for months and months on end.

...wait a second...

I gave up on comics when the price increases made it a hobby of youth. That said, the stories still seen on films are mostly ones I am familiar with from those better times.

Its not like the iconic characters have had epic stories´that can translate well to the big screen since then. There´s Brubaker´s Captain America, but most big stories I can think of are of the infamous kind. Don´t think Sony wants to film "One More Day" anytime soon, or Disney have Ironman go full douche fascist mode (fingers crossed since they are making Civil War).

Its all quite impressive really. They've made it so there's almost nothing there that says the FF. I doubt you could even recognize it if they took the titles and what not away.

And maybe the shots of The Thing as well. But still...

I'll often laugh at complaints of adaptations moving away from the source material... but this is just so far off the mark.

I think staying true to the source material is important. How ridiculous would be if they made an Mass effect movie and the protagonist is some random guy named Joe?

That being said, I have no hopes for this movie, Sony should have just sold the rights to Marvel, and they would have handled it better.

It's like a Comic Book film made back in the 90s where they barely considered the source material.

Deviation from the source material is necessary when your source is Fantastic Four... not exactly the coolest team in Marvel's lineup.

They're lame. But you could really make the whole film worth something if they let Doom actually be Doctor Doom, Tyrant Ruler of Latveria.

Not a Computer Hacker. Which yes, is a confirmed thing.

The Fantastic Four aren't interesting. But their villains are great.

Well, surely It's all relative to what your adapting and then the extent of your changes. For Mass Effect, good luck adapting the trilogy into a cinematic plot, not to mention you're opening up a whole can of worms if you set certain choices in it and make them appear cannon.

I'd say Mass Effect's best served by doing just that, dropping Shepard's crew and casting that random Joe. I'm sure there's a half decent story waiting for him out there in the Mass Effect universe. Which is where its strength lies anyways. You'd keep Mass Effect's soul intact by merely replicating that universe, in my opinion at least.

Elsewhere, fans will complain en masse about the most trivial changes in adaptations. Making Electro black in TASM2? What element of Electro's barebones character was lost from that change? Nothing.

FF on the other hand... what is there left of it? Where's their light hearted world of zany technology? Gone in favour of rejected set pieces from Prometheus. Marvel's first family? Replaced by a bunch of kids. Doom's a blogger, the tone's all off... its soul is long gone.

Changes can be fine. But here, FF's damn unrecognisable.

I am actually a little hyped for the FF movie now. There is NO way this could be worse then Tim Story's run. To this day, Rise of the Silver Surfer is the only cbm i've walked out on before finishing, and I've watched all of Green Lantern and Ghostrider.

The Ghost Rider movies are great. What are you talking about?

If you don't take them seriously...at all.

Funny story, Doctor Doom is single handily one of my favorite villains ever. So seeing him defiled even worse now by being a Hackivist makes me dislike the film already.

Doom should be doing stuff like this.

Not furiously typing on his computer like most of his screentime will probably be.

He pretty much is now.  <_<

Because it looks terrible.

They don't show the suits in the teaser, but they're in the set photos they are some of the most ugliest looking things I have ever seen in a long time.

Concept art for the sutes look dodgy to say the least. still it looks like they are going for an Ultimates origen here.

still Poed regarding the hot BenGrim guy needs the Brooklyn acent.. this movie needs the Yancy streeters.

Ok, I'll admit I am not a fantastic four fan so haven't been following this movie at all.  I just came across the interview with Toby Kebell about Victor Domaschev... d00m blogger/hackivist. I think that killed my hype.

Doctor Doom is one of, if not the most, greatest villain in the Marvel universe! And Fox has the ******  rights to him! The could have made an AWESOME movie with trying to take over the world and the FF getting lucky by defeating him with some random **** ( because that's what they always do ),but still! Damn....... I will still go see this but I know I will disappointed.
