Still in the countdown for release day but thought I would throw this question out to all the forumites who might have an answer from previous discussions.

Space is at a bit of a premium on my computer (especially if I want new games to run smoothly) and I was wondering if the Character Import for ME2 would still work if I uninstalled ME1 but kept the Save folder.  I watched a video posted up on the main site that showed them directing the Import utility to that folder so I definitely need -it-, at least, to access my Shepards.

Has anyone heard/read anything about this?  If not, guess I'll just have to wait and see for myself. ^_^

Thanks in advance.

Since it's a standalone game I'd expect that keeping the saves folder will work just fine - if their other games are anything to go by you only really need to keep the one "end of game" save that gets automatically created when you finish the game, and maybe your "masseffectprofile" file.

I intend to do the same as you and uninstall ME1 before installing ME2, at least if I manage to finish my current soldier playthrough before ME2 arrives next week, not because I lack space, but because I just like to keep things neat and tidy.

Just make sure you manually back up your saves folder in a different location on the harddrive before you deinstall the game, just in case the ME1 uninstaller is set to automatically wipe saves. You wouldn't want to accidentally lose them. :)
