Okay so I tried it again (even went back to Origins and equipped my main guy), he still won't show up in the Keep.
Is there any other solution to this?

Don't worry, none of my characters have shown up, either. It doesn't really make any difference to DA:I.
If you really want to see a tile that looks like your DA:O Warden in the Keep, I found this works:
- download the standalone DA:O Character Creator from somewhere like File Planet;
- create a new character with the same gender, race, class and appearance as your Warden in that;
- give him/her the same name;
- hit the Upload button at the end.
Your hero will appear in the Keep shortly after (took mine about 30 minutes to appear).
Easy peasy!
