Historically, bioware games should be expected to get 90+ from the critics on at least one system.  If it's 85 or less then the game probably has some significant problems.

Judging from what I've seen, anyone who claims these is an incompetent moron.

Seriously there's a whole underground waterfall thaig to explore ... and a dozen unique dragon fights we know of.

The fact of the matter is, if you judge a Dragon Age game by the first 10% of it, you're doing it a lot like most professional reviewers do it..

Metascore is based on critics reviews. Reviews from users are not calculated in it.

 

Ah ok, it is just I remember at the time DA2 was released there were a few reviews being posted by Bioware employees

Considering that even DA2 has a metascore of 82, I don't see any coherent reason to expect many low or mediocre review scores.

 

With a user score of 4.3. It's not so much about what the forumites think the critics will rate it as it is about how amazing they seem to be expecting it WILL be. And it's usually the people who build up these amazing expectations that become the most embittered should they be disappointed.

It has MP so now I can't enjoy the SP even though they are separate. Also........I'm a Dev cause I write shitty fanfic and I created a mod for Starcraft once back in 2001 and I took a single programming and logic class in college 10 years ago so I have the right to tell Bioware that they don't know how to make games anymore like they used to and I want every game ever made to be identical to Baldurs Gate. I'm rating DAI 1/10 on Metacritic cause at least it still has boobs.

Which is even more ridiculous than the 8.2 Critics score. I think we can all agree that DA2 was by no means a great or even good game, but it's not a 4.3.

Besides, we were talking about review scores, like in actual, detailed reviews - not some punk writing "Console trash. A money grab. A precisely calculated move. Bioware is dead." accompanied by a score of 0.

That much is true. But to be fair, Bioware has done a brilliant job of advertising DAI: the constant Twitch streams, trailers, fan-contact and actively showing that they've been listening to "our" feedback. I have pretty high expectations and I don't think I will be disappointed, not this time.

Well, the first one is much more common - when someone scores a game with a 5, they usually didn't enjoy it at all, save for very few exceptions. Strangely enough, the same concept doesn't apply to other media, at least not in its entirety.

Hmm, well. Most of the people who have gotten to play it so far seemed to have really enjoyed it but they were just demos. I don't think the combat will be a problem (unless it's broken) I think people will like Bioware doing a different thing with it and bringing back tactical combat. 

The story is a big part of it and I can't really guess what that will be like. If EA is smart they will send out review copies a good amount of time before release so that the critics can get the best experience with crafting, customization and side content (unless those things suck). 

 

I guess it's possible that some might be harder on this game because of flack they got over praising DA2 and ME3 but hopefully that wont happen.

Review scores are subjective. They are the opinion of that 1 reviewer who may or may not like the genre or certain thing in the game.

 

For me its better to base my opinion of a game on the info and mechanics of a game. A score is meaningless.

The  best reviews are from someone who does not have a biased background of the game prior/during. You have to review a game with a open mind and see it for it's flaws and the good. That also means you can't say well they took something away you liked and say they are taking away without telling us if they added anything.

I expect a metacritic score in the mid 80's.

 

Official site scores will range between 7 and 9 (or the 70's and 90's).
