I'm expecting DAI will receive mid to high 80s in terms of metacritic. The hype and anticipation around this game hasn't been over-the-top like some titles such as Skyrim, GTA, Destiny, etc. The game also isn't doing anything groundbreaking, but it will definitely be a great first step for BioWare in the next generation phase.

How is 42 always the correct answer?

I barely passed my maths GCSE

42 is the answer to Life the Universe and Everything.

And this is a reason I do not like stats, esp when it deals with subjective opinions; almost meaningless.

Personally, I am reluctant to give anything a perfect score, as well as scores on the negative end of a given scale. So many forms of entertainment receive high praise, and personally find them cringe worthy, or am entertained by something that has others in some emotional crawfish boil. And when such critiques are done ahead of release, without knowledge of the product (am looking at you meta-critics), I try and ignore the supposed 'data'.

Don't think it's legit; more of a prediction.  If that's what the scores ACTUALLY are, well, huh.

Considering the average review score has been dropping of late, and the series never scored as well as Mass Effect (Origins has a 91 at Metacritic; Mass Effect 2 has a 96 and Mass Effect 3 has a 93), I'm going to wager around 84 or 85.  Which would make it one of the best-reviewed AAA games of the year.

Console reviewer scores are usually higher than PC reviewer scores (unless the game is bad PC port to console). Also, DAO had a better PC score than ME and ME3 PC version (both have 89).

The game reviewers have been criticised of late, so you can see some pushing scores down to assert their credibility.

DAO pulled 91% on metacritic

DA2 pulled 82%

Even those who enjoyed DA2 (and I'm one of them) would not put 9% between those two titles.

Most sites would put The Witcher 1/2 and Shadow of Mordor in between in the mid 80%'s...

As for DAI - it's ambition exceeds DAO - so the hoped for reviews will be those that signify a 'return to form'.

I'd say 88 and the reason why is because 8 is my lucky number. I can't imagine it to be any lower than 80. If it goes below 80, well that would make me one sad panda for bioware. I really hope the game is well received, it looks like a lot of blood, sweat and tears were put into DAI.

True, but the bulk of reviews for Inquisition will be based on the PS4/Xbox One version (in the same way most Mass Effect/Dragon Age reviews were centered on consoles), therefore the console versions will probably provide the closest thing we'll have to a 1:1 comparison.

Well the user score for metacrtic which is the actual true representation is  4.3 or 43 on a scale of 100.

Im thinking DAi will prolly be around 80 or so. I dont think it will exceed DAO though. Maybe in some areas, but not overall

People actually take user scores seriously?

Gamers seem to run on the iTunes system -- something is either a 10 or a 1.  And if something is a mild disappointment (say, a 7/10 game instead of a 9/10 game), gamers tend to fall back on groupthink and immediately flood rating sites with low scores just to voice their displeasure.

I don't always agree with critics, but I will always trust critic scores more than user scores.

The 10s and 1s would normally cancel each other out.. But I never trust critic scores. Most of them (DA2 being a perfect example) were given such high scores because they are paid to do so. I trust the user scores any day because thats a true representation of the average person playing it. Same way I never trust movie critic scores either.  43 seems about right IMO for DA2. Peronally mine would be about 50 or so, but thats cause in the end its alot better than the crap out there, but it felt like half an RPG game in the end.

I  have more trust in user scores. 0/10 troll reviews= 10/10 fanboy reviews. If a game is good it will almost always end at 8.x. That's a score a good game usually deserves. After the 82/100 from Dragon Age 2 I lost all trust in gaming magazines. The game just doesn't deserve such a high meta score.. Especially 100% ratings  like the one from the Escapist (or the 90%+ ones) are obviously bought and damaged the credibility of gaming magazines.

Not really, no. Objectively speaking and assuming that a game would normally be considered a 7 or 8, a "hater rating" of 0-2 affects the average much, much more than a "fanboy rating" of 9/10.

You should rarely trust Critics scores, but you should never, ever trust a User score.

Dragon Age II is absolutely closer to an 8/10 than a 4/10.  Mass Effect 3 is closer to a 9/10 than a 5/10.  Hell, even Call of Duty: Black Ops II is closer to an 8/10 than a 4/10.

Gamers as a whole simply can't remove their biases from the process.  I wouldn't trust them to tell me what color the sky is, let alone how good a video game turned out to be.

What, and bribed 'professional' critics out of tune with the people they are supposed to be informing can?  As for the second part...  then don't go to a review site.  For those of us that do, we expect a professional to do their job properly and our peers to say what they feel.

9-10...at least that's what I'm anticipating...DA2 left a bad taste in a lot of peoples mouths, and DA:I looks as if its taking Dragon Age back to form...and Bioware in general. People want that...reviewers want to see that, and the game just looks fantastic.

But of course there is the chance that it may not be as good as it looks...and I for one can see some people knocking off points for the lack of healing and the inclusion of a more fast paced DA2 combat style....I think the general consensus will be great though.
